Kiwi Crate is a long standing favorite in my house! Both my kids just love it. Every month, they send all the supplies and instructions to complete 2-3 activities based on a theme. They also send a great magazine for early readers. The materials they send are really high quality for the price, and it’s sure to keep your child engaged for at least 5-10 hours (not all at one time!).

#5 – History Unboxed – $29.97 / month

Use coupon code MYSA294 to save 50% off your first box (regular subscription only)

Great for kids: Ages 5-15 who want to learn more about ancient history!

It seems like, in twelve years of history lessons from primary education, children would be learning everything important that ever happened in the history of the world, but in fact, there’s quite a lot that’s left out from the standard curriculum. This is what I love about History Unboxed. Not only have my children learned about ancient history from around the world, so have I! Learning together is one of my favorite things to do with my children, and we seem to go on an adventure through history together every month with History Unboxed! History Unboxed provides lessons, activities, avenues for further learning and research, crafts, snacks, recipes, and all kinds of learning enhancement.

#6 – Groovy Lab in a Box – $26.95 / month

Use coupon code GROOVYNOW20 to save 20% off your first box.

Great for kids: Ages 10-16 who love science!

Groovy Lab in a Box is perfect for both kids who love science, and kids who need a little boost in science. Every box is curated around a scientific principle, and extensive lab work is provided to reinforce that principle. That may sound pretty heavy, but the experiments are usually pretty fun! This subscription is also one that I consider a huge value, not just because of the educational value, but because it actually takes a lot of time for kids to work through all the activities!

#7 – Reading Bug Box – $27.99 / month

Great for kids: All ages that love to read, and/or want to have an impressive summer reading list this year!

At the end of every school year, my kids always bring home one thing for sure: a worksheet for them to keep track of everything they read all summer. Your best resource for helping you find books that are appropriate for your child’s reading level will always be your local librarian. But do you have time to go to the library? Do you keep track of when books are due back? Do the books ever get lost or damaged? This is where Reading Bug Box can be a huge help! Every month they hand-select books for your child, and so far everything they have sent us has been a huge hit in our house! They also send little extras like art supplies to keep the creativity flowing! It’s so important to keep your kids reading over the summer, and the Reading Bug Box actually makes them want to read.

Great for kids: Ages 9-16 who love to create!

Both my sons love Doodle Crate, and I was really afraid they would think it was too “girly.” So far the projects have been fairly gender neutral, and the boys are really into it! As with all Kiwi Crate products, I am consistently impressed with the materials and the project selections. This subscription yields the most impressive keepsakes, too!

Every month he sends a package filled with activity books, crafts, recipes, postcards, stickers and treasures from his most recent expedition. The online content is impressive with this subscription, including no less than four video updates per month. The most impressive thing to me, however, is that Greg answers each and every email (or letter) from subscribers – individually.

  1. I would love to see a review on baby focused boxes! I found Baby Booth Box, but I haven’t seen any reviews so I don’t know if I would like it or not.

  2. I’d like to see a kid’s clothing subscription that offered slim and husky sizes. It’s not a one size fits all world.

  3. My nephew, 11 yr old, has been on Tinker Crate for a year. He says they are too easy. And he literally finishes them in minutes. Are there any out there that are a little more advanced? Thanks

  4. Fred’s Box is a UK children’s subscription box sending minifigures direct to your door.

  5. Would love to see a comparison of book boxes for kids. We are loving Bookroo!

    • Good idea Ashleigh!

    • I’m loving Bookroo, Litjoy and Lil Bear Book Club! Great idea!
