Every year we ask you, our readers, to tell us your favorite subscription boxes. These are the results of the 2019 Readers' Choice Awards.

New visitors are constantly asking us: “What’s the best subscription box for me?” We often turn to our community to help answer that question, and in January 2019 surveyed our readers for their top picks across a number of different categories. Check out the full list of winners below!

1. FabFitFun - Best Box For Women

FabFitFun is a quarterly lifestyle subscription that sends subscribers 6-8 items per season with a value up to $300. Items in this subscription are on-trend and full-size beauty products, fitness items, accessories, home decor, and more. FabFitFun even allows subscribers to hand-select a few items from each shipment! FabFitFun was a very popular lifestyle subscription back in 2019, and it's still going strong. In fact, it might be even more popular in 2021 than it was in 2019!

2. Dollar Shave Club - Best Box For Men

Dollar Shave Club sends subscribers affordable shaving and grooming products. When you sign up for a subscription, you'll be able to pick the products you want and set up a shipping frequency that works for you. In 2019, our readers were all about convenience when it came time to pick for Best Box For Men. Fashion and lifestyle boxes were pushed aside in favor of this very practical subscription that keeps customers stocked up with shaving supplies!

3. OwlCrate - Best Box For Teens

Each box contains a highly-anticipated new YA release, as well as 3-5 bookish items like fandom jewelry, collectible toys, bookmarks, and more. This box is great for teens and lovers of YA novels, and in 2019, it was our readers' pick for Best Box For Teens!

This sub is a luxury service curated by designer Rachel Zoe and delivered 4 times a year. Each box is valued at over $400 and contains at least 5 statement staples (fashion, beauty and lifestyle) curated to elevate your everyday look.

Ipsy Glam Bag is one of the most popular and affordable subscriptions around, and our readers have selected it as one of the top beauty boxes for 5 years running! IPSY Glam Bag connects members with five makeup, skincare, hair care, and other beauty samples each month, plus a cute makeup bag. IPSY is personalised to your individual profile when you take their onboarding quiz, but what you’ll receive in your monthly glam bag is still a surprise. Ipsy was a very popular beauty subscription back in 2019, and it's still an MSA favorite in 2021.

Each month, they send out a mix of deluxe and full-size samples from mostly high-end brands. Back in 2019, readers voted Allure Beauty Box the Best Box For Skincare Products, and in 2021, subscribers can still sign up for shipments.

11. BoxyCharm - Best Box For Makeup

BoxyCharm is a beauty and makeup subscription box that's great for makeup addicts, and in 2019, MSA readers voted it the Best Box For Makeup! Boxes are sent monthly, and each shipment contains 5-6 beauty items like nail care, skincare, makeup, haircare, fragrance, and more. It gets even better: at least four items in every box are full-sized!

12. Birchbox - Best Box Under $15

Birchbox was one of the very first beauty subscription boxes—we’ve been reviewing it at MSA since 2012! Each month, subscribers get a new mix of 5 beauty samples, such as makeup, skincare, haircare, and fragrance items. Birchbox lets you choose whether you’d like a box of items picked just for you (including one item you get to pick out yourself), or a 'curated' box fully chosen by Birchbox. Subscribers also have the option to add-on full-sized items to each shipment. Back in 2019, readers voted Birchbox the Best Box Under $15, and in 2021, Birchbox is still connecting subscribers with brands like Sunday Riley, Kiehl’s, Ouai, and Beauty Blender.

13. POPSUGAR Must Have (No Longer in Service) - Best Box Over $50

POPSUGAR Must Have was a quarterly lifestyle subscription box curated by the editors at POPSUGAR. POPSUGAR Must Have was a very popular lifestyle subscription in 2019, and readers loved it so much they voted it Best Box Over $50! Each box featured "must have" products for beauty, fashion, home, food, fitness and more. Sadly, POPSUGAR Must Have is no longer in operation. The subscription shuttered in 2020.

14. Graze (No Longer in Service) - Best Snack Box

For a long time, Graze was a reader-favorite snack box, and in 2019, it won the award for Best Snack Box. Graze continued feeding hungry subscribers for a few months after it made it onto our 2019 list, but the subscription sent out its last box later in 2019.

15. HelloFresh - Best Weekly Meal Kit

The meal kit landscape was quite a bit different back in 2019 (so many new subscriptions have launched since then!), but HelloFresh has been a constant. In 2019, MSA readers voted HelloFresh the Best Weekly Meal Kit. HelloFresh has only gotten better with age. In 2021, this subscription has a larger menu, supports more diets, and offers more vegetarian and kid-friendly options than it did back in 2019.

16. Winc - Best Wine Box

Winc is a wine subscription box that re-imagines the traditional wine club by offering a regularly changing selection of unique, small production wines that are sourced directly from vineyards and winemakers. Simply take their one minute palate quiz and get wine paired to your taste preferences. Stick with the ones they select for you or choose your own! In 2019, readers selected Winc as the Best Wine Box.

18. Book of the Month - Best Box For Avid Readers

Book of the Month was founded all the way back in 1926, and it's been going strong ever since! In 2019, Book of the Month was voted Best Box For Avid Readers, and it's still a fan favorite in 2021. Kind of amazing how a subscription can be relevant in the 1920's, 2019, and 2021!

19. Heart & Honey - Best Box For Adults-Only

In our 2019 reader poll, BarkBox earned top marks and won the title of Best Box For Dog Owners. In 2021, you'll still find the company sending out treats and adorable dog toys that are designed to last!

Fun Facts About Readers' Choice in 2019

  • Quite a few subs won awards for the first time in 2019: Heart + Honey, Winc, Boxycharm, Allure Beauty Box, kidpik, Gentleman’s Box, and OwlCrate.
  • Several boxes made the list for the second year in a row. Congrats again CatLadyBox, CAUSEBOX (now Alltrue), Birchbox, and Dollar Shave Club.
  • A whopping nine winners in 2019 celebrated their third annual win in the MSA Readers' Choice Awards. Can we get a round of applause for Loot Crate, BarkBox, Book of the Month, HelloFresh, Graze, POPSUGAR, Ipsy, Stitch Fix, and FabFitFun!?
  • (Grab the tissues.) A couple of subscriptions that were reader favorites in 2019 are now shuttered. R.I.P. POPSUGAR Must Have and Graze.
  • Book of the Month is the longest-running subscription voted onto our 2019 Readers' Choice list. It was founded way back in 1926!
