LAPCOS Pearl Sleeping Cream Sprout, 0.60 fl oz. - Retail Value $6.00
I was really intrigued by this product! It says that the formula works to brighten, tone, and exfoliate your skin all while you sleep. This cream is recommended for dry skin- which is all me- and they recommend using this two times per week or as needed. All you have to do is apply it to your skin as the last step in your nighttime routine, then wash and rinse it off in the morning. The Pearl Extract and Glycolic Acid work to exfoliate your skin while the Bilberries have strong antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. I have used this cream twice so far and am really loving it! It is super simple to use and I love that it does the work for me through the night. I woke both mornings with a super smooth glow to my skin and an improvement in my dry areas.
Bellapierre Shimmer Powder in Wow, 0.08 oz. - Retail Value $15.00
This powder could have arrived in Coral Reef, Reddish, or Wow. I received the Wow shimmer shade and it is very purple/pink. This powder is made with 100% pure Mica powder and is hypoallergenic so it works really well on all skin types and won't irritate sensitive skin or eyes. They recommend using this as a highlighter, eyeshadow, or on your lips. I rarely use lighter shimmer colors like this one anymore, so I decided to add a layer of it over a solid brown shade that I really love. I was pleasantly surprised with the results! It looks subtle from a distance, but when the light would catch the shimmer it was a really bold pink tone that really sparkled. I tried so hard to get a good picture of it in the light, but it just was not working out for me (please excuse my eyebrows they are in need of a full brow shaping appointment). While I can't say that I am now sold on pink shimmer shadows, I really liked how this looked, and will be using it more often for a fun look!
Avant Skincare Velvet Perfecting Rose Sugar Lip Scrub, 0.34 fl oz. - Retail Value $71.00
Wow, this is an expensive lip scrub! After some research, it looks like Avant has a top-selling scrub that they reformulated into a lip scrub, which is super cool. Some of the top ingredients include rose, peony, glycerin, sucrose, jojoba seed oil, water, argania Spinosa shell powder, aroma, carbomer, phenoxyethanol, and sweet almond oil. The formula was created to buff away dead skin cells, protecting your lips against UV rays and free radicals while reducing pigmentation and revealing your lip's natural glow. They recommend applying a small amount of the scrub with your fingertips and rubbing the product in gently to exfoliate away dead skin cells. Leave the scrub on for one to two minutes before rinsing off with warm water. I really did like this product, it left my lips feeling soft and prepped for a matte lipstick, but I'm still not sure I would pay so much for it. The bottle is big for a scrub though which is great so I know I will have this for a long time!.
SYS Moisturizing Cream, 20 mL - Retail Value $19.99 (buy 50 mL here for $39.99)
My dry skin has been so happy and hydrated lately, so thank you to all of the boxes the past two months for sending these ultra-hydrating products! This cream is made with prickly pear extract and vegan probiotics. The formula works to supply your skin with intensive moisture while reducing the look of dryness lines. You can use this both in the morning and at night. I love that this is hydrating without being too thick. I have been applying a smaller amount in the morning before my primer, and then really slathering it in the evening along with my other evening products. This is really working wonders for my dehydrated skin and has improved those little dry patches that my makeup always seems to set into.
Natura PATAUÁ Strengthening Shampoo and Conditioner Deluxe Mini Set, 30 mL - Retail Value $8.00 (buy the full-size 300 mL set for $47.00)
If you follow my reviews then you know that most of my hair products get passed along to my husband to test. I have a lot of hair, so sample sizes like this are rarely enough product for me so I never feel like I am giving the product a proper chance. My husband has long fine hair, but since he started coloring it again, he has noticed that the ends tend to get frizzy and unruly. Let me start by saying that he was obsessed with this shampoo and conditioner set. It smelled amazing, almost like warm vanilla. I came downstairs and could smell it instantly, and even my son said how good Daddy's hair smelled. Both products work to strengthen, protect, and treat dry damaged hair. They are made with Patauá Oil from Brazil, protein-rich Jojoba, and Panthenol. The shampoo had a really nice lather, leaving my husband's hair feeling soft yet super clean. The conditioner was thick so it worked really well at detangling his ends. Not only did this make his hair smell amazing, but it looked clean, shiny, and healthy. I have been getting a few comments asking to see my husband's hair which I provided above, he really loves taking care of his long locks and was blown away by how well this mini set worked for him!
Verdict: This month's GlossyBox was a great curation of products. My skin was so happy to receive two products that focused on exfoliating and hydrating dry skin. The sleeping cream is so fun and unique, doing all of the hard exfoliating work while I sleep. I noticed improved smoothness over some of my dry areas, and an overall glow after both times that I used the cream. It also feels really gentle but packs a big punch in helping to improve the overall texture of your skin. The moisturizing cream is thick and hydrating while still working well with my makeup. I love that it focuses on targeting dry lines because that really is the trouble that I have been having lately with my skin. While I wasn't in love with the shimmer powder, it really took me out of my comfort zone and gave me a pretty in pink shimmer that really impressed my kids (they thought Mommy was a princess for a day). I can't wait to use it on a darker shadow for a date night out with my husband when we can go out again. The lip scrub was cray expensive, but it did work really well in improving the overall look and texture of my lips. My husband is becoming a shampoo and conditioner expert lately and he was floored by this mini set! The shampoo was hydrating while still lathering for that super clean feeling, and the thick conditioner worked wonders on his dry ends. The products this month have an estimated retail value of around $119.99 which is not bad for a $21.00 box. I think this box is top-notch for discovering beauty products and brands. I love that it comes with a mix of mini and full-size products, allowing me to test and learn as I go. It really is a little beauty treat every month for me!
