Oprah Circle of Friends Subscription Item Review Package

The Oprah Magazine Circle of Friends Premier subscription comes with perks including a luxury beauty box, a surprise gift, and the opportunity to try and keep products, so I had to sign up!

Here’s a breakdown of the subscription perk options:

Circle of Friends Membership

The first perk I’ve received was the Luxury Beauty Box, the second was the O-list surprise item, and the third was my first of two test and keep items.

My Subscription Addiction pays for this subscription. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes).

From what I can tell this is a bonus item for subscribers - not my second test and keep item:

Oprah Circle of Friends Subscription Item Review Book

O's Little Book of Happiness - Retail Value $17.99 (On Amazon for $12.78)

Book summary from Amazon:

With a sprightly dose of insightful inspiration, a sprinkling of practical advice, and a bounty of exuberant stories by great writers, O's Little Book of Happiness features some of the best work ever to have appeared in O, The Oprah Magazine. Inside you'll find Elizabeth Gilbert's ode to the triumph of asking for what you want, Jane Smiley's tribute to the animal who taught her about lasting fulfillment, Roxane Gay's sure-fire cure for complaining, Brené Brown's celebration of the powers of play, Neil deGrasse Tyson's take on the joyful participation in the universe, and much more. Revisiting fifteen years of the magazine's rich archives, O's editors have assembled a collection as stunning as it is spirit-lifting.

Verdict: I'm not sure it is a good thing when I like the bonus item more than most of the other packages from this subscription, but I do appreciate the bonus gift. It looks like a quick and inspiring read, and a perfect little gift for Mother's Day too.

I'm still waiting on one test and keep item from this subscription, but at this point I still can't recommend signing up - the value isn't there yet, and I've been disappointed in some of the products sent to me compared to the advertised examples. (Check out my other Circle of Friends reviews to see what I mean).

What do you think of the surprise bonus item?

I really wanted to sign up for this box but I am sooooo glad I didn’t. I expected way more from an Oprah box!

You know, it occurs to me that what this subscription did is a “bait and switch” by displaying pictures of potential luxury items but then sending drugstore crap. That’s against the law. The fact that they won’t fully refund your money when you cancel because they did not deliver what they offer is also against the law.

Bet in that small print they say you may not get what is in the picture, products will vary….even if, this subscription is a joke.

Is one of her pieces of happiness that everyone just gives her their money?

I am glad I did not sign up. Bonus item is okay. Only one coming out ahead is Oprah. This is her book so she still benefits from “sales”. From what I have seen this is truly a disappointing subscription.

I’m glad that I passed on this. The book is cute.

It blows me away how absolutely bad this subscription has been! I’m not a huge Oprah fan, but she does usually have pretty decent taste. At this point I think she needs to start saying “YOU! get a refund! Everyone gets a refund!” Thankfully I never subscribed.

This literally made me LOL! I got a great mental pic of the scenario: “I scammed YOU, and YOU, and YOU….and now to avoid a class action suit or a federal consumer fraud investigation, YOU get a refund, and YOU get a refund!”

And YOU get a bonus book in hopes it will make you forget how terrible the rest of the box has been!
