Ipsy Glam Bag X is a quarterly upgrade for Ipsy members. It costs an additional $43/shipment for Glam Bag members and $30/shipment for Glam Bag Plus members. It replaces your usual monthly bag in February, May, August, and November. This bag "includes seven to eight full-size products specially curated by beauty’s biggest tastemakers and celebs" and allows subscribers to pick three items.

My Subscription Addiction paid for this box. (Check out our editorial guidelines to learn more about how we review boxes).

The Items

My box arrived in its normal pretty lilac box. This delivery was curated by Addison Rae and included a newsletter-type info booklet with details on featured items.

FYI: I didn't make any choices this month because I forgot to when grabbing choice screenshots! So everything below is from an assortment chosen by IPSY/IPSY's algorithm!

Let's see what arrived:

PAT McGRATH LABS LUST: Lip Gloss in 'Peach Perversion' - Retail Value $28

This is likely one of the brands most subscribers are super excited to see inside this box, myself included! Who doesn't love Pat McGrath? And this sheer and extremely peachy shade should be universally flattering on everyone, alone or even as a topper to your favorite lipstick. It is smooth, thick enough but not sticky, and so loaded with sparkle. The sweet vanilla scent is an added bonus.

It is so much better in person!

MZ SKIN MZ Skin Soothe & Smooth Collagen Activating Eye Complex, 14 mL - Retail Value $143

While the ingredient list here has some good stuff, I think the retail price of this little pink pot is wild. But, that is why we score stuff like this in subscription boxes, right? The big players here are moisturizing shea, hyaluronic acid, and ceramides. The texture is a medium weight but it absorbs beautifully and has a pleasant fragrance. It leaves the skin around my eyes feeling very soft and calm, though I can't speak to any sensations like cooling or tightening. Is it my favorite eye cream out there? Nah. But it is a nice treat to find inside this month.

COLOR WOW HAIR Xtra Large Bombshell Volumizer, 200 mL – Retail Value $26

Eh, I didn't love this. But it might be because it would work better on hair that is actually styled, rather than my lazy girl air-dry lifestyle. It is a mostly scentless clear liquid that turns into foam when you push down the pump. This does make it easy to apply to damp hair. I guess it did add a little boost to my hair, but nothing striking. Full disclosure here though: my hair is already really thick and on the large side. If you have finer hair and actually maybe style it occasionally, you might enjoy this more!

ACEOLOGY Multi-Vitamin Brightening Biodegradable Masks, 4 count – Retail Value $59

Yeesh! That price for sheet masks? I would never, even though I did love these. They are a great fabric that fits well and the clear serum is cooling, soothing, and brightening. Of course, I like to keep masks like this in the fridge! It is a great way to prep for the day if you have time or cool down before bed. These boast a nice ingredient list including niacinamide, hyaluronic acid, and loads of antioxidants.

SAIE BEAUTY Mascara 101 in 'Black/Noir' – Retail Value $24

Saie has been on my list of brands I want to try, and though I wish it was almost anything but a mascara, I'll take it! It helps that this formula is aimed at length and curl which is much more my speed than a volume formula. I kind of like my lashes to look super natural, but better, you know? And this formula adds length and lift without looking clumpy or being irritating. The brush kind of looks like a dud at first, but give this one a try anyways. Those weird bristles grab and define like a dream.

ANASTASIA BEVERLY HILLS Strong Hold Clear Brow Gel – Retail Value $22

Because I use a tinted brow gel, this is actually going to be a gift for a friend. She has naturally thick and dark brows (LUCKY) but they are unruly. A clear gel like this is her favorite brow product because it defines, styles, and holds her brows in place without getting that gross "crispy" feel. So, while I would have loved to get a tinted version of this, Lana is going to be over the moon.

QUAY HIGH KEY MINI in 'black/smoke' - Retail Value $65

I have a big head. I was a C-section baby. And I need big 'ole sunglasses to balance my face out. These retro aviators are oversized even on me, but I mean that as a compliment. They look great with a messy topknot and red lips, too! But, what I am trying to say here is that if you have a normal-sized head, these might feel like a lot. Luckily, they are lightweight. So, give them a try when you can finally roll your windows down or when you are ducking the paparazzi.

ACT+ACRE Plant-Based Dry Shampoo, 17 g – Retail Value $22

My last item is a dry shampoo from scalp-focused haircare brand Act+Acre. I am someone who has always used those super flammable dry shampoos but over the last few years, I have developed inflammation on my scalp, especially around my hairline. It itches and looks terrible, and it has really caused me to re-evaluate some of the products I use on my hair. And that means less butane, even though those formulas are incredible for refreshing hair! This is something that certainly feels newer because it is mostly made of rice starch, tapioca powder, and silica. It also doesn't have much of a scent. And while I am sure you could light this stuff on fire if you really tried, it doesn't include a flammable warning like many others out there. The powder pumps out just like you would want a dry shampoo to and it really does soak up oil and give you a little extra time between shampoo. All without irritation. Even better? It also contains fulvic acid which stimulates keratin production.

Verdict

While this wasn't my favorite IPSY Glam Bag X ever, it certainly did have some gems inside. Specifically, my mind goes to the lip gloss, mascara, and the dry shampoo. I also loved the masks and sunglasses. I think for me, the whole curation was lacking a little "wow" factor (and this includes me considering all of the options subscribers could have received). With a curator like Addison Rae, there are bound to be a lot of opinions here but I am comfortable leaving mine more middle of the road. The bag was worth the price, but my socks weren't knocked off by any means.

I love natural/vegan beauty products, Korean skincare, unique jewelry, and weird candies from far away places. When I am not waiting for my next exciting box you can find me painting or taking photographs of interesting people. I never leave home without pug hair somewhere on my shirt and a bold lipstick on my smile.

Lisa S,

I was pretty salty about the previous Glam Bag X (Huda, I think) but on the flip side the Addison Ray box was my absolute favorite of the X Boxes. I received the The Juvias Place palette, MZ skin eye cream, Tula moisturizer, Kinship lipjelly, Generation Skin eye patches, NoTo Botanics Deep Serum, Quay mini Aviators, and the hair towel. Every one of these items is a winner for me.

I was really surprised by how much I loved those quay sunglasses. I bought them for my husband but I ended up keeping them! I have never had a pair of aviator glasses look cute on me. I think they look great on you too! I’ll have to check out more of their sunglasses.
I agree that the box was worth the price but it didn’t wow me either and I’m hoping this isn’t the direction of X in the future.

I have to agree. I just wasn’t wowed by any of the selections for this box. I look forward to the next curation.
