The story is about a girl named Sam, who has cerebral palsy. She is happy, confident, and imaginative. Every morning, she and her dad say four affirmations in the mirror. She calls her favorite places to sit "Super Seats." She gives them names and even talks, plays games, and tells jokes with them. Her mom takes Sam and her friends to the mall to go shopping. They have a blast, but have to rest when Sam gets winded. It's not a Super Seat, but it'll do and everyone enjoys the rest. At home, the fun continues as the girls dress up and they build up each other's confidence.
This book was nice because it gave my daughter and me a chance to revisit a moment she recently had at a playground where a child with a disability was playing. Instead of being inquisitive and inclusive, she treated him differently and I could tell that bummed his parents out. It took the parents to bring them together and everything ended well, but to tell the truth, I wish she had treated him like everyone else right out of the gate. It was nice to have a reminder to talk about this sort of thing with my child. I hope it's another step in making her a good person.

Each book comes with a 'What Do You Think' card that provides questions that you can ask your little reader about the book. They are nice in the way they help you ask direct questions– something that might actually get a real answer rather than "It was good" or "I liked it."
Little Feminist In Action
This month's activity asks your little one to think of affirmations just like Sam. Her's were she can run fast, swim well, draw well, and can pretend to be a cat/dog perfectly.
The Verdict
I was pleasantly surprised by this installment of Little Feminist Book Club. I do think this book went a long way in helping my child see that differently abled kids are perfectly happy, willing, and able. Like I said, we had a small issue with that and this book made it possible to revisit that conversation, which I appreciate. That is something you can expect with this subscription. The issues are important and told in a way that interests your child. If you value that, check out Little Feminist Book Club.
Value - Was This Box Worth It?
Subscribers – current or future – will have to be understanding of the fact that Little Feminist Book Club is not a subscription that saves you money. The cost of the sub will always be a little more than the book itself. This subscription's true value is the quality of the books and the complementary paperwork, which is carefully chosen and sent to your front door. If you are focused on dollar amounts, this subscription may not be for you. The monthly subscription costs $26 (with shipping). This book retails for about $18. That is a $8 difference in value. That's pretty good for these sub.
One thing to note: Little Feminist offers four ways to purchase: monthly, three months, six months, and 12 months. They cost $22.95, $21.95, $19.95, and $18.95, respectively. Shipping is always $2.95. So if you were certain you'd like this subscription for a year, it would be $4 cheaper per month and much closer to the book's retail value.
