kidpik Spring 2020 Review

When you sign up, they ask you a few questions related to your child's size and style preferences. Clothing sizes range from 4 to 16 and shoes range from Toddler 9 to Youth 6.

I like that kidpik is very specific in some of their options such as "please do not include jeans" so that you can really tailor it to your girl's clothing needs or preferences. I also love that they ask how sparkly your girl is. Mine is pretty sparkly these days!

When you check out, you have the option to return, exchange or donate the items for free using the postage-paid envelope they provided. For donations, they partner with Good + Foundation to donate clothing to girls in need!

Inside our box, there was a pamphlet with a thank you note on the front and kidpik's contact and social media info on the back. They tend to post a lot on social media, so if you ever want to see the types of outfits they send out, I suggest following them! Inside they provided information in the booklet on how the process works along with our invoice. Our total came to $188.50 for all 7 items, but with the 30% discount for keeping all items, the total comes to $131.95. That’s a savings of $56.55 on these items if we choose to keep everything.

Another unique thing about kidpik is that they always include a free gift for your girl. You get to keep this whether you keep any of the clothes or not. This month they included this cute little bracelet.

My daughter loved having a cute little accessory like this!

If you choose to get shoes with your kidpik delivery, they will arrive in a separate little bag like this. These are great for keeping your shoes in when traveling!

Crackle Metallic Sneakers in Silver, Size Youth 2 - Cost to Keep $34.50 ($24.15 with discount)

My daughter was so excited to see these shiny sneakers in her box. Since she has very wide feet and their sneakers tend to run a bit smaller or more narrow in size, they thoughtfully sent her a size up from her regular size 1 and these were a perfect fit! They are still a little long on her, so if you have narrow feet, sticking to your normal size should be fine. She finds these to be comfortable and since they have a little zipper on the side, they are really easy for her to slip on by herself. Since this isn't our first box, we know that these shoes hold up well over time, too!

Here you can see a closeup of them on her feet.

Epic Tassle Tee, Size 7/8 - Cost to Keep $17.50 ($12.25 with discount)

Our shirt is kind of edgy this month! It has unfinished edges at the sleeves and sequins that read "Epic" with some fun silver tassels hanging down from each letter. She loved the embellishments and while we aren't usually ones for phrases, this one is basic enough! I love the mix of silver and black and I thought the fit was really great on her. It was nice and long and the soft cotton is comfortable, too.

Boyfriend Jeans, Size 7 - Cost to Keep $29.50 ($20.65 with discount)

These jeans are super fun. They are definitely not a style I would have picked out for her with the moderate distressing, but I think the cuffed look is so cute and works well with the style. I think these are supposed to fit a little shorter on her, but for now we can just give the cuff an extra roll. She is not usually a fan of jeans, but since these have a looser fit, I think I will be able to convince her to wear them more so than the skinny jean style. While they are a little big on her, I'm always okay with that since she usually grows into things in no time. These also have an adjustable waist, so they don't fall down on her waist!

Here you can see the whole look together with her new shoes!

Lurex Stripe Baseball Jacket, Size S (7/8) - Cost to Keep $36.50 ($25.55 with discount)

They always send the cutest jackets in this subscription! They are so stylish and unique, and usually perfect for a young girl's style. This jacket is no exception! It is a really fun style with metallic pink and silver stripes which tie in well with our shirt and shoes. It has a nice lightweight lining and cute details at the cuffs and hemlines. It's just such a fun design! The fit of this one was great, too.

Crinkle Rosette Ruffle Hem Skirt, Size S (7/8) - Cost to Keep $22.50 ($15.75 with discount)

The skirt they sent her is another fun girly piece with lots of ruffles. I love the colors and the tiny floral design that almost resembles little berries to me. She loves that it is a nice full skirt that she can twirl around in. It has a stretchy waistband and another layer underneath to keep it from being too sheer. I can see this being something she will wear often! It will be so cute in the summer with a pink tank top.

Lace Bodice Skater Dress, Size S (7/8) - Cost to Keep $22.50 ($15.75 with discount)

This dress was her absolute favorite item in the box and it is so very pretty! The skirt is beautiful and flowy (see below) with two layers and the top has this nice lacy material with little shimmery bits of sequins strewn throughout giving it just a bit of sparkle. I love the cut of the dress and it fits her so well! We've already said this will make a perfect Easter dress for her to wear since it is so nice. She has some white sandals that will work perfectly with it.

Her favorite part is the way it twirls! She was really loving this dress and wanted to wear it to play outside in. Since it's white, that was a big fat no from me this time, but once she wears it for Easter, I will let her have free reign with this one which means she will probably choose to wear it every day!

The dress is actually more of an off-white, eggshell color which you don't really notice until you get the more stark white jacket next to it.

Studded Backpack - Cost to Keep $25.50 ($17.85 with discount)

Each season they send an accessory to go along with your outfits and this mini backpack is so cute! I love the simple black color with the silver buckles on the straps. The silver studs are a fun detail, too. My daughter really loved it and she stored her little bracelet inside the pocket right away. The smaller pocket on the front has a little snap closure and a zipper opens the larger compartment. It's very small, but perfect for a young girl.

Here she is modeling her new bag.

The Verdict: I always enjoy seeing what fun fashion picks kidpik will send to us each season. It is so much fun for my daughter to get shoes, accessories and unique clothing styled just for her. She really loved everything in her box, especially that beautiful dress! I think they did a great job of including a mix of items that work well on their own, but yet can also be styled together. I thought everything fit her very well with the exception of the jeans, but that is a struggle that we have in general since she is a 5-year-old with the height of a 7-year-old! Even those were easy to make work since they had the adjustable waistband. Since the keep-all price is $131.95 that gives each of the 7 items an average cost of $18.85 which is a bit higher than their listed average of $13.50 per piece, but I am happy with the quality and unique styles we received. The prices are on par with other boutique services and I love that they style a box just for her with such a range of items from accessories to dresses to shoes and jackets! Since the styling fee is free, there's no real risk in trying out this service, either!

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? kidpik curates its boxes based on each individual’s preferences as well as what season it is. You might get something that fits your girl’s style even better than the items that we received.

Value Breakdown: This box cost $0 with free shipping and returns. The total retail value of the items inside is $188.50. The invoice lists the cost of each item next to it, but if we keep all 7 items, then we get a 30% discount. This would bring the price down to $131.95 for the 7 items, which is an average of $18.85 per item.

While I have been reviewing boxes since 2018 and I love the luxury of trying new products, I'm also balancing it out by dabbling in a little bit of homesteading, too. We now have 4 chickens and a rabbit and my sourdough starter is going strong! I love learning about new brands and sharing the great things I find with others in hopes that they find something new to love or to fit their needs!

The biggest problem is they are a pain to cancel. I went to cancel today temporarily (daughter has too many clothes!) and I am required to call between 10AM-6PM EST Mon-Fri (excluding holidays).

It was easy to sign up , but a nightmare to cancel. It should be just as easy to cancel. They lost a loyal customer as a result of these practices.

My one issue is that if your child hates an item, you either suck it up and keep it or return and lose your discount. This time, they sent a narrow denim midi skirt. It is loose in the waist but she has to walk like her legs were tied together because there is no stretch. It bells out slightly towards the bottom of her calf. It took her a few steps to just hike it up over her knees. If I keep it, the box is $110. Return and it’s more than it was to keep it. That one skirt makes a difference, and she needs another bottom. That’s a deal breaker for me.

My girls received their first box. The shorts and skits were way too big and fell off of them. They didn’t have their size to replace them. I give the company zero stars for size.

This isn’t a bad box especially with the discount.

Love the shoes, white dress & backpack. Totally worth it for those items.
