First Impressions

This month included an activity sheet and a welcome sheet introducing this month's contents. This month's activity is "Eat the Rainbow." It comes with a little chart to write down different foods for every color of the rainbow.

What's Inside This Box

Pops by Gavin Bishop – Retail Value $6.59

This book has a very simple storyline: it follows the day of a young tot and their pops. They prepare food and eat together and spend time telling stories, too. The theme for this month's delivery is food, which, to family, is more dynamic than just the food itself. Everything from food planning to prep to eating with loved ones brings a family together; it is the root of so many family traditions. This book doesn't have a lot of words, but the illustrations tell a bigger story of the connection between a grandfather and his grandkid.

How We Eat by Shuli de la Fuente-Lau  – Retail Value $9.99

There are so many things that the We are Little Feminists book series does right. They open your eyes to how dynamic an everyday activity, like eating, really is in a family setting, and they are inclusive to all. The real life families and situations pictured in the book are so relatable, too! I see my family in a lot of them, and that is so important for the children reading to see as well. It all boils down to the idea that "being fed is love" regardless of whatever means you use.

Discussion Questions

Little Feminist Book Club included discussion cards for each book. The messages this week are about table manners and routines.

Verdict

Little Feminist Book Club had cute picks for this month. I was really impressed with the new We are Little Feminists: How We Eat book; I love the pictures and feel that it appeals to everyone with its inclusivity and, well, everyone eats so we can all relate. I enjoyed the Pops book, but it is such a quick read with so few words that I felt like we flew through it every time we read it. The value of this month's picks comes to $16.58, not quite hitting the mark of the cost of this subscription.

After shipping, this subscription adds up to $25.90 a month; if you're someone who doesn't mind paying a price for excellent curation and content, then this subscription may be worth it to you. The subscription holds a value that doesn't always monetarily meet its cost, but I appreciate the service.

I’m a self-proclaimed “cool mom” who loves a little, who am I kidding, a lot of razzle-dazzle. I have been box-obsessed for over 10 years, and I am always on the hunt for new beauty, fun flair and trendy clothing boxes. A fun night for me includes an exfoliating foot mask and a bag of Dot's Pretzels while binging Rupaul’s Drag Race.
