What's Inside The Box

The theme of this month's box was Malt of the Earth and included 3 servings of each of the following beers:
- Great Raft Brewing - 318 Golden Ale
- Peak Organic Brewing Company - Happy Hour
- Great Raft Brewing - Southern Drawl
- Peak Organic Brewing Company - Peak IPA
Let's take a closer look at each one!
Great Raft Brewing - 318 Golden Ale
My husband and I agreed: This was our favorite beer this month by far!
This delicious American Golden Ale boasted hints of orange peel and honey throughout. It was light and refreshing, with relatively no bitterness.
Sitting at 4% ABV and 20 IBUs, this was the perfect choice for those who don't like hoppy or full-bodied beers. And even those who prefer stronger beers could enjoy this drink as a starter for a night full of festivities.
Peak Organic Brewing Company - Happy Hour
Up next was a refreshing organic American Pilsner, and our second favorite beer for the month. We savored its citrus zest and floral overtones, and were surprised by subtle spices along the way.
Similar to the first beer, it was quite light with a 4.7% ABV and 15 IBUs. However, we enjoyed the hints of sweetness from the prior beer compared to this one.
Still, this made for a crispy and clean beverage that would be picture-perfect for a day spent backyard grilling.
Great Raft Brewing - Southern Drawl
Compared to the prior Pilsner, this one packed a bit more of a punch in terms of bitterness. However, I love trying new beers, and this one certainly did not disappoint.
This Dry-hopped American Pilsner was certainly earthy, but had this fruity gold body to add some balance between the flavors. It was 5% ABV and 30 IBUs, making it moderately bitter but not overbearing.
Peak Organic Brewing Company - Peak IPA
Last, but not least, was a bold and beautiful American IPA. It was dry and hazy, but had tropical-like vibes with hints of grapefruit and orange.
Sitting at 7.1% ABV and 62 IBUs, this beer was definitely not for the faint of heart. But perhaps a greater starter IPA for the brave?
The Verdict
It's funny, I'm normally a huge fan of IPAs and full-bodied beers. This month, however, I was swept off my feet by the gentle 318 Golden Ale.
Its sweet and subtle hints of orange and honey were beyond welcome after another hot day in sunny central Florida. And while I know I should be drinking down water and electrolytes, I couldn't help but go for the gold first.
My husband and I have added this to the top of our date night selects, planning to pair it with brats on the grill next time.
