IPSY is a monthly beauty and makeup subscription box. For $13 per month, you get five full-size or deluxe-sized products, plus a cute makeup bag.

This is one of our top recommendations if you are looking for a subscription box - the value and sample sizes are amazing. (FYI – Ipsy sends out many different variations of their bag each month – so my review is just one of the bag variations you might receive!)

My Subscription Addiction pays for this subscription. (Check out our editorial guidelines to learn more about how we review boxes).

First Impressions

Your IPSY Glam bag will come in the brand's standard pale pink bubble wrap mailer. When you open it up, you can always expect to find a makeup bag storing your new beauty products and an info sheet with additional details.

This month's bag was a fun green and pale pink checkered pattern and the zipper has a green tassle.

The Breakdown – What’s Inside My August 2023 Ipsy Glam Bag

Dew of the Gods Hyablend™ Daily Glow Oil, 10 mL - Estimated Value $10 (buy the 30 mL version for $30)

Dew of the Gods is such a fun brand- I enjoy each time I get to try out a new product from them. This midweight facial oil is made with hyaluronic acid, niacinamide, and rosewater, and like most face oils you only need a few drops for your entire face. I thought this did a nice job combatting some of the redness in my cheeks, and it didn’t feel greasy on my skin.

Korres Santorini Grape Poreless Skin Cream, 20 mL - Estimated Value $19.50 (buy the 40 mL version for $39)

I wouldn’t say I have issues with pores, but I really like the Korres brand as a whole so I was happy to see this appear in my glam bag. This lightweight moisturizer is perfect for the insane summer heat we’ve been having lately. Along with Santorini grapes, this is formulated with hyaluronic acid, salicylic acid, and willow herb extract, and it absorbs quickly into my skin. This sample is a generous size, too, coming in at half the size of its full-sized counterpart.

Onekind Radical Repair™ Ultra Brightening Eye Balm, 4 mL - Estimated Value $12 (buy the 15 mL version for $45)

Ever since I started my new job that allows me to work from home, I’ve actually become a lot more lax with my skincare routine (I honestly was expecting the opposite). As a result, sometimes I’ll forget to apply eye cream for a few days and then realize that delicate skin is very parched and needs some love.

This eye balm is a great product for coming to the rescue- it’s made with plant peptide, cactus stem extract, turmeric, and Shea butter that makes for a nourishing formula on the thicker end of eye creams. A little bit goes a long way, and I appreciate that it doesn’t irritate my eyes.

Benefit Cosmetics Fan Fest Mascara in Black, 0.10 oz - Estimated Value $10.71 (buy the 0.14 oz version for $15)

This is a brand-new mascara from Benefit, and I’m always happy to see new product launches appear in my Glam Bag. I like this mascara! When I was in high school a mascara I reached for a lot was the Estée Lauder Sumptuous Extreme mascara, and this reminded me of that in how it looked on my lashes. It did a really great job of coating the bottom and top lashes individually and while it doesn’t give a crazy ton of volume, I love the length and separation.

Here I am wearing it. I had to go get an oil change that day, and I went through one of those drive-through places where you stay in your vehicle and turn it off while they do their thing. It was gross but I was absolutely dripping in sweat (the heat index was over 100 with humidity!), and I was impressed with how my mascara held up.

I took this photo mid-oil change and while I don’t love that I am publishing this on the internet, I think it’s worth it to point out how great of a job this mascara did- I only had a tiny bit of smudging on my bottom lashes!

Ciaté London Wonderwand Lipstick in Sunday, 0.8 g - Estimated Value $7.20 (buy the 2g version for $18)

This lipstick was my choice item this month. I’ve never tried a Ciate lipstick before, so I think that’s why this is the one I chose. The shade Sunday is a deep rose shade that is perhaps a little dark for these summer days, but it was quite pretty. I found the formula to be comfortable and non-drying, which is crucial because I have a lot of issues with dry lips that I am always trying to stay on top of.

Here it is swatched.

Value – Was This Box Worth It?

The Cost: $13

Value Breakdown:

  • Dew of the Gods: $10 → $2.19
  • Korres: $19.50 → $4.27
  • Onekind: $12 → $2.62
  • Benefit Cosmetics: $10.71 → $2.34
  • Ciate London: $7.20 → $1.57

Value Breakdown: This month everything in my Glam Bag added up to $59.41. Alternatively, it breaks down to paying $2.60 per item, not including the actual bag.

Key Takeaways

I thought this was a really solid Glam Bag for me. All of the products are from brands I recognize, and I was really happy to see Benefit's newest mascara launch in my bag. All of the skincare products were nice on my skin, and while I am more likely to reach for the Ciate lipstick in cooler months, I was happy to get the chance to try out the formula. At $13, this is a tough subscription to beat- especially when every month you get to choose one of the items they send.
