Universal Yums Halloween Box 2019 Review

As many of you know, Universal Yums is one of my all-time favorite subscriptions. When I found out they were releasing a one-time Halloween box- I was ecstatic! In this box, I received 6 different types of candy for a total of 300 pieces. This box was designed with trick-or-treating or parties in mind, as you can see by the box layout. While it is meant to be shared, my kids are BEGGING me to let them have it all to themselves… but maybe I want it just for me!

Serenata Milk Chocolate Wafers - Buy a 6.35 oz bag for $13.49

What a delightful surprise! We actually received the full-size version of this candy bar in the “Greece” box just last month, and we loved it! Getting 2 large bags of these made my day! The collaboration of milk chocolate and wafers is always good in my book, and this snack doesn’t disappoint. Each mini bar even has an extra chocolate drizzle on top for a beautiful finish. Will I be able to share these? I did receive about 50 mini bars, but they are just so good that I’m still deciding…

Sorini Chocolate Truffles with Strawberry Pop Rocks

Oh my goodness. I am in love! These beautiful truffles from Italy have a smooth milk chocolate outside, with white chocolate and strawberry pop rocks inside for a “popping” surprise! Not only are they pretty to look at, but they taste amazing! These are definitely my favorite candy in the box, so it’s going to be hard to share these!

Roshen Milky Splash Toffee - Buy a 2.2 lb bag for $20.75

Next up we have these yummy milk flavored toffees from Ukraine. I wasn’t quite sure what to expect with these little morsels, but I was pleasantly surprised. They are soft and creamy with a light milky cream flavor in the middle - the perfect after-dinner treat! My entire family really enjoyed these - good thing they sent 2 bags!

Universal Yums Halloween 2019 - Pineapple Salt Hard Candy Unopened Universal Yums Halloween 2019 - Pineapple Salt Hard Candy Opened

Pineapple Salt Hard Candy

Aren’t these candies just happy rays of sunshine?! I am loving the yellow packaging and the sweet little heart shapes! I didn’t realize this, but if you buy fresh pineapple from any vendor in Thailand, you’ll receive a packet of salt to sprinkle on top! These candies are a spin-off of that tradition. The hard outer shell has a sweet pineapple flavoring with a hint of saltiness. While I prefer chocolate treats, I did find this candy to be pleasant and unique!

Orange Chocolate Toffers

How cute are these little black and orange wrappers! These are the perfect treats for Halloween! I am loving the chewy (almost Tootsie Roll taste) these little bites have, especially because they are orange flavored! Thank you, Spain!!

Universal Yums Halloween 2019 - Sour Grape Chews Unopened Universal Yums Halloween 2019 - Sour Grape Chews Opened

Sour Grape Chews

I have to admit I didn’t look very closely at the package before I ripped this bright purple package open to sample it, and boy was I in for a surprise! This grape flavored chew from Colombia started out chewy and sweet, but as it softened, it suddenly became insanely sour! It slightly reminded me of “War Heads” but a bit more palatable. My kids LOVED these, and couldn’t wait to trick my husband into eating one!

Universal Yums Halloween 2019 - Trick Or Treat Box

The Verdict: This box was AWESOME! Universal Yums is a wonderful box in general, but this specialty Halloween box just put them over the top! I love everything about how they put this box together; The 6 different candies from different countries, the candy display system, and the included “field guide” just shows how much thought and time this company puts into their products. This box is such a great idea to bring to Halloween parties or for trick-or-treaters, it really makes it simple, and is so unique! It also didn’t hurt that I liked all 6 varieties of candies! I can’t wait to see what they come up with next! My kids are now hoping to see a Thanksgiving box, Christmas box, Easter box, and 4th of July box!

To Wrap Up:

Can I still get this box if I sign up today? Yes. This box is a one-time purchase- but supplies are limited, so they suggest you order right away.

Value Breakdown: This box is $39.00. I received 300 pieces of candy which equals out to $0.13 a piece.

We loved this Halloween box so much I subscribed to Universal Yums. Each candy from around the world is so unique its impossible to determine which is my favorite. There is so much abundance in this box we will be enjoying the candy for months to come. And the packaging is so much fun.

You know, for $29, I don’t think I could have bought anything else that would’ve brought my family as much joy as this did.

Thanks for posting this, Linda! I could no longer resist! Now, the Big Question – How much sharing will there be?

Reply ButtonReply

Linda

Oh good! I’m glad someone saw this! I don’t see much sharing going on here.

Chris

We were so excited to open the box and then we just tried everything as fast as we could! So great!!! I think we actually like them all!
We are hoping there’s a Christmas box coming too!!!

Bought it to have at my desk at work for the month of October. Thank you for the great and tempting review Becca!

I ordered my box as soon as I read your review!! It will be my Halloween treat to myself, as children aren’t allowed to go door to door here, and hubby doesn’t like sweets.

I love sweets, miss giving out the treats, so this will be my special sugar coma this year. 😉

Isn’t it though? They really thought of everything with this box!

This looks fabulous but I can’t really justify spending $39 on candy… That I would definitely not share… 🙂 But boy do I want too lol

Becca

It’s sooo hard to share- especially those truffles… they are THAT good!! Thanks for commenting Anne!!!

Hi Becca! If you don’t mind me asking about how long did it take for you to receive the box after you ordered? It all looks fabulous but it’s been so hot and dry here in Kentucky I’m afraid it won’t look or be so great when it gets here.

Reply ButtonReply

Becca

Hi HeatherG! Thanks for commenting! It took about 8 days to ship to Minnesota, if that helps any.

Reply ButtonReply

HeatherG

It does Becca, thank you! Hopefully it’ll still be available towards the end of the week when it is suppose to cool down some.
Awesome review btw, I’m looking forward to seeing/reading more from you! Have a great day

Thanks for commenting SquirrelyGirl! This was a SUPER fun box! I actually work at a K-12 school and tricked a couple of co-workers with the grape one too 🤣

Dani G.

Thanks so much for this review! I read the Greece review and was so disappointed they had no more left. While on their site I saw a picture of this box but it looked like a big box of hard candies so I didn’t even consider ordering it. I’m so excited to find out what’s really in it! I’m definitely going to order one. And not for passing out to kids. We don’t actually get trick-or-treaters where I live, but if we did the only kind I’d give away would be the sour ones. I LOVE just about anything grape flavored but I can’t handle super sour candy. I’ll probably send it to my younger sister who loved Sour Patch Kids above all other candy when she was a kid. I think she’ll enjoy them even more because they’re from another country.

Becca

Thanks so much for commenting Dani G! What a bummer that they are sold out of the Greece box! But I highly recommend this one! I have to admit, after I had my fill of candy, I stashed a few of my favorites and brought the rest to the school I work at so I wouldn’t eat the entire box myself! No way will it last until Halloween! Everyone was super excited to try the candies- and I managed to trick a couple into finding the surprise in the purple ones! 😂
