Good Night! Good Night! by Carin Berger - Value $17.99
Carin Berger’s cut paper collage illustrations were so whimsical and pleasing. The sweet story with tons of repetition is perfect for the bedtime routine. Momma Bunny is trying to get her little ones to bed, but they keep asking more and more before they’ll drift off to sleep. From bedtime stories and kisses to dances and tickles these little bunnies know how to drag their fuzzy feet! This book was sweet without being saccharine.
I Do Not Like Al’s Hat by Erin McGill - Value $14.76 on Amazon (retail price $17.99)
This is definitely a new storyline for me. A bunny named Herb who is tired of being pulled out of a magician’s hat decides to find a new line of work. What are the options for a bunny? He comes up with: wild rabbit, farmer and pet rabbit. With pros and cons lists and amusing illustrations he finally finds the perfect place. My kids found this story funny and I especially enjoyed the bright home-style illustrations.
Verdict: We enjoyed both selections this month. The retail value this month is over $32 which I’m very happy with. The February themed wrapping paper was adorable this month too. Though Lil' Bear Book Club says the subscription comes with 2-4 books each month I’ve only received more than two books once last spring. Getting a third (or even fourth) book would be nice once on occasion and would definitely increase the value.
