Have you been following along with our monthly round-up of favorite items from past subscription boxes? After a bit of a hiatus, monthly favorites have recently returned, and this month we're revamping how they look. Rather than splitting our faves up into four categories published as separate posts, they're all going to be celebrated in one spot. (Right here!) So, you'll see beauty, fashion, kids, food, and more subscription box picks all in this one post.

One more thing! Thanks to suggestions from you, our community (special shoutout to Carol!), we're rounding up our favorite subscription box finds that have stood the test of time. Scroll down past our February favorites to see this month's Forever Favorites picks, AKA items we've received from past boxes that we're still loving.

February 2022 Favorites

Abby's Picks

The Item: PAT McGRATH LABS LUST: Lip Gloss in 'Peach Perversion'

The Cost: $19

From: Ipsy Glam Bag X

Why I love it: I have a stash of Pat McGrath glosses that I use daily, so when I saw I was receiving a Lust formula that I didn’t have, I was ecstatic. This peachy gloss is perfect over a “your lips but better” lipstick, and it feels hydrating and comfortable on the lips.

The Item: Wax Seal Set

The Cost: $15

From: Goddess Provisions

ACTIVE DEAL: Use code MSA10 for 10% off your entire order (min. purchase of $25 USD required).
CODE: MSA10

Why I love it: I have always dreamed of using a wax seal on my snail mail. It adds a sort of romantic, nostalgic feel to your post, and this little kit made it so easy. I may even start using it when I mail out my bills! It definitely beats licking any envelopes.

Mary's Pick

The Item: Cocoacentric LaLynn Earrings

The Cost: $80

From: Rocksbox

Why I love it: While at first I wasn’t a huge fan, they really grew on me to the point where I seriously considered buying them – I can always buy them another time. They’re different from what I usually wear, and they’re quite the statement piece. These earrings really dressed up and added more personality to my looks.

Becca's Picks

The Item: Clinique Pop Lip in Love Pop

The Cost: $20

From: Clinique Limited-Edition Sun-Kissed Essentials Kit (sold out)

Why I love it: Spring is in the air and with the warm weather comes my need for lipstick! Complete with a smoothing primer, this buttery lipstick goes on smooth and has a decent staying power with a brilliant hue. Pairing perfectly with a white tank and flip flops, this pretty pink color has me dreaming of melting snow and warm rays of sun!

The Item: Define High-Waisted 9” Shorts

The Cost: $59.95

From: Fabletics

Why I love it: Although I am a fan of leggings, spandex shorts have never been on my radar as an item I need in my life. That is until I started playing competitive volleyball. Not only do these high-waisted shorts tuck everything in (and keep it in place) but they help you look the part, as well as stay in place on my thighs. Because they are spendy, I keep a close eye on their website for sales to pick up pieces at a discount.

Kai's Pick

The Item: The Heritage Store Rosewater Refreshing Facial Mist

The Cost: $10.69 for 8 oz.

From: Allure Beauty Box

Why I love it: I never thought I’d be spraying myself in the face for fun, to be honest. But The Heritage Store's Rosewater Refreshing Mist changed things for me. The directions say to spray it on your face and hair whenever you need a wake-up call, and as it turns out, I must need one often! I love roses and being able to smell them (not too strongly) without worrying about their lifespan is so great. This mist only has two ingredients: Rose Damask Flower Oil and aqua, which is VORTEXED AND MAGNETIZED water (“Vor Mag”, omg?!), which they say raises the energy to a higher vibration. I don’t know about that but I do know I use this mist constantly. The Allure insert tells me makeup artists use rosewater to help blend concealer or foundation but I haven’t used it for that yet. Got a trial size and it's half gone; I'll be buying the full-size version because I love it that much.

Our February Allure review hasn't launched yet, but peep the spoilers here. Read more reviews by Kai!

Brandi's Picks

The Item: Love Potion Soy Candle

The Cost: n/a

From: Wicked Good Perfume

ACTIVE DEAL: Save 15% off your first month
CODE: MSA15

Why I love it: This candle is so cute and it smells delicious and fruity with notes of orange, pineapple, cherry, and vanilla marshmallow. I love the cute little pink gemstones that accent the pink tin it came in so nicely. It burned well and filled the room with a sweet cozy scent!

The Item: KiwiCo Pop-Up Felt Play Mat

The Cost: $49.95

From: KiwiCo

Why I love it: While this is not from a subscription box, it does come from one of our favorite subscription box companies, KiwiCo, which is known for their quality and engaging toys! This play mat is no exception - my 3-year-old loves it and as someone who hates clutter, it has become the perfect toy to keep in our living room. When it’s open, it provides lots of engaging play time for my kids, but then I can just fold it up and store it and the mess is gone! It’s also perfect for traveling and I love that it has little pockets where we can store all of the fun pop-up pieces and wooden cars it came with!

The Item: FabKids Dino Print Rainboot

The Cost: Retail Value $42, VIP Cost $29.95

From: FabKids

Why I love it: These rainboots are super cute! The colors are unique, the pattern and spikes on the back are fun and my son loves them. They have already proven to be perfect for the rain and even the mud, which they are currently caked in from a very fun day in our backyard. While they are covered in mud, I can rest assured they will be easy to clean and ready to go for our next rainy day!

Sanna's Picks

The Item: UOMA Black Magic Hypnotic Impact High Shine Lipstick in LOVE

The Cost: $24

From: Ipsy Glam Bag X

Why I love it: The color looks kinda crazy in the tube but it was surprisingly subtle on, which is perfect for me! (But I could see how that might be disappointing to some). It’s also buildable, so one swipe gives you a hint of berry color but a second one gives you a more vampy vibe. The formula is nourishing and while the glitter looks cool, it doesn’t transfer to your lips at all. I’m finding myself reaching for this lipstick often because it looks fun while applying but it’s really lowkey on.

The Item: Rebecca Taylor Short Sleeve Ikat Smock Dress

The Cost: $395

From: Rent the Runway

Why I love it:  I love RTR for everyday, but I really LOVE renting for vacations and this dress I rented for a warm weather getaway was perfect! The print is so fun and it’s lightweight and easy to throw on while still looking put together. I paired this with sandals for lunch by the pool but you could easily dress it up with heels for a balmy night out.

Sanna subscribes to RTR on her own, but check out our reviews of this subscription here!

The Item: Favor Dip-Dyed Spoon Rest

The Cost: $30

From: FabFitFun

Why I love it:  A spoon rest is something I’ve been wanting for a while but not something I would ever buy outright since it seems so frivolous. So when I saw this as a FFF choice, I knew I had to get it, especially since this one is so pretty. I love the minimal look and the dip-dye makes it more visually interesting. The quality of the stoneware is really good, too. This is the second ceramic item I’ve received from FFF and I’ve been really impressed with both.

Naomi's Picks

Front of Urban Hydration Micellar Cleansing Water for Cocotique February 2022

The Item: URBAN HYDRATION Moisture Boost Kiwi and Pomegranate Micellar Cleansing Water

The Cost: $14.99

From: Cocotique Beauty Subscription Box

Why I love it: I love micellar water in general; there is nothing that removes stubborn eye makeup better, and it is the perfect cleansing finisher. I really enjoy the fun, fruity pop Urban Hydration brought to this classic skincare staple. The scent is juicy and refreshing. It's like a Capri Sun for your face.

Front of Pirette Fragrance Oil for Beachly Beauty Box Winter 2021

The Item: PIRETTE Mini Fragrance Oil

The Cost: $28.00

From: Beachly Beauty Box

Why I love it: I am not a fragrance lover by any means, so I was shocked by how much I truly enjoyed this scent. It is summertime fun trapped in an elegant glass roller bottle. If you ever wondered what a beautiful beach inside of a coconut would smell like, this is it. I also really appreciate that the product is alcohol-free, which makes it great for my sensitive skin and also eliminates the harsh ‘after smell’ that a lot of perfumes and fragrances have.

Christen's Pick

reviewer wearing the earrings from JourneeBox Riviera Maya

The Item: Tulum Earrings

The Cost: $65

From: JourneeBox

Why I love it: My favorite category of jewelry is earrings, and my favorite type of earrings are big and bold. These hammered gold earrings from the Riviera Maya edition of JourneeBox are exactly that, plus lightweight and the perfect balance between exciting and elevated. Really excited to have these added to my collection.

This Month's Forever Favorites

Becca's Forever Pick

The Item: Cuccio Natural Milk and Honey Cuticle Revitalizing Oil

The Cost: $13.98

From: Vine Oh!, Spring 2021

How it’s impressed me: I discovered this cuticle oil last spring in my Vine Oh! box and surprisingly use it almost daily. Oddly enough, I don’t use it as a cuticle oil but rather on my arms and legs after getting out of the bath and my skin is in heaven! The light honey fragrance is subtle, yet enticing, and it really does leave my skin soft. Paired with a glass of wine, I can’t think of a better self-care evening!

Naomi's Forever Pick

Front of Real Chemistry 3-Minute Body Peel for Bombay and Cedar Beauty Box August 2021

The Item: Real Chemistry Luminous 3-Minute Body Peel

The Cost: $34

From: The Beauty Box by Bombay & Cedar, October 2021

How it’s impressed me: This amazing exfoliating peel airlifts dead skin away, leaving behind smooth, soft, and vibrant skin. It has the same consistency and texture as an exfoliator, and is gentle but effective. My eczema patches are smoother and much less noticeable, and I hardly ever have any ingrown hair when I use this peel before shaving.

Samantha's Forever Pick

The Item: Caudalie Vinoperfect Serum

The Cost: $114 for 50ml // $22.80 for 10ml sample size

From: GlossyBox, March 2021

How it’s impressed me: I have been using this serum for a while now, and I won’t claim to understand the science behind veneferine or grapevine sap, but this stuff is magic. My skin is prone to redness, and I’ve noticed that if I use this for 2-3 consecutive days in a row, my skin tone is less rouge and much more even. The cost is a little off putting, but I’m so won over by the results (when I use it – I haven’t experienced this to be a permanent cure), I think it’s worth the splurge. When this lands in a beauty box, it is the ultimate score!

Christen's Forever Pick

Little Thief! Chota Chor! book from Little Feminist 2-4 September 2021

The Item: Little Thief! Chota Chor! by Vijaya Bodach (Author) & Nayantara Surendranath (Illustrator)

The Cost: $7.95

From: Little Feminist Ages 2-4, September 2021

How it’s impressed me: This book was an instant favorite and remains one we reach for frequently. The mystery of who the “thief” is continues to delight us, the illustrations are vibrant and interesting, and the differences between the protagonist’s home and life and ours continue to be great talking points as I read this book with my three-and-a-half-year-old daughter.

Hi there, I'm Christen. I am all sorts of things:

🌳 a writer who loves to convey feeling

🌲 a mother who wants to have just as much fun as my kids do

🌳 an outdoors-lover who's achieved #1000hoursoutside with my family

🌲 a low-maintenance self-carer

🌳 a general hungry person with an unstoppable sweet tooth

You'll find me collecting stationery and squirreling away stickers, riding bikes and swimming with my family, creating outfits in colors and silhouettes that make me feel amazing, wearing big earrings, drinking beer and asking my husband to feed me harmonies to sing, taking my vitamins, living for dancing to live music, roping everyone into a craft, being human and vulnerable, and celebrating the phenomenon of being alive.

...and doing it all with energy, delight, and jokes along the way.

I guess we all have our own idea of what “frivolous” is. A spoon rest is not a frivolity to me by any means as it is a tool I use while cooking my meals but a $395 sun dress is pretty high on my “frivolous” list (yes I understand it is rented through a subscription service) but we are all different!

Melissa

I absolutely 100% agree with you. A spoon rest is such a practical item. Like, where else are you going to lay your cooking utensils so that they don’t get dirty or make a mess themselves all over your stove or counter or whatever?
