The See New Skincare Box is a $56 bi-monthly beauty box filled with green beauty items that focus on cruelty-free, chemical-free, and sustainably sourced ingredients.

My Subscription Addiction paid for this box. (Check out our editorial guidelines to learn more about how we review boxes.)

First Impressions:

The brand this month is Earth Harbor!

The Products

This box delivered five amazing products from this wonderful brand.

Let's dive in!

AHOY LOVE Nourishing Cream Cleanser, 2 fl oz - Retail Value $19

I really love the Earth Harbor brand. Their serums and oils are some of my favorites! That being said, this cleanser was a big miss for me. I was really excited to try it out but it had a weird texture and didn't feel good on my face. I think this is because it stung a little. I had a dermaplane last week so my skin is a little sensitive. And the number 3 ingredient here is cane alcohol and it has that evaporating alcohol sort of vibe on my face. I also didn't think it felt very great as I massaged it in, though it did clean my face just fine and I didn't notice any dryness or irritation after I washed it off This one just might not have been my cup of tea. I am wondering if this might be a better fit for someone with oilier skin?

CACAO COVE Detoxifying Vitamin C Mask, 2 oz - Retail Value $28

This mask was delightful! It arrives as a dry powder made of cacao, green clay, algae, coconut milk, and charcoal. And it smells like some sort of chocolate-lemon dream dessert! You can mix it with water or get creative with yogurt or even your favorite carrier oil (I recommend rosehip seed!). It is calming and cooling when applied and a pretty brown color. I like to wash clay masks off before they fully dry, but if you are oilier or just want a deeper detox mask moment, let it dry completely before gently washing it off.

CELESTINE Hydra-Plumping Peptide Serum, 1 fl oz - Retail Value $45

Celestine is a hyaluronic acid-focused serum designed to plump and hydrate skin with peptides, aloe, and niacinamide. Again, there is some cane alcohol in here and I felt it hit my skin, but I want to reiterate that I just had a super exfoliating skin service within the last week and I am betting that if I hadn't, I likely wouldn't notice as much. There is a strong scent here of lemongrass which isn't my favorite, but it is tempered some by that herbaceous blue tansy smell that I do enjoy. Overall, this is a solid option for anyone who enjoys a hyaluronic serum in their routine and its beautiful blue hue is even more to love.

MERMAID MILK Nutrient Glow Moisturizer, 2 fl oz- Retail Value $42

This is another familiar product to me, but I was glad to see it again. A little side note before we dive in: this is a coconut oil heavy moisturizer. Most of you know that I always like to give this heads up when I see an ingredient that has a higher comedogenic rating. So, if you are acne prone, test this one before diving in! Aside from that, it has moisturizers like aloe, antioxidant-rich matcha, hyaluronic acid, and turmeric! It smells like my favorite calming oil, Blue Tansy!

ECLIPSE Sheer Mineral Sunscreen, 1 fl oz - Retail Value $25

My final item was an SPF30 sunscreen which makes me very happy! I wear SPF every single day and so should you! This one is lightweight, non-greasy, and also full of other skin-loving ingredients like aloe, green tea, and shea. It left zero chalky cast and didn't have much of a scent. Earth Harbor also sells a larger bottle which I will probably be investing in when this one is running low.

Verdict

See New: The Skincare Box is such a fun box. If you are looking to do a deep dive into one new brand at a time, you really can't miss out on this one. This month delivered $159 for a cost of $56 and is an excellent introduction to this sea-themed and USA-made brand. I do wish some of my favorite serums would have made the cut for this curation (seriously, Marina, Helios, and Aurora are my jams!) but I think subscribers are really going to enjoy the selection here.

  • Cleanser $6.69
  • Mask $9.86

I love natural/vegan beauty products, Korean skincare, unique jewelry, and weird candies from far away places. When I am not waiting for my next exciting box you can find me painting or taking photographs of interesting people. I never leave home without pug hair somewhere on my shirt and a bold lipstick on my smile.

Looks like the See New box is over 🙁. They just posted on Instagram that they will be pausing the Nov/Dec box after previously announcing that they would pause the Sept/Oct box. Apparently, they will relaunch their site in January 2023 as a minimalist curation of luxury skin care, whatever that means. It doesn’t sound like it would be a subscription box anymore.

I have tried a few products from Earth Harbor and was thinking of seeing if I could order this box. Then, I read the comments and I’m not so sure.

I just received email that they will not be billing or sending Sept/Oct. I went ahead and canceled my sub (even though I was at the low introductory rate). I have way too much product anyway. I wish this sun well. I think they provided an amazing box – just in the new economy it is going to be hard to make money and deliver such great value. 😒

I didn’t receive any notification from SeeNew, but I did read about this on another blog. So strange how everything seemed to be going so smoothly, then they relocated to Texas, and everything went south, not just shipping delays but also their customer service.

Are you saying there will be no Sept/Oct box?! Never received such an email. If so, that is not a good sign.

I was about to post the same thing. Right, no Sept/Oct box (and no one should be charged if you’re monthly); they said everything will be pushed to Nov/Dec and they’ll be updating us in Sept. Definitely not a good sign!

Yes they seem to be pausing to sort out their logistics issues.

I cancelled my sub mainly for financial reasons – I did love it – but I agree that their cs is horrible. There’s absolutely no excuse. I wouldn’t resubscribe for that reason alone.

I unfortunately have to agree…I sang their praise before, but then when I had an issue that went unresolved and left me completely hanging…it leaves such a bad aftertaste. I personally don’t care if it’s a “small team.” Leaving customers in the dark about something is plain old bad business. I ended up skipping this box because I’m on a strict skincare regimen….can you believe I am STILL trying to get my face back to normal after some horrendously strong glycolic peels from last Fall? It’s beyond depressing….

I ended up cancelling. I skipped a box and thought I had resumed my subscription. I also contacted them several times to make sure it would resume, but no answer.

I received my box about a week after emailing them to ask when it would be shipped out. That was approximately three weeks after my card was charged. Hope everyone receives their box soon.

Still waiting for this box… I have a prepaid subscription and it never shipped

I would have loved to have gotten this box but they completely ghosted me after an order I made in April that never got shipped. I tried to contact them thru every channel but got no response. They even deleted a comment on instagram. I finally has to dispute thru my credit card company. I’m really disappointed because they had been great up until that point.

I agree they have a wonderful product, but a genuine customer service problem. When I emailed them asking about a status update over two weeks after they charged my credit card, they never replied, but sent me a shipping confirmation the very next day. The “shipping confirmation” was only that they printed out a shipping label; they didn’t actually make shipment for another week or so. When I commented on their lack of response on instagram, they almost immediately deleted my comment. As much as I like their box, there’s only so much I can put up in terms of their offensive customer service.

My experience was the same: My card was charged and then nothing. I tried repeatedly contacting them through the chat, email, etc. and got just auto-reply answers (“we’ll get back to you shortly…”). When I sent yet another email saying that if I did not receive a response by X date, I’d be filing a dispute with my credit card and cancelling my subscription, suddenly my box had a label and was shipped; I received it about 3-4 days later. Up until this point the subscription had worked well and I never needed to contact them. They handled this really poorly. If they’d just been transparent about what was going on, I’d likely feel differently. I’ve read that others haven’t received their last box yet (May/June), which is really bad given this is a bi-monthly subscription. I don’t have the patience to deal with this kind of poor service any more, so as much as I’ve enjoyed the boxes I’ve received I’m still cancelling–I’m not willing to put this much work into receiving what I’ve paid for.

I think they were in the process of moving around that time and were pretty incommunicado for awhile.

I knew they were moving and I was fine with a shipping delay. At first they communicated, then they just stopped and I could get no answer thru any channel (chat, email, Instagram, etc.) I waited over two months and never got any resolution because they would not answer me. From comments I have seen online, I’m not the only one. Almost fours months later and still no response.
