We Are All About Regifting From Subscription Boxes

Five of our favorite giftable brands are available right now!

We've all come to the realization that gifting may look a little different this holiday season. Not only will some of our most cherished holiday traditions require a bit of creativity to keep going, but, for some, in-person present shopping and even face-to-face gift exchanging might not feel like the best option. That's why this year we've decided to let you in on a little secret: subscription box regifting. We're serious! It's our favorite way  to shop for the gift recipients on our list for a few reasons. It's amazing to have help selecting high-quality items, everything ships in one box at the same time, and, the big one, it's quite cost-effective. We're going to walk you through some of the most sought-after quarterly subscriptions and you'll get to see for yourself why easy Christmas gifting with subscription boxes is the way to go. We've also paired each of the items that come in these boxes with our suggestions of who might make a great gift recipient!

Updated on 11/2/20 to add the Paper Source Winter 2020 box to the list, and on 11/12/20 to add a link to our Paper Source review.

About the box: FabFitFun is a quarterly lifestyle box that sends a curation of high-quality products for your home, your vanity, your wardrobe, and more. How many giftable items come in the Winter 2020 box? 5 out of 8 total items, though with some additional stocking stuffer potential!

Here are our fave FabFitFun gift picks:

FabFitFun is filled with fabulous gift ideas, but we can't get enough of these three. The set of kate spade earrings is an utterly classic duo—one that would be just as cherished by our grandmothers or mothers as it would by our friends and nieces.

The Lilly Pulitzer mug set makes us smile thinking of soul-filling conversation enjoyed with someone we love over coffee or tea. Maybe that person is in your pod and you'll give this gift to make those mornings together extra-special, or maybe you're doing video dates these days, in which case you may mail one and keep one!

For makeup-lovers, palettes are one way of feeling totally treated. Sometimes we treat ourselves, and other times it's a thoughtful friend (that would be you in this case) who makes our dreamy eye wishes come true. The pinks, soft tones, and spicy accents of this Laura Geller eyeshadow palette are pure magic!

Expand the sections below to see a list of every option and for whom they'd make the perfect gift. FabFitFun offers lots of options for customization, so you'll have a say in some of the items you'll receive!

Hi there, I'm Christen. I am all sorts of things:

🌳 a writer who loves to convey feeling

🌲 a mother who wants to have just as much fun as my kids do

🌳 an outdoors-lover who's achieved #1000hoursoutside with my family

🌲 a low-maintenance self-carer

🌳 a general hungry person with an unstoppable sweet tooth

You'll find me collecting stationery and squirreling away stickers, riding bikes and swimming with my family, creating outfits in colors and silhouettes that make me feel amazing, wearing big earrings, drinking beer and asking my husband to feed me harmonies to sing, taking my vitamins, living for dancing to live music, roping everyone into a craft, being human and vulnerable, and celebrating the phenomenon of being alive.

...and doing it all with energy, delight, and jokes along the way.

Word to the wise, Causebox and FFF are notorious for shipping after they say they will, even prior years when there was not a pandemic, and they don’t give refunds so probably not wise to buy those with the intention of gifting the contents for Christmas with no guarantee they will arrive on time and no way to return them when they arrive in January.

I can’t speak to what has happened in the past with Causebox, but I signed up for a yearly membership for myself and a seasonal for my daughter in Australia. I ordered 11/11, received the boxes 11/23, sent my daughters box 11/25 and she should received it overnight tonight or tomorrow night. I had one question about her box and my question was answered immediately. She got the best of the best items.

I honestly could not have been happier with Causebox. Unlike my first and what will likely be my last box with Curateur, which I ordered the same day. Total lack of communication, overcharged my credit card and no idea when or if I will get a box. I looked at their Better Business Bureau ranking, all the same complaints. I’ve learned a quick lesson.

Thanks for calling this out, Joy. It’s definitely been a point of frustration for some subscribers. We are keeping our eye on their websites in hopes that they post specific “order by” dates for guaranteed holiday delivery and will be sure to update this post if and when they do!

Really? Given all the negative comments on all the recent MSA posts featuring Curator, I’m astonished to see it listed here! At this point I wouldn’t even think of getting it for myself, let alone plan to gift it.

One truly great box (with excellent customer service) that’s missing here is Bespoke Post. Those boxes make great gifts. I’ve given several in the past and they are always loved AND actually used!

BTW – Meundies just launched Harry Potter-themed collections. Get your Griffindor, Slytherin, Ravenclaw, or Hufflepuff robes, underwear, socks, etc. now!

Hey Beth, thank you so much for all this great feedback! For this list we wanted to highlight boxes that have a super-high value to show that even if you only regift a couple of items it’s still a cost-effective way to shop. But I totally hear your frustrations and appreciate your concern.

As for your other suggestions—yes and yes! We LOVE Bespoke Post for gifting and their offerings are such great quality. Good looks on the HP undies, I might have to grab a pair of Slytherins for myself. 😉
