Birchbox just announced an update for customization:

Starting in June, each month we will have two Featured Boxes you can choose from, with more quantities available than we’ve had in previous months:

  • Option 1: We will always have a Clean Beauty Box. All the samples in your box will be free of 13+ ingredients, so you can feel good about what you’re putting on your skin. It's clear our subscribers want this and we're making it possible to get a clean box every time if you choose this option.

  • Option 2: A box curated by our Co-founder and CEO Katia. In her curated box, you’ll be able to try products and brands she loves, so you can learn more about and follow her beauty routine.

Here's a look at the curated box options for June:

Clean Beauty Box:

  • Davines The Spotlight Circle Shine Hair Mask
  • Art Naturals Sweet Orange Essential Oil
  • COOLA® Organic Makeup Setting Spray SPF 30
  • Wander Beauty Double Date Lip and Cheek
  • Daily Concepts Your Facial Mini Scrubber

Katia's Picks Box

  • Alterna My Hair My Canvas New Beginnings Exfoliating Cleanser
  • Oribe Dry Texturizing Spray
  • Benefit Cosmetics Chachatint Lip & Cheek Stain
  • BYROE Rice Cleansing Sorbet
  • Love of Color One & Done Shadow Stick

Selection day is on May 26th for Aces, May 27th for everyone else. If you haven't signed up yet, check out all the latest Birchbox coupon here!

If you aren't familiar with Birchbox sample choice, each month subscribers get to pick one of the samples in their box, pick a completely revealed curated box for that month, or swap it. (Alternatively, you can pick nothing and get a complete surprise.)

I’ve been a subscriber since 2014 and was starting to get excited by Birchbox again. Loved having so many different choices and full size items but now it seems like a bait and switch with all their talk about the new changes coming.

I totally agree.

I feel like Ipsy and Birchbox competed for subscribers in the past bc of the similar model and price point back then, but reading reviews and subbing to both boxes in the past, I think Birchbox is really struggling. $15 for basically what they offered in their $10 boxes…while ipsy’s still cheaper than them and has what seems like more full-sizes and a bag. Idk I think Birchbox needs to hire some new minds or something

What happened to 6 items per box they promised when they raised the price?

I feel like there will be less options. I really liked the choices of more boxes. There was an entire box of Oribe one time and I scooped it up! Another time I got a full size Benefit blush instead of a box. Birchbox was starting to make a comeback, but now I feel it will go downhill again.

I, too, signed up for an annual for the beach waver deal and feel like I’ve basically just been paying monthly for the tool. This sub has given me the least amount of sample items I will ever use from all the subs I’ve tried, and I can’t wait for it to be over!!!!

I’m in it for the same beachwaver deal. At least the year is almost up. The last two months I chose to trade the box for points. I hope we can do that again. These two boxes look boring.

Neither of these boxes are appealing to me. i’m waiting to see what the sample choice is. Either way, I’m stuck with Birchbox for a year.

Not a fan of neither of these boxes,I still hope we can choose one item.

Do you think it is just a choice of these 2 boxes only? I read it that way. I have been with Birchbox since 2012 , if this is correct I will cancel. Very sad

Now that the have the clean beauty box each month, I’m thinking of switching back from IPSY.

Any idea if we still can swap for points? I am stuck in a year sub with them and have gotten points since January. Can’t wait until this sub is over.

I received an email that said they will still offer the sample choice or choice to swap, along with these 2 curated options. (I’m going to miss having more to choose from, I feel like Birchbox raised their price then went to even smaller samples and fewer full size items than before, and now fewer choices!)

That’s because that is exactly what they did, and was their intent all along, IMO.
The new and improved Birchbox, for which they raised their price, was nothing but hype.

Melissa

I also want to know if we can still swap for points. It doesn’t seem like it. I have 2 subs. If I can’t swap for points anymore, I will cancel one.
