Trunk Club For Women June 2018 Review

My month’s trunk arrived to me in its Trunk Club trademark cardboard shipping box fashioned to resemble a suitcase. I am rather fond of the personalized details in their packaging, especially the note from my stylist and itemized invoice.

They include a pamphlet that provides product information, how to get the most from your trunk, and free shipping label and tape strips.

Here is a close up of the list of items I received and their costs.

Floral Lace & Cage Top by Addition Elle Love and Legend, Size 2x — Retail Value $52

This top is ultra-cutesy with the lace detail and floral print. The cage design adds a bit more sass to an otherwise demure top. The cotton/spandex fabric is incredibly stretchy, yet soft. This would pair well with denim shorts and embellished high heel sandals. The top itself is adorable, but I feel for the price I could find a similar one at another retailer for less. I opted to style this along with the hot pink pants Stefania selected for me with my red and white saddle shoes because I am a sucker for red and pink being paired together. I also styled it in this manner for a retro yet modern look.

Saige Release Hem Curvy Fit Skinny Jeans by Sanctuary in Washed Wild Cherry Size 22w

Saige Release Hem Curvy Fit Skinny Jeans by Sanctuary in Washed Wild Cherry, Size 22w — Retail Value $109

My stylist, Stefania, understands that I prefer skinny leg jeans over any other style and sent me these beauts. I generally wouldn’t opt to try hot pink pants, but I absolutely loved these! I am curious if the 20 would have fit even better since these jeans have ample stretch. I also would have preferred these to be an even higher waist. Otherwise, I was surprised by how much I liked these. I went for an adorable Betty Cooper meets Cheryl Blossom look; I am ready for a milkshake and fries at Pop’s Diner! These pants would look great with a black scoop neck tee and black flats or a black and white crop top and heels for a sassier look!

Scat Blooms Dress by MICHAEL Michael Kors Size 3x—Retail Value $98

Back a few months ago, my stylist sent me a Michael Kors dress. I adored the vintage-inspired daisy jacquard style print on that dress, so I was ecstatic to get this colorful one with a similar flower print! This retro dress has a deep navy blue background with gorgeous pink and white flowers all over it. I love the contrast in the color palette. I appreciate the detail of the clusters of daisies on the sleeves and bottom hem of the dress. The fabric has ample stretch and this piece is extremely comfortable to wear. I styled this dress with a gold purse my BFF gave me that once belonged to her great aunt, the gold shoes from my most recent Shoedazzle review, gold glitter sunglasses, and gorgeous gold jewelry from Jewelry Subscription box (review coming soon!). This dress is perfect for the office, a summer wedding, or to wear at a Vintage Fair. I didn’t keep this and man do I regret it since it is sold out on the site!

Button Front Swing Dress by Glamorous, Size 22w

Button Front Swing Dress by Glamorous, Size 22w — Retail Value $65

Mustard yellow is one of my favorite colors, so I was pleased to see this dress included in my Trunk Club box this month. The dress has a precious floral print that can easily be worn in summer or fall. Sad to say, this dress is a bit too big and boxy on my figure. It had no shape and just hung on me. The fabric has no stretch and is meant to be roomier, but it just didn’t enhance or compliment my figure. I paired this dress with black platform pumps and a denim jacket to bring an extra pop and contrast against the mustard yellow.

Dot Print Wide Leg Pants by Evans, Size 22w — Retail Value $69

I usually avoid wide-legged pants, but goodness, how can I resist these? These Evans brand pants are insanely comfortable; it is like wearing PJ bottoms out in public! The pants have minimal stretch in the material, but also have an adjustable drawstring at the waist. These would look fantastic at the office with a dress shirt or scoop neck t-shirt and heels, but I wanted to show a relaxed way to style these pants that still has flair. I added some color and sass by pairing them with my girl, Shannon Shaw’s, new album’s t-shirt (if you haven’t listened to it, OMG it will be your summer soundtrack. Give it a spin!). I love the primary colors featured in the shirt and the retro style, so I paired it with my red Doc platforms, gold glitter sunglasses, and a gold chain tassel necklace from Jewelry Subscription box (review coming soon!) to add a further touch of glamour to an otherwise casual ensemble.

Side Slit Fray Hem Denim Shorts by NYDJ Size 24w

Side Slit Fray Hem Denim Shorts by NYDJ, Size 24w — Retail Value $79

I have been encouraging all my stylists to send me shorts because I have been trying to seek out the perfect pair for myself, but also because I want to show you guys different fits and styles too. These jean shorts may be my favorite that Stefania has selected for me so far. The rinse isn’t as dark as I prefer, but still a rich shade of blue. These fit wonderfully, but I am curious if the 22w may have fit even better. The jeans have ample stretch and a cute and flirty slit detail on the sides. I opted to have a primary color themed ensemble with this outfit as well. I paired the shirts with a vintage yellow and blue striped shirt, my favorite Red Doc Martin Platforms, and red heart-shaped Lolita sunglasses. These shorts will be a mainstay for the summer, for sure!

Tie Waist Shirtdress by Rebel Wilson X Angels, Size 2x — Retail Value $98

This dress is so fetching (not to be confused with so fetch)! I absolutely love the vintage-inspired style of this piece. This dress has some stretch and is incredibly comfortable to wear. This will be a summer go to that can certainly translate to cooler fall weather months as well. I wasn’t sure initially if the dress was meant to be tied at the front, so I decided to show how it looks both ways. I prefer the front, as it is intended because it is such a unique focal point and adds definition at the waist. Wear this dress with your favorite summer espadrilles, big black cat eye glasses, and a straw purse for a Sunday Funday outfit!

Bubble Sleeve Blouse by Vince Camuto in Island Lime, Size 2x — Retail Value $89

Often I am turned off by puffy sleeves, but this top is truly an exception. I love vivid colors and I appreciate that the Vince Camuto line features this vibrant shade. The color reminds me of another Vince Camuto piece I received in July 2017’s Trunk Club. It is full circle to have this electric lemon-lime color back in one of my boxes nearly a year later! The fabric of this shirt doesn’t have a lot of stretch and is a tad see-through, but overall I liked the fit and style. If this color is too much for you, the same style shirt is available on the Nordstrom site in a variety of colors and prints. I loved this top paired with the Lost Ink skirt. I feel like I should be at a luau or sipping a drink in a cabana. Just call me your Pineapple Princess!

Tropical Side Tab Pencil Skirt by Lost Ink, Size 4x — Retail Value $54

This skirt is the epitome of tropical! The print and the colors are such brilliant and bright neons. The skirt is a wee bit too big on me in terms of length and size. The Nordstrom site, sadly, is sold out of most of the plus range. I am not surprised, though, since this skirt is absolutely gorgeous. I paired the skirt with the Vince Camuto top Stefania selected for me and lilac jellies that both perfectly bring out colors in the skirt. This could be worn any time to achieve that vacation state of mind. I suggest also blaring some Bossa Nova to further enhance the vacay mood while wearing this skirt.

Verdict: My stylist, Stefania, truly excelled in picking out incredibly thoughtful pieces for me this month. I feel as though she took into account my personality and style when she made these selections and I appreciate that so much! I enjoyed the majority of the pieces she sent my way this month. The two that were my least favorite items were the Addition Elle top and Glamorous dress. The other pieces fit my style perfectly, especially the Michael Kors dress and the Lost Ink skirt. My favorite thing about Trunk Club is their app that allows you to directly communicate with your stylist. My stylist reaches out to me when I receive and send back my trunks for feedback. She is always receptive and incredibly helpful! Great customer service is important and I always receive that from Trunk Club!

That mustard yellow dress OMG it is lovely!! and the same goes for the striped shirtdress. Actually I would have been happy to wear any of these clothing items.

I am a redhead too, same skin tone and similar size to yours so your reviews always give me lots of ideas for clothes & stuff I should try on.

Thanks!

I always love your reviews! I think you look stunning in all the pieces! It’s too bad that you didn’t keep that Michael Kors dress because I think it looked amazing on you (although I don’t know about you, but I’d have trouble spending $98 on a dress). Also I know they aren’t from “the trunk”, but I simply adore those saddle shoes!!!

That tropical skirt though! Ifound that asos (the us site) had it on sale for $35.50. I snatched one for myself. As of this morning, they still had it available in sizes 18, 20, and 22.

Love your reviews! I loved everything you tried on, though I do agree you need to get a smaller size in the yellow dress.

Those dot pants are going into my cart. Did you keep anything? I love the dot pants, the tropical skirt, the blue dress ,and they yellow top. Everything else looked great too except for that oversized dress.
