BLUUM BOX FEB 2016 - BOX

Bluum
3.1 overall rating
24 Ratings | 12 Reviews

Bluum is a monthly subscription box for babies and toddlers. Their boxes are very customized – specific to the month of your child’s age. Also, they recently began allowing you to “build your own Bluum,” meaning you can even pick what products you’ll receive out of a very wide selection of items (one of my very favorite parts of this subscription!). However, subscribers can still skip choosing their items in order to still be surprised each month.

BLUUM BOX FEB 2016 - packaging 1

The box I’m reviewing is customized from my preferences and choices for my son, who was born this past September! Because of this, my box may look completely different than someone else’s box.

BLUUM BOX FEB 2016 - items 1

VeraClean Natural Antibacterial Cleaner, Quality Thyme – 16 fl oz, value: $12

I’ve loved all the natural cleaning products Bluum has sent me so far, so I’m really excited for this one. I also really like that it’s specifically antibacterial!

Puracy Natural Hand Soap – 12 fl oz, value: $6.99

Maybe it’s just me, but I love getting hand soap in subscription boxes. It’ll always be something I need, and the ones that are in subscription boxes are always nicer and more expensive than what I’d spend on hand soap myself.

BLUUM BOX FEB 2016 - items 2

SmileBaby Corporation MoMin Greenicare Organic Baby Oil – 4 oz, value: $16.99

This baby oil is supposed to warm up as you massage it into your baby’s skin. My so has drier skin so I’m excited to try this oil instead of just a lotion to help him.

Rockin Green Auto Dish Dishwasher Detergent – 1 lb,value: $12.95

Yet another item I know I’m going to use. I’ll always need dish detergent and this kind is better for us and the environment.

Verdict: I’m happy with this month’s Bluum. I actually didn’t pick my items this time. I meant to, but when I was browsing the available items I didn’t see many that really excited me so I was going to wait until later and hope they add new inventory and forgot to go back. These 4 things are all from the stuff they had listed when I looked, but that’s okay because they’re all very practical and useful products I’m ultimately glad to have, even if this box is much more stuff for me than my baby. My value this month comes out to $48.93. I’m happy with that, particularly because I like and will use everything.

Ugh and never again. I ordered Bluum based on the review here and have been sorely disappointed. I tried it when I learned my go to Citrus Lane was going out of business. I was forced to purchase two gift subscriptions because they do not have one tailored to twin babies, a bit of an oversight. One of the packages arrived completely damaged and marked as such by the postal service. It was soaked through by an improperly packed liquid cleaner. Upon contacting customer service, they are dragging their heels and pretty apathetic. Embarrassed to have given it as a gift.

This happened to me this month, my box was dripping wet and did not include anything I picked. I miss Citrus Lane so much. I felt misled with reviews here too.

I went to pick my items today and it’s very slim pickings for a newborn. I pick one item and then more reload; but they’re all for toddlers… Wth. I’m 6 months pregnant, I’ll need stuff for newborn age; not 2-3 years down the road. The toys, the first page is awesome, then you load a 2nd page and again it’s all stuff for older kids. Plus I don’t like how you can’t move the little box around to fully customize your selections.

I got my March box today and it’s missing one of the items I picked, pretty ticked off about it. It was a high value swaddle blanket, so in it’s place they put in a $3 disposable wipe. The blanket was valued at $18; and the wipes, $3………..

I cancelled mine this month. Each month there were less and less options. When I inquired, I was told the best days for selecting items are the 11th-14th of each month. I thought I had to wait till my box arrived on the 17th. My options for my 4 year old were mostly sticker books, art supplies and a few things we already have like a flashlight or match game. Each month I was getting stressed out trying to find 4 items. I decided, I would take my $30 and find her a toy or game she would really appreciate.

I got a bluum box finally, because they sent me an email and the first month was like 50% off. I picked my items, I got a package of diapers, a grasping toy, boardbook and a little ‘lovey’. For like $15 it was pretty great considering the natural diapers alone were $12.50.

I’m sorry but that box looks ridiculous for a baby sub. The curation of Bluum has always been questionable for me and this just confirms it.

Well, Bluum is a baby AND mom box, so they have products for moms and babies. And plus you can choose your own products and “curate” your own items that you receive. I skipped picking my own items this month, so they curated my box off of my own personal preferences, which I have set to include mom/household items. Bluum is actually really flexible about your preferences and their “build your own” options. You can pick all baby items if you want! Just something to think about! =]

It would be cool to see what they send for a box geared entirely toward baby. Maybe you could review a second box to compare? 🙂
