Birchbox Clean Beauty Review February 2021
1 of 2 2 of 2 As always, this month’s Birchbox came with an info card that lists the products on the front, with a Birchbox Tip listed on the back.
1 of 2 2 of 2 NatureLab Tokyo Perfect Repair Leave-In Treatment, 1 fl oz – Estimated Value $3.27 (Buy a full-size 4.9 fl oz for $16.00 here) I colored my hair at the very beginning of quarantine, and now that the color’s growing out, the ends of my hair are a dry, parched texture, and running my fingers through it makes a sound similar to that of Rice Krispies… Snap, crackle, pop go my ends. So, any product that nourishes, hydrates, and repairs damaged, color-treated hair is the apple of my eye. NatureLab Tokyo’s Perfect Repair Leave-In Treatment is a super lightweight, foaming conditioner with a nutrient-rich formula that includes argan oil, prickly pear oil, cupuacu butter, and bamboo stem cells that strengthens damaged hair and promotes healthy hair growth. The product has a very light, clean high-end salon-like scent that I enjoy, and the foaming texture makes it easy to apply. Nothing slips through your fingers or falls out of your hand while you’re trying to get it on your head. I focused application on the ends of my hair since they are the most damaged, and the leave-in conditioner made my ends feel softer right after using.
1 of 3 2 of 3 3 of 3 Sand & Sky Australian Pink Clay Porefining Face Mask, 13 g – Estimated Value $10.81 (Buy a full-size 60 g for $49.90 here) If you have Instagram and don’t live under a rock with Patrick from SpongeBob, then you know all about Sand & Sky’s Australian Pink Clay Porefining Face Mask. I’ve tried this product before and really enjoyed it. The formula has wonderful ingredients, including Australian pink clay, Kakadu plum, and mangosteen, that all work together to purify, tighten pores, even out skin tone, and repair damaged cells. I think this mask does a wonderful job. My skin always feels tighter, without feeling dry, and my complexion looks brighter after each use. The mask works well with oily or combination and sensitive or dry skin.
1 of 3 2 of 3 3 of 3 too cool for school All-in-One Egg Mellow Cream 5-in-1 Firming Moisturizer, 15 ml – Estimated Value $10.80 (Buy a full-size 50 ml for $36.00 here) I’ve had the opportunity to try too cool for school’s All-in-One Egg Mellow Cream 5-in-1 Firming Moisturizer in the past. What impressed me was that this product can be utilized as a serum, a neck cream, a moisturizer, an eye cream, or a sleeping mask. The moisturizer has a rich, creamy texture that is also light and airy and has a light, delectable, warm scent that reminds me of a spiced latte or a chai. My skin feels dewy and bright, not greasy or sticky after using the product. The moisturizer applies smoothly and absorbs quickly. I’m a huge fan of K-beauty, and this product was just as exceptional as others I’ve tried. Formulated with egg yolk, this little powerhouse is anti-aging and collagen-infused to firm, hydrate, and plump skin.
1 of 3 2 of 3 3 of 3 Balance Me Congested Skin Serum, 7 ml – Estimated Value $10.73 (Buy a full-size 15 ml for $23.00 here) Balance Me’s Congested Skin Serum is an incredibly lightweight spot treatment, perfect for targeting blackheads and blemishes. I always have one or two stubborn blemishes on my forehead near my hairline, thanks to all the oils, conditioners, and serums I apply to my hair. This product is perfect for treating those specific areas. It clears congested pores, eliminates redness and inflammation, without drying out or irritating my skin. Formulated with kanuka oil and moringa oil, and infused with calming eucalyptus, this handy little powerhouse blasts away acne-causing bacteria, while fortifying your skin’s protective barrier and relieving irritation. It has a fairly strong, natural, herbaceous scent that gives me a medicinal vibe but doesn’t irritate my skin. I’m happy to have this product again.
1 of 4 2 of 4 3 of 4 4 of 4 bareMinerals Bounce & Blur Blush – Mauve Sunrise, 0.05 oz – Estimated Value $7.63 (Buy a full-size 0.19 oz for $29.00 here) I’m not usually a blush person, mostly because your girl has got a heavy hand and I always end up looking like a carnival clown or one of those creepy little ballerinas sitting on top of a music box. But this bareMinerals Bounce & Blur Blush in Mauve Sunrise gives a surprisingly subtle look and blends out beautifully to give my face a natural-looking flush. You don’t even need a brush. This blush is super fingertip-friendly and the powder is almost weightless and expertly blurs the look of pores without any harsh lines or uneven texture left behind. I love that bareMinerals’ products not only make you look good, but also they’re good for you. This blush is formulated with a blend of hydrating botanical ingredients, naturally derived from moss, minerals, and Vitamin B. Here is a swatch of the bareMinerals Bounce & Blur Blush in Mauve Sunrise. Verdict: I really enjoyed this month’s Clean Beauty Curated Option 2 Birchbox. I thought there was a nice variety of products. I really love the NatureLab Tokyo’s Leave-In Treatment. Since my hair is color damaged, this product is incredibly useful to me. The Balance Me Congested Skin Serum is a wonderful clean staple product that I love to have on hand to treat acne emergencies. Masks are always great to get, and I love that Birchbox included something as trendy as Sand & Sky’s Australian Pink Clay Porefining Face Mask. bareMinerals’ Bounce & Blur Blush in Mauve Sunrise blends out so naturally and creates such a healthy-looking flush on my face without any clown vibes. I simply love it. I also really enjoyed the too cool for school’s All-in-One Egg Mellow Cream 5-in-1 Firming Moisturizer. I love the lightweight hydration it provides and the wonderful whipped texture. With a total retail value of $43.24 on a $15 subscription, I definitely feel like you get your money’s worth. With this particular curation, you have the opportunity to try lots of clean, vegan, cruelty-free products. To Wrap Up: Can you still get this box if you sign up today? Wow, all of those were Birchbox products when I first subbed several years ago. Not much has changed, I miss when BB was new to me and still exciting.
Your review of the Egg Mellow Creme makes me want to try it! I love the Too Cool for School Rules of Mastic line but have never tried their other products.
