“After years of sub addiction, Ipsy Glam Bag Plus is one that I always come back to. The products are great! Even when the products miss the mark for me, the value is always there.” – Rebecca

About the Box: Topping our list of best overall beauty subscriptions this year is Ipsy Glam Bag Plus! This subscription is an upgrade option from the regular Ipsy Glam Bag ($12/month), and our readers are really amped over it for a few reasons: first off, every box comes packed with a whopping 5 full-size products that are a mix of skincare and makeup. Wowzers! What’s more: last year, Ipsy implemented an update that now allows subscribers to choose 3 of the product they’ll receive in each box (from a monthly rotating assortment of 10). For the rest, their profile preferences are consulted, so they’ll only be sent the creams, lip balms, cheek stains, palettes, and brushes they know they’ll love. Comments (514)

  1. How is Allure #4 and Birchbox #5 when anytime spoilers or reviews are posted, the majority of the comments are about how Allure’s price hike isn’t worth it and that the quality has gone down since then?? And the volume of comments about how much everyone hates BB because of the tiny samples makes me doubt how they could even make it onto a top 23 list let alone #5?!?
(Btw, I 100% agree with everyone on these points)

Oh and yea. There’s the fact that these comments were all posted from 1+ years ago that makes this “2021” survey 100% unbelievable! Lololol 😂

  2. These comments date back 2 years how are these 2021 winners?

    • They update this post every year with the new winners rather than starting a new post.

  3. Boxwalla is the only box that has never made me unhappy at ALL. The products are always stellar and their customer service is the platinum standard. I love them madly.

  4. I see all these comments and one i dont see is my favourite it is the Box from Fashionsta This one i will say will be on top 5 easy in next 3 years if not sooner they are not very old but they put all there heart in soul in this box and they have a great mans to .I watched as the got off the ground and i have been with them for about 15 very happy months this team is Amazing and humble they also give back to womens Mission if you want to try something new and this is skincare and makeup give this box a try good for all ages and no glitter you wont be sorry .❤❤

    • I 1000% agree with you, I LOVE my box from Fashionsta, The Box! They are my favorite box hands down, I get Ipsy, Boxycharm, ETC however my Box from Fashionsta is my favorite, they are always putting new to me products, Indie brands, brands I’ve fallen in love with since getting the box and I too have been getting it for well over a year now! I think I started getting it the 3rd month they opened it up! I use 100% of the products vs my other boxes that I might only use up to maybe 3 of the products, and I don’t plan to cancel anytime soon either! I LOVE it so much that they give back to the women’s shelter there! Some of them woman come there with just the clothes on there backs! They get a great start back into life bcuz of this wonderful program they have! I too used to donate all my gently used clothes and my children’s clothes to a local women’s shelter in my area! I just can’t say enough good things about The Box! I highly recommend this box too, I’ve never received the mens box but I can definitely vouch for the women’s box! Highly recommend!! ❤️❤️ Never disappointed EVER!! ❤️❤️

  5. I loved BoxyCharm. The monthly box was full size products that were fantastic. The eyeshadow kits were maybe a bit too young for me (almost 50) but I loved everything else, especially the skin care items.

My major disappointment was the popup shop. On 4 separate occasions I ordered from the Popup shop. I never once received my orders. BoxyCharm was quick to refund my money but I would have preferred receiving the items. This is a known complaint of many subscribers. It is apparently hit or miss. Unfortunately for me it was a miss every time.

  6. I have IPSY, and it’s amazing, I pay 25$ per month but there are add ons, and I’ve received excellent products. I’ve paused my subscription and then come back, and there’s no penalty whatsoever. I recently upgraded to Glam Bag X and i’m truly happy with IPSY. there are skin care makeup hair care products, and it depends on your profile. But so far I would recommend it with my eyes close. A friend that tried many different boxes she told me ipsy was the best and I agree with her.

  7. Mintd Box will always be one of my favorites. Sad to see it’s not mentioned here. Their products are always amazing!!

  8. I hope I don’t regret subscribing to the See New Skincare box! It seems like it’s not mentioned a lot.

    • You won’t regret it, it’s great! It seem like when the company comes up in a tread, lots of people come out to praise it. I’m not sure why MSA doesn’t review it. It’s a fantastic sub.

    • I agree. See New Skincare is great. I just resubscribed after trying a few other boxes and missed this box. A good selection of quality products and customer service is excellent.

      • I was surprised to not see it on here as well! I’ve tried their most recent box and loved it so I’m sure you’ll enjoy it! tbh you get more products in their box for a way higher value which i think most people don’t realize

  9. I agree 100%✓
I was with ipsy for over a year & I enjoyed it even though it was samples but the cost was low.
I kept seeing ads for Boxycharm but kept putting off switching…always got busy, out it off…now after several months with Boxycharm & only paying like $12 more, I can’t even image the amount of product I would have had had I just changed to Boxycharm much sooner! Not to mention, I use almost every single item I’ve received!! I’m finding huge treasures in the add on products with sales at up to 93% off on products I would buy at full price for quality and effective skincare! Idc about the charms really but whether I use them or not, I’m getting a huge bargain every single month and finding great products that otherwise I’d not have known about!! If I would change anything at all, it would be that I could upgrade to the next price box as I don’t need 2 boxes per month but other than that, it’s a complete success, not one complaint from me at all bc I love pampering myself, I love pampering my skin, I love surprises and I get all that for a small fee of $25 a month 😃❤️
If we have to ever cut back on extras at my house, I would prefer some of my tv packages be downsized than to let my boxycharm go! Where were these when I was in my 20s, 30s & 40s as this year, I start my 50th year being alive and loving beauty and skincare ❤️🎇
Like the og poster said, just go ahead and do it! You won’t be disappointed!
PS I’m getting absolutely no kickback for my honest opinion either. I’ve actually just gotten my friend to join after an evening of discussing a good skincare regimen for her and I’m not even doing the refer a friend for the charms! When mine add up to a substantial amount, I will buy myself a little something extra but until then, if I never even use them, I’m saving tons of money and having fun doing it ❤️ thank you BC for such a great experience each month and off the chart products ❤️
🎉Happy New Year to all my fellow sublettes 🎉
    Stay fabulous 💓

  10. Definitely FABFITFUN AND LOOKFANTASTIC!!!

  11. I have tried Boxycharnd the products are too young for me, glittery and dark purples and green eyeshadows for the young. I am a young 55 year old. What would be the best box for me. I love receiving the monthly boxes but I just need more age appropriate products. SUGGESTIONS PLEASE.

    • Linda, I’m your age and agree about Boxycharm. Allure is really great. I use so much of what I get. The cost has recently increased, but the January box was great and February is looking good too. Try Allure! If you’re looking for a budget box, Macy’s is pretty good, too, for $15.

  12. Suggestions for boxes for ‘over 60’ age group
    S?

    • This is why I googled this as well. I had Birchbox for years and no matter what my profile, they continually send me pink or glitter for cheeks and eyes. I finally quit since I have a drawer of pink glossy lipstick/blusher.

    • Hey Deb, we have lot of awesome subscribers that are over 60 years old and enjoy our box. We try to have a nice mix of skincare, haircare and glam. Some of our palettes get a little colorful, but we always aim to keep things neutral for all age groups to enjoy! Check us out on IG and let us know if you have any questions. 🙂

  13. I currently have IPSY GLAM BAG, BOXYCHARM + BOXYLUXE & ALLURE.

I only like IPSY for the add ons & pop ups (the glam bag is just a bunch of samples) & BOXYCHARM for the add ons & pop ups as well. BOXYLUXE is hit or miss.

I loved SEPHORA Play. I didn’t like BIRCHBOX. BOXY PREMIUM is hit or miss.

I might cancel ALLURE since they’re now charging $23 instead of $15.

I hope they bring back SEPHORA PLAY & MACYS. I’ve always wanted to try the MACYS one.

Bottom line is… I have a drawer of new, unused & unwanted products so I literally would bundle them up & give them as birthday gifts lol. It’s the ADD ONS + POP UP items that I’ve bought that I end up using.

    • They brought Macy’s back and it looks great this time. All hair products! Just in case you haven’t seen You sound like you love Boxes as much as I so I imagine you have 🙂

  14. I loved Birch box when I subscribed, and probably will again. Currently subscribed to Ipsy Glam bag for my teen, who genuinely enjoys it as a monthly treat.
I have been very disappointed in the Walmart box. Yes, it’s only $5 but you can’t depend on it and it often feels like wasted money. Sometimes it doesn’t arrive until the “season” is long over and the samples are often discarded since they don’t tailor to personal needs. Target box is great because you can just buy it when you like; no subscription needed, and always free shipping on the box.

Best one: We love the “How to be a Redhead” sub box we buy through Amazon. Price is about $20/month and the products are tailored toward natural and post-natural redheads. The products are high quality and always include at least one full size item that would cost more than the box price if purchased separately (example: full size Overtone hair color). My daughter is a natural redhead, and was thrilled with it, saying it’s the best box she’s ever received. Happened to find it on Amazon but I didn’t see it on your site.

  15. I’ve had BoxyCharm for almost 2 years. I pay for all 3 boxes they offer. I absolutely love BoxyCharm! Have I gotten some products that don’t match my skin tone or colors I just don’t like, of course. But all in all,I have a makeup & skincare collection that is AMAZING! Its full of high quality, well known brands. I’ve been able to try so may expensive products thanks to BoxyCharm. Their boxes are great & the prices in add-ons & the Popup sales are unbeatable! I’ve never had any issues with customer service. They always responded to me within 24 hours. I’ve been refunded for the few items that arrived broken. I highly recommend BoxyCharm! They’re #1 for a reason!

  16. I think Lookfantastic box ships worldwide. I definitely received it in countries other than listed (Germany, Russia)

  17. I totally disagree. Boxycharm is not worth the hassle or the cost. First of all they DO NOT take your preference into account. For instance I rarely use eye make up but yet my boxes are full of eye shadows and liners. There customer service is horrible. If you have an issue with the delivery of your box they will tell you they are sending you a replacement box but never do. I am canceling my service asap. Please don’t be fooled by this article. Boxycharm is the absolute worse.

    • This is so true. I got a huge eye shadow palette every single box. Nothing I’d ever wear. They have you take all these quizzes but never send anything really personalized. However, the stuff they do send is high quality and good stuff. But it’s kind of the same every month. Ipsy is tiny little samples… I’m searching for the perfect box. Haven’t found one yet.

      • Ipsy glam bag plus let’s you pick 3 full size items now. I just did it yesterday. I have the glam bag and glam bag plus. I picked three they picked two. I’ll let you know if they follow through on their new practice of ultra personalization

      • Same! I don’t care for Boxy but I adore my Glam Bag!! You pick three of the samples and I always love the other two as well. I feel like Boxy never even glances at my profile and my glam bag seems always tailored to me. I would spend the extra 10 at IPSY and try one of their glam bags or glam bag plus’s.. I like pop up in Boxy but not much else. I still have it though since I love trying anything makeup or beauty but for something tailored I would try the Glam Bag.

    • I love Boxy Charm. I always get awesome products, I have been using them for about a year now and never disappointed. Their customer service has always been great , in my opinion anyway. My box was late one month and they sent me an upgrade to a Boxy Luxe for the inconvenience.

  18. I have the Boxycharm subscriptions. The Premium and the base box. It has been a wonderful experience getting these boxes. This is the first subscription I have ever gotten and I am kind of depressed I hadn’t learned about it sooner! I just ordered a few things on the add-on section of their website and I am so excited to receive it! Anyone debating on getting this box, DONT AND JUST DO IT! I PROMISE, you will NOT be disappointed!

    LOVE, AMBER♡♡♡♡

    • Totally agree. Have been using Boxycharm for about a year now and love it.
