Wantable Style Edit has been a major player in the subscription styling service market for over a year now, and they just started offering plus sizes at the end of July. I was thrilled to get the chance to try them out! Wantable Style Edit is one of several different subscription boxes offered by Wantable, including Wantable Intimates, Accessories, Fitness, and Makeup.

When I signed up for this service, I took a pretty lengthy quiz in which I indicated my price, size, and style preferences. Wantable uses a great model of indicating what you love, what you like and what you dislike, for all their subscriptions! They send you more of what you love, and never what you dislike. I can go back and change my preferences at any time. Oddly, this is a listing of the preferences for my accessories subscription! This must be a misprint of some kind.

Below my preferences is a note from my stylist, Kate. It explains why she chose the items she picked for me.

This is the invoice of the items they sent me this month. On the right, it shows my cost to keep each item. The total comes to $579. If I keep everything, I get 20% off, plus I get my $20 styling fee deducted. That brings the total down to $443.20 for a discount of $115.80. That's a deep discount!

Side Split Cowl Neck by Wantable(!) - Cost to Keep $68

Wantable has started their own label! I don't wear cowl necks too often, but I kind of like this one. It could be worn with leggings, and the neutral color means I can wear it in a variety of color schemes.

Center Seam Ponte Leggings by Lysse - Cost to Keep $84

I think I have mentioned my love of Lysse in previous posts, but it bears repeating. Yes, these are just plain black leggings, but Lysse makes the most supportive pants you could ever want to own. The price tag is high, but I think it's worth it.

V-neck Long Sleeve Top by Wantable - Cost to Keep $59

I think this top is a little too thin/slinky for comfort. I really like the neckline and the color, though.

Moto Curvy Baroque Skinny Jeans by James Jeans - Cost to Keep $198

I have some jeans from James Jeans that are amazing, but I don't like these as much. I think my legs are too short and chunky to pull off the "moto" look. At this price point, I would have to completely love the jeans to keep them.

Marble Blouse by Melissa McCarthy for Seven7 - Cost to Keep $89

I really like the split neck on this blouse! I think it's a flattering style on me. I also like the print and the cut. I am also really liking the way it looks with my cool new earrings from this month's Peaches and Petals!

Mock Wrap Stripe Dress - Cost to Keep $42

I think this was a really strange choice for Wantable to send in December. Short sleeves and thin material are a little too, well, little, even for us folks in the warmer climes of the country. Yes, I was freezing in this picture! Having said that, I love pretty much everything about this dress. It is flattering, it drapes/falls well, and I love the black and olive stripes. Plus it's a totally faux wrap, so no worries about exposure. Is it too early to pick up a little something for summer? Could I get away with pairing it with a furry cardigan and some leggings? Can I bring back the 90's with this dress?

Floral Blouse by Umgee - Cost to Keep $39

I received a very similar item in last month's Wantable Style Edit. It was exactly the same cut, same neckline, etc., but it was a dress with a different pattern. I didn't like it because I felt like it was just too much material, too much print. I kind of love it in blouse form, and I think I prefer this print. I can see myself getting a lot of wear out of this blouse!

Verdict: I am really loving my Wantable Style Edit so far! This is the first month I received seven items, and I honestly don't know why they don't send seven every month. It's a lot more fun! Not everything was a win this month, but I did find several things I really liked and will probably keep. I think Wantable does a great job of sending me things that are just my style. At the same time, they do manage to push me a little outside my comfort zone. It's so fun to try new things!

What do you think of Wantable Style Edit? What did you receive in your box this month?

If it were me, I’d return the moto skinny jeans (overpriced), and maybe return the v-neck wine-colored long top (nice color, just not sure how versatile that cut is) and the cowl neck charcoal sweater (it’s just OK). Then I’d keep the leggings (even though that price tag is astounding), the marble blouse, the dress (you can wear a long-sleeved shrug over it during winter, or a pashmina), and the floral blouse (it looks good in the pics – so unless the fabric is too much material from a comfort standpoint, I’d keep it).

I think they should not have sent the V-neck Long sleeve shirt & moto curvy jeans. If they weren’t in the pkg you could have kept everything with the 20% discount. But returning those two pieces is $250 off the original price!
I love the first outfit on you best and could see you getting many days of wear. I count clothing value by price/#of wearings. I have some $200 shoes I wear at least once a week every week – and I’ve owned them for 3 years. I just had some repair work for $25 and expect to wear them for another 3 years. A better price than some for $20 that I found uncomfortable and rarely wear or wear only for special events.

Anna

That’s really sensible marilyn. Thank you for encouraging me to keep the leggings! Such good points!

That stripe dress with a cardi and high boots…YES! Maybe the floral blouse, since it’s only $39 and looks nice on you. I didn’t think anything else was “wow” enough to pay that price for, especially since you get so many things to try each month.

Anna

Thanks for the vote of confidence, Bonnie! Any suggestions on where to get wide calf boots? I like to hear what other people recommend. My legs are like tree trunks! 😀

Love Melissa McCarthy and her clothes but $89. for a blouse is unreal. Now I am a cheapo but still. I could find 7 blouses at TJ Maxx for that price that would be just as nice.

Anna

I know what you mean, Michelle. I feel that way sometimes, too.

You have to keep the marble blouse – it looks terrific on you!! Seriously. The rest are nice but that blouse is so flattering on you!

Lola EB

I second that.

Katy

Third. And the dress. Especially at a $42 price point. That’s practically a steal compared to the typical price points in this sub. And it looks fabulous on you!

Beth

Love, love, love the marble top, cowl top, maroon top and wrap dress on you!!! The flower one looks too grandmotherly to me.

Anna

Thanks Beth! Wow, the maroon top too? Cool!

Loba

I really like the faux wrap dress and the floral and marble blouses on you. Super pretty!

I like the leggings too but you already have some Lysse pants and they’re $84 so for that reason I wouldn’t get them. Torrid makes a nice legging as well. I like their “premium” (I think that’s what they call ’em) leggings. Not sheer, won’t roll down even if you have a tummy – just a nice quality legging. They’re more expensive then a “cheap” legging but they aren’t $84 and Torrid always has some sort of coupon/sale going on.

Anna

Oooo I will have to check those out. Thanks for the tip Loba! And the nice compliment!

I only have to take a picture of myself modeling ONE garment each month and I can’t bear to do it outside right now — too cold! And here you are just across town, in all sorts of different outfits.

That being said, I am wearing lots of knee-length sleeveless dresses right now. I have some fleece-lined tights and a variety of shrugs and cardigans and a good coat. So if you like the wrap dress, keep it. $42 is not a bad price!

Reply ButtonReply

Anna

Lol, I know! I take the pics right outside my house so it’s only a minute or two in the cold. I think I will keep the dress, it’s just so cute. Thanks Ragan!

Jill

Do they do size exchanges? That floral Umgee top looks too big on you (and Umgee usually runs big), and the pintucked blouse seems too big as well. I think they’d be more flattering in the next size down.

And Wantable sent me several very summery items in my Style Edit earlier this month–like not even ones that I could style for winter, like the wrap you got. I definitely gave them negative feedback on that!

Reply ButtonReply

Anna

Yes Jill, I believe they do size exchanges, and that’s a good idea / point. I’m sorry to hear you got summery items! Do you live somewhere that’s usually warm? I have this idea that stylists should look at addresses, but I don’t always think they do.

I love the cowl neck top on you and yes, you should snag that faux wrap dress. I love the colors on you, and you can absolutely do leggings and boot(ie)s, plus a cardigan or black denim jacket or something! I love layers in Winter because if I go anywhere I’m going from outside to the car to inside to a house or store, so I still wear shorts sleeves with sweaters and stuff. 🙂

Anna

Thanks Haley! I think I will!

Chelsea

Maybe it’s just me… but over $400 doesn’t really seem like a deep discount. I cringe when my Stitchfix is over $150, let alone $400. Seems a little pricey to me.

That being said, you look fantastic in that floral blouse! It’s fab on you!

Reply ButtonReply

Anna

Thank you Chelsea! I feel you. I can’t always keep everything I’d like, but I think Wantable at least sends a pretty good range of items of different prices.

Reply ButtonReply

Amber

I agree….Some of the prices for these clothes are just outrageous. Who would pay $200 for a pair of leggings?
