First Impressions

This month included an activity sheet and a welcome sheet introducing the contents of the box. The activity for this month  is "Role Play Time." Little Feminist includes a few scenarios that you can act out or role-play with your bub.

What's Inside This Box

Yo! Yes! by Chris Raschka – Retail Value $7.99

Two boys meet, and after an exchange of a few simple words, they become fast friends. Each page portrays each boy's emotions and reactions to each other, and although they display quite a few differences, in the end, they are both happy to spend time together. This book was written in 1993, and it has won the Caldecott Honor Award. It is a short read, but we enjoyed the pictures of the boys and shouting the text back and forth to each other.

We Are Little Feminists: Hair by Brook Sitgraves Turner – Retail Value $9.99

We love getting We Are Little Feminists books because there are always so many smiles to look at on each page, and it is contagious. This one is all about hair: the different places it may grow and its textures. As always, the photos are lovely, displaying different individuals and families from many diverse backgrounds.

Discussion Questions

Little Feminist Book Club includes discussion questions for each book every month. You receive two cards that follow the book's themes and provide questions to discuss with your little reader about their reading experience and other topics to consider. This month's topics are communicate and notice. Each card asks questions to help continue our discussions about each book. These questions are age-appropriate and help to get your kids engaged.

The Verdict

Little Feminist Book Club always provides us with books with diversity and culture. We especially loved We Are Little Feminists: Hair because of all of the fresh, happy faces in each photo.

After shipping, this subscription adds up to $26.90 a month; if you don't mind paying the price for excellent curation and content, then this subscription may be worth your investment. The subscription holds a value that doesn't always monetarily meet its cost, but I appreciate the service.

I’m a self-proclaimed “cool mom” who loves a little, who am I kidding, a lot of razzle-dazzle. I have been box-obsessed for over 10 years, and I am always on the hunt for new beauty, fun flair and trendy clothing boxes. A fun night for me includes an exfoliating foot mask and a bag of Dot's Pretzels while binging Rupaul’s Drag Race.
