BoxyCharm is a $25 monthly beauty and makeup subscription box. They always provide a great value compared to the cost of the box and include 5-6 beauty items that include nail care, skincare, makeup, haircare, fragrance, and more. (At least 4 of those items will be full-sized). If you are a makeup addict – we recommend this box!

First Impressions

Boxycharm always arrives with a cute card detailing all of the products inside and listed retail values.

Now, on to the items!

Wander Beauty Wandress Escape Eyeshadow Palette – Retail Value $42.00

This palette is making me long for summer! Too bad it is still the dead of winter. Luckily, this palette has enough color variety to still work in the coldest months of the year. Honestly, if you were to remove that ocean blue shade, it is downright seasonless. These 10 shades are a mix of matte and shimmer, and include everything from a soft shell cream to that rich teal. Ironically, that blue was actually the dud of the group, if there has to be one. The other shades were smooth and pigmented, with what I would consider to be a pretty average amount of fallout when using a brush. The teal was patchy and chunky in a way I didn't love and took a little extra work to set right. All in all, this was a really pretty palette with tons of wearable shades, and it came with the beachy vibes I crave this time of year.

Top to bottom: Moonlit, Enchanted, Flourish, Sunkissed, Santorini

Top to bottom: Nude Beach, Daydream, Stargaze, Sea Glass, Overnight.

GENERATION SKIN Hydrating Marine Algae Eye Patches, 30 pairs - Retail Value $49

If these patches look familiar, it is because I also received them in my July 2021 Boxycharm delivery:

I am going to admit that the price of these feels really high, but I am used to buying less expensive Korean eye gels. These are made in China “under strict supervision of The Blaq Group Pty Ltd Australia” which is an interesting little tidbit. I thought these had a slightly weird clinical smell, but, again, I am used to buying kawaii fruity patches! The ingredient list here is pretty great: allantoin, hyaluronic acid, algae, cicapair, green tea, and more! It is absolutely a list that would boost hydration and add antioxidants. I enjoyed these on too! In typical fashion, I let them chill in the fridge for an hour before I enjoyed them. My undereye looked less puffy and totally felt more moisturized.

Earth Harbor Naturals Nymph Nectar Superfruit Radiance Balm, 1 fl oz – Retail Value $38.00

Earth Harbor is one of those brands that I just love to root for. It feels very high-quality but still "small-business" and it has that casual-cool beachy vibe that I wish came to me naturally. And their formulas are great! This is a newer product with a heavier balm feel and a happy peachy color. It has a very sweet scent that I thought might be too much for me at first, but it is less overwhelming on the skin. Inside this balm is a combination of butters (kokum, mango, olive, and more) and botanical extracts (blueberry, basil, raspberry, and more). The result is a nourishing balm that is ideal for dull, dry, and aging skin AKA my skin. Because it is heavy in ingredient with Vitamins A, C, E, and K as well as loads of omegas, it helps immediately brighten the skin while promoting long-term benefits. I did find this was a little heavy for daytime because it leaves a sheen, but at night? A dream.

ITEM Beauty by Addison Rae Lip Quip Moisturizing Oil, 3.8 mL – Retail Value $14.00

ITEM Beauty was created by TikTok star Addison Rae, who honestly seems to be invading my boxes recently. Now, I am not really TikTok savvy, and I don't have feelings about her one way or the other, but I know loads of people dislike celebrity lines. And while that is fair, I always think of brands like Rare beauty by Selena Gomez and Fenty Beauty (that I absolutely adore!) before I make assumptions about a brand just because the face happens to be famous. You can still be a beauty addict who wants to put his/her name on great products even though you might be a celebrity. So, I try to approach items like this with an open mind. And, actually, I liked this stuff. I wouldn't personally qualify it as a typical lip oil because it has a lot more body and "balminess" than the word oil suggests. The texture of this formula is darn near perfect: medium weight, smooth, never sticky. The sheer coral shade adds just a little hint to my lips and the finish is super moisturizing. The scent is sweet and fruity though there isn't really a taste to speak of. So, yeah. I really liked this stuff. And while its TikTok famous creator might cause some eye-rolling, this stuff is solid.

DRAGUN BEAUTY Lip Job Liner & Sharpener 2.0 in '2.0 cc;  - Retail Value $16

I thought this was a brow pencil when I first opened it because it is very brown. But it is actually a lip liner. While I really struggle to pull off true brown lip shades, I can totally see this working for that perfect heavy-liner 90s look. Just maybe not on me. It was an extra-long pencil and it arrived with a sharpener. The pigment level was good, and the texture was smooth. Sadly, the color was just not for me, though I have a perfect recipient in mind for a re-gift!

Verdict

You know, I liked month's BoxyCharm. It delivered a value of $159, which is good for the subscription cost. The highlights for me were that ITEM lip oil, the Earth Harbor balm, and the eyeshadow palette. The liner will be gifted to a friend and the eye patches (though not new to me) will be used for sure. All in all, this box felt like it had a little bit of everything and I am pretty pleased.

I love natural/vegan beauty products, Korean skincare, unique jewelry, and weird candies from far away places. When I am not waiting for my next exciting box you can find me painting or taking photographs of interesting people. I never leave home without pug hair somewhere on my shirt and a bold lipstick on my smile.

The box is now $29.99 and you are suppose to get at least $175 value for the box. I have been very very ver disappointed after 5 years of getting all 3 boxes. I am canceling in March and taking a year off all subscription makeup and skincare boxes. The same Ky one I am keeping is Allure. I have so many products I can not physically use all of them. So I am going to go through all of my makeup and skincare. And donate it to the womens shelter here in my town. It’s a shelter for women who have left abusive relationships. And teens who are pregnant and got kicked out of their house. These moms are trying to get back on their feet. And who doesn’t love some makeup and skincare to make ya feel a little better. I also went through my 3 closests and donated 7 bags of clothes women men and boys clothes.

I have never since a lip liner that shade. Is there a name for the lip oil? I didn’t know if different shades were sent out.

I received the color “Come Thru,” which is described as sheer rose and said to be Addison’s signature color.
