The See New Skincare Box is a $56 bi-monthly beauty box filled with green beauty items that focus on cruelty-free, chemical-free, and sustainably sourced ingredients.

First Impressions:

The brand this month is Honua! This Hawaiian brand is one of my favorites for its formulas that strike the perfect balance between active, beautiful, and fragrant. It is the whole experience!

The Products:

This box delivered four amazing products from this wonderful brand.

Let's dive in!

Hibiscus Beauty Booster, 1 fl oz - Retail Value $54

This is the newest Honua launch which makes it feel extra special. I love when a brand spankin' new formula appears on my doorstep! This serum arrived in a white glass bottle and it is a medium consistency and the prettiest coral color. It smells both like seaweed and flowers which is weird but enjoyable. The formula is rather simple: water, hyaluronic acid, hibiscus, and astaxanthin. There is also a little preservative and alcohol for viscosity control. It feels really wonderful on the skin and is slick but quick absorbing.

Lihau Refreshing Face Mist, 4 fl oz - Retail Value $54

This is one of my favorite toners. It has some of my faves: witch hazel, aloe, and hyaluronic acid. There is also hydrating trehalose. The scent is pretty much divine: blue tansy, sandalwood, vetiver, and rosemary. Sure, the nozzle could be a little more misty and gentle, but my favorite use for this is actually adding it to powdered masks then applying it with a brush. It also makes a great layer between your serum and moisturizer to keep the skin moist and help with absorption. I also noticed redness reduction on my cheeks which makes sense because some of the ingredients are anti-inflammatory.

Malu Day Cream SPF 30, 2 oz - Retail Value $42

I already have a fave SPF that I rarely cheat on (Supergoop Glow Screen 4 EVER) but wow this cream is a close contender for my heart. It smells like wild jasmine and wears really well, with no ashiness or weird film left behind. One weird thing was that while it squirts out of the nozzle just fine when I opened the cap it looked a little dry in there. I am not sure if this is just how this stuff is or what. But I have been using it for a week now and the texture seems awesome. In addition to SPF30, it also has skin-loving hyaluronic acid, squalane, and vitamin E.

Mahealani Moonlit Glow Balm, 1.2 oz - Retail Value $82

If there is a crown jewel to this delivery, this stunning blue balm is it. Blue Tansy lovers, rejoice! This is THE balm I recommend to anyone with super dry skin or skin that is having a tough time in the winter. I like to treat it as a sleep mask myself, applying a thick layer, giving myself a mini facial massage, and then falling asleep. The scent of blue tansy just adds to the magic. If you think this stuff is heavy, you are right. Inside is a blend of shea, jojoba, macadamia, and Kuki oils. They create a thick balm that coats skin easily, meaning you need very little at a time. There are also tons of soothing and antioxidant-rich botanical extracts. Literally, I wake up glowing with this stuff nourishing me through the night. If you do find this balm a little too heavy for your face, it also doubles as an incredible moisturizer for chapped hands, knees, elbows, and cuticles.

Verdict

See New Skincare Box send me heaven in a box this month. Honua is such a great brand and all of these formulas were fantastic. All of the products work in such a gorgeous harmony with each other for a complete routine, day to night. I found this curation absolutely lovely as someone already familiar with the brand, but I can only imagine what subscribers new to this Hawaiian treasure will think once they try these formulas out for the first time. The value here is great: $232 for the cost of $56. That is a win.

I love natural/vegan beauty products, Korean skincare, unique jewelry, and weird candies from far away places. When I am not waiting for my next exciting box you can find me painting or taking photographs of interesting people. I never leave home without pug hair somewhere on my shirt and a bold lipstick on my smile.

While I was disappointed to see a repeat box, at least it was this brand. I rarely purchase items that I get in boxes, but have repurchased Honua since I discovered the brand the last time See New Skincare had offered this box (last year? I lose track).

Melissa

What do you mean, “a repeat box?”

Melissa

Thank you, Marie and Snow, for clearing that up! (huh, “Clearing that up” could be a skin care pun. Lol!) I just started with See New a few months ago and did not know about the 2020 box.

Marie

I wouldn’t say this is a repeat box entirely. The brand was featured back in Fall of 20, but the only product that was the same as back then was the balm. Hopefully, everyone has used it up by now! And SeeNew probably included it again because a lot of people rave about it.

Snow

See New featured this brand before.

@SeeNewSkincare So excited, can’t wait to get this one!

Enjoying my box. All the items are delicate surprises for my skin. Was not expecting to like the mist but my skin soaked it up. Loving See New’s curations lately.

Was very excited for this review, and it did not disappoint!

Dara

Will you please correct the headline. It’s Jan/Feb 2022. And yeah, this has got to be my favourite box ever – I’ve now discovered my HG brand.

Sanna@MSA

Thanks for the heads up Dara, the headline has been fixed 🙂

Stephanie

Out of the January Beauty Heroes Ayuna box, SeeNew’s Honua Box and Beauty Heroes February Earthwise box, this box is my favorite. Imagine that! Honua is just solid. Good formulas that are beautiful, effective AND affordable! It’s a win win here and Seenew really curated a good one.

I love the prompt response of this company. I placed an order an hour ago and it’s already shipped.

Karen

I had a similar experience a couple days ago. My first time ordering from them and already got to my house. Very pleased.

Cat

Kind of confused on the date here. I thought they were doing this brand now.

Reply ButtonReply

Sanna@MSA

Apologies for the confusion! This is the Jan/Feb 2022 box, the headline has been fixed 🙂

Melissa

You’re correct. This is the January/February box.

Reply ButtonReply

Snow

You are right, Cat! Wrong months.

Reply ButtonReply

Anisha

I enjoy this subscription. Looking forward to more.

Brenda

Could someone tell me what the balm is similar to? Is it like any other balm out there?

Reply ButtonReply

Jamie

This box looks divine. I told myself I was on a “no-buy” month, but I might have to give in for this one! Honua is one if my favorites. I received their balm in another box and can confirm, it really is that good.

Tara

Megan, I agree with you about the blue tansy balm being the star of the show… it’s FABULOUS! I had read comments about the wonderful it was but was hesitant, as I do have acne prone / mature skin. I am floored at how well my skin is reacting to this magical formula.

Reply ButtonReply

Snow

My face seriously needs some magic right now…..cystic acne everywhere, red, cracked skin that hurts when I smile (thanks wind chill!). Winter has been brutal here….we are actually running out of places to put our snow lol 🥶.

Jaclyn

I love my see new subscription. I believe this is their current box though, not Nov/Dec

Reply ButtonReply

Shea

I’ve been waiting for your review of this box Megan! I love you reviews & how you get into the ingredients list of each product! Do you think the SPF is safe for acne prone & oily skin types? I’ve been using it on the backs of my hands, waiting to see what you would say about it!

Reply ButtonReply

Megan @MSA

Hey Shea! I think it should be fine. Nothing really jumps out with high comedogenic ratings (I like to run everything through incidecoder.com to check this) and I haven’t had any issues around my jawline which is usually the place where I break out if I am going to! I also thought it absorbed pretty well, so I don’t think this will sit on top of oilier skin. Hope ypu enjoy it!

Stephanie

Quick note, this is the Jan/Feb box not the Nov/Dec box as mentioned in your heading.

Sanna@MSA

Thanks for the call-out, Stephanie! Headline has been fixed 🙂

Robyn

Oh this lovely. I’ve never gotten one of their boxes, but I had to get this one. Thanks for the review!
