BoxyCharm is a $25 monthly beauty and makeup subscription box. They always provide a great value compared to the cost of the box and include 5-6 beauty items that include nail care, skincare, makeup, haircare, fragrance, and more. (At least 4 of those items will be full-sized). If you are a makeup addict – we recommend this box!

First Impressions

Boxycharm always arrives with a cute card detailing all of the products inside and listed retail values. The theme for this month is "FantaSEA".

Now, on to the items!

Farmacy Whipped Greens: Oil-free Foaming Cleanser with Moringa and Papaya, 5 fl oz - Retail Value $28

This cleanser had been on my wishlist for a long time, so I was thrilled to receive it this month! I am a huge fan of both oil cleansers and balm textured cleansers. They treat my drier/combo face so nice! This cleanser was super gentle and though it did foam a little, I didn't find it drying at all. It has a wonderful scent and you only need a little to get your face good and clean. My favorite way to use this cleanser is on my dry face. It starts to break down my SPF and makeup right away and provides a nice amount of slip for a little massage before I hop in the shower. I do think I prefer the Farmacy Green Clean Cleansing Balm, but I loved this stuff and will happily use the entire tube!

Beauty Bakerie Oat (Translucent) Flour Setting Powder, 14 g - Retail Value $24

Beauty Bakerie is one of those brands that I think is absolutely adorable. Their packaging always makes me smile. I am not a huge translucent power enthusiast, but if you are, this one is very nice. It is finely milled and applies beautifully with a big fluffy brush to set your makeup look and give a soft velvet finish.

Generation Skin Hydrating Marine Algae Eye Patches, 30 pairs - Retail Value $49

I am going to admit that the price of these feels really high, but I am used to buying less expensive Korean eye gels. These are made in China "under strict supervision of The Blaq Group Pty Ltd Australia" which is an interesting little tidbit. I thought these had a slightly weird clinical smell, but, again, I am used to buying kawaii fruity patches! The ingredient list here is pretty great: allantoin, hyaluronic acid, algae, cicapair, green tea, and more! It is absolutely a list that would boost hydration and add antioxidants. I enjoyed these on too! In typical fashion, I let them chill in the fridge for an hour before I enjoyed them. My undereye looked less puffy and totally felt more moisturized.

OUTRÉ 8 in 1 + CBD/Leave-in Conditioner, 4 fl oz - Retail Value $30

I use OUAI's leave-in conditioner every single day, and it is one of my holy grail products. So impressing me with a different leave-in is a tall order for sure. This one was really great for smoothing and adding shine. I like to use it on towel-dried hair and squirt out product into my palms then comb it through. I also like to use a scrunching motion to (hopefully) boost my waves. Does this out-perform muy OUAI spray? Nah. But it is a great alternative and has a nice clean scent.

Basic Beauty Summer Lip Oil, 3.2 g - Retail Value $18

My final item this delivery was this tube of clear and glossy lip oil. It wasn't terribly "oily" in my opinion and really was more like a gloss. It was just fine as a gloss and I didn't find it super impressive. The site also recommends that you can use it overnight as a lip treatment, but I don't really recommend this as the number one ingredient is ethylhexyl palmitate which is pretty comedogenic and can lead to some of those pesky around the mouth zits that are so painful.

Verdict

This month's BoxyCharm was a little hit and miss. The hits? That Farmacy cleanser for sure. The eye gels were a great end-of-summer sort of skin treat. I also liked the powder, even though I don't use loose powder all that often. The hair conditioner was also really nice! I was less enthused about the lip oil but not everything can be a home run. All in all, that wouldn't ever make it into my top 10 Boxycharm deliveries, but the value was still there.

I love natural/vegan beauty products, Korean skincare, unique jewelry, and weird candies from far away places. When I am not waiting for my next exciting box you can find me painting or taking photographs of interesting people. I never leave home without pug hair somewhere on my shirt and a bold lipstick on my smile.
