GlobeIn Artisan Box "Fashion Forward" April 2018 Review
Each box from GlobeIn contains a pamphlet that talks more about the theme for the box and the items inside.
Just a heads up, there aren't prices listed in the booklet for the items, so I'm going off the prices given in this Globein spoilers post!
Caftan, India - Listed Value $50.00
This sheer caftan is the perfect beach coverup. It's breezy and beachy—the color reminds me of sea glass or the color of a crisp Caribbean shore. It has a loose, one-size-fits-all kind of fit. To me, it fit like a size 2X tshirt might. (I usually wear a large.)
Subscribers might also get the same caftan in this peachy pink color instead of the mint! Which one are you hoping for?
Palm Leaf Clutch, Mexico - Listed Value $20.00
I've gotten a lot of palm leaf baskets and catch-all dishes from this subscription box, but this is the first time I've seen a clutch! What a neat idea! The bag is about 9" x 6" and has a bottom pocket and a close-fitting "lid" that slips over top. It's smooth and flexible to hold and has such a unique, organic vibe. I love the dark charcoal-colored accents, too!
Pineapple Ring, Bali - Listed Value $25.00
This ring is super cute! The brass ring has a little notch in the back that you can use to adjust the size in tighter (or looser, if you'd like). The pineapple feels super summery—it'd be great to wear to a barbecue or to a night of drinks at the tiki bar. The card the ring is on has a coupon on the back for a future purchase, too!
Coconut Hand and Body Cream, 2 fl. oz., Togo - Listed Value $3.00
I've tried plenty of coconut scrubs and lotions and hair treatments in my time, but this is hands-down the best smelling coconut product I've ever experienced! This vegan, gluten-free, paraben-free, non-animal-tested lotion smells of pure, delicious coconut—it's that perfect, mildly vanilla, dreamy, creamy aroma that I imagine when I think about coconut. Even better, this nourishing lotion supports sustainable development in West Africa through programs like providing bikes, funding births, planting trees, and more!
Glee Gum, United States - Listed Value $1.00
This little pack of gum is made sans-aspartame or other artificial ingredients in the United States. I got a bubblegum flavor, though I think subscribers might get one of about 7 flavors. Gum isn't my favorite, but I can appreciate this little item as a fun extra in this box of otherwise really impressive finds!
Bonus Item: Re/Make Wear Your Values Pin
I didn't know anything about this movement, but I love it! Apparently last September, the folks from Re/Make hosted events during New York Fashion Week to draw attention to the systems and practices along the fast fashion supply chain. This organization is pro slow fashion, which prioritizes ethical working conditions, fair wages, and environmentally friendly practices in regards to making and buying fashion. This 1" wide pin is super lightweight and thinner than most enamel pins I'm familiar with, but it's striking with its black and gold palette. I can't wait to pop this on my jacket as a reminder every time I head out to shop.
The Verdict: I really loved this box! The fashion aspect was definitely there, but I think the stronger theme was a beachy, warm-weather vibe, which felt super refreshing after a (VERY) long, cold winter. Globein does a great job of providing an assortment of unique items—I got something to wear, something to taste, something for self-care—so that it has a well-roundedness that not all subscriptions have. It's definitely one of my favorite lifestyle subscriptions. The box costs $50.00 (cost + shipping for me), which means I paid about $10.00 per featured item (or $8.33 if you count the pin). That feels a little high for the gum and the ring, but I'd suspect to pay a little more for the clutch and the caftan, so it balances out just fine in my eyes. I'm also willing to pay a little more to know that what I'm getting is supporting real people around the world.

Value Breakdown: At $50.00 for this box ($40.00 + $10.00 shipping), each item has an average price of about $10.00. But I estimate that I got $99.00 worth of retail value (not counting the bonus item). Using those estimated numbers, proportionally, I paid the following for each item:
- Caftan - $25.25
- Clutch - $10.10
- Ring - $12.63
- Hand cream - $1.52
- Gum - $0.51
