First Impressions

This month included an activity sheet and a welcome sheet introducing this month's contents. This month's activity is "Spreading Love and Light." This month's info sheet recommends acts of kindness for this month's activities and lists quite a few.

What's Inside This Box

Sonrisas for Baby by Jen Arena– Retail Value $7.99

This book is full of smiles. Everything baby sees smiles back at him including houses, springtime, frogs and fish. This book has simple Spanish words throughout and colorful illustrations that my babies loved.

Diwali Lights by Rina Singh  – Retail Value $9.95

Diwali is an Indian celebration in October or November. This book describes how one might celebrate Diwali, the festival of lights, with treats, fireworks, candles, henna tattoos and small gifts. This book is so colorful, each page with a picture of a child celebrating.

Discussion Questions

Little Feminist Book Club included discussion cards for each book. The messages this week are about celebrations and kindness. Sharing your beautiful smile with the world is a simple act of kindness. The other discussion card brings up different celebrations and traditions we might share as a family.

Verdict

Little Feminist Book Club had interesting picks. I was hoping this month would include a book with a Halloween theme, but I enjoyed each book. I can't resist A Little Book of Smiles for its adorable illustrations while Diwali Lights was a colorful read that helped us learn a little more about a different culture. The value of this month's picks comes to $17.94, not quite hitting the mark of the cost of this subscription.

After shipping, this subscription adds up to $25.90 a month; if you're someone who doesn't mind paying a price for excellent curation and content, then this subscription may be worth it to you. The subscription holds a value that doesn't always monetarily meet its cost, but I appreciate the service.

I’m a self-proclaimed “cool mom” who loves a little, who am I kidding, a lot of razzle-dazzle. I have been box-obsessed for over 10 years, and I am always on the hunt for new beauty, fun flair and trendy clothing boxes. A fun night for me includes an exfoliating foot mask and a bag of Dot's Pretzels while binging Rupaul’s Drag Race.
