We know you love our monthly favorites posts so here's our monthly post highlighting our favorite BEAUTY discoveries from subscription boxes! Here are our favorite skincare, green beauty, and makeup items from the past month:

Jessica's Favorite:

clear glass bottle of blue facial oil

The Item: Herbivore Botanicals Lapis Blue Tansy Facial Oil

The Cost:  $72 for 1.7 oz, $48 for 1 oz

From: AIA Beauty x Herbivore Botanicals

Why I love it: When I saw the September box from AIA Beauty featured five full-size products from Herbivore Botanicals, I thought it was too good to be true- and then immediately knew I needed to review this box for MSA because if I am having those thoughts, I am sure others are too. Luckily, this box was completely genuine, and I was able to be reunited with the Lapis facial oil. I’ve tried it in the past and liked it, but getting this jar reintroduced me to how much my skin loves blue tansy. I have been using this every night layered underneath a sleeping mask or heavier moisturizer, and it has been helping me to wake up with hydrated, glowing skin with minimal redness.

Naomi's Favorite:

Open Tub of Kryslee Body Souffle in Watermelon for Cocotique September 2021

The Item: KRYSLEE Watermelon & Grape Body Souffles

The Cost:$11

From: Cocotique

Why I love it: The watermelon scent is so delicious. It transports me back to summer fun every time I use it. I love how fine the all-natural sugar exfoliant is. It sloughs off all the dead skin cells, and with the shea butter base, leaves my skin feeling brand new and hydrated with no residual dryness. I even keep one by my sink in the kitchen that I use on my hands after washing dishes to combat the drying effects of the water and dish soap.

Becca's Favorite:

The Item: Dove Exfoliating Body Polish

The Cost: $6.47

From: Walmart Beauty Box

Why I love it: Coming in a variety of new scents, Dove body polish has been my go-to body exfoliant since it made its debut a couple of years ago. I typically use this every 3-4 days on my arms and legs for extra soft, smooth skin and just can’t get enough of this pomegranate aroma. Inexpensive and easy to find, this is one of my must-haves on my shower shelf.

Brandi's Favorite:

The Item: Essential Living Silicone Scalp Massager

The Cost: $18

From: Essentials Crate

ACTIVE DEAL: Get 15% off your first order!
CODE: MSA15

Why I love it: Who doesn’t love having their scalp massaged when they go to get a haircut? This silicone massager has flexible bristles that are just firm enough to feel great on your head. I love that it is all one piece making it easy to clean and it has a little hole in it so I can add some string and hang it up leaving more room on my shelf and ensuring it dries in between uses.

Sanna's Favorite:

Beauty Pie Plantastic

The Item: BEAUTY PIE Plantastic Apricot Butter Cleansing Balm

The Cost: $18.69

From: BEAUTY PIE

Why I love it: I love the idea and feel of cleansing balms but a lot of them don’t work for me because I have oily/combination skin and they tend to make me break out. But not so with this rich and delicious-smelling balm. It’s subtle, fruity, and has the perfect consistency that’s thick but easy to scoop out. It makes the first step of a double cleanse a real treat and sometimes I don’t even bother with a second cleanser because it doesn’t leave your skin feeling greasy.

Sanna subscribes to BEAUTY PIE on her own, but visit our brand page for more info. Read more reviews by Sanna here!

Abby's Favorite:

mascara with wand pointing to the heavens

The Item: Act Natural Mascara in Black

The Cost: $14

From: ColourPop Secret Stash Mystery Box

Why I love it: I can’t tell you how grueling it is for me to fall for a new mascara. There are so many boxes to check and so many expectations to live up to! I love to try new formulas, but I typically never stray from my tried and true favorites (shout out to Benefit’s Roller Lash & Bad Gal Bang Mascara). Enter this gem: it is my new go-to! It is a wet formula, but it is easy to layer. It builds so nicely, never clumps and it makes my lashes so long and full. I love that it stays on all day without running or flaking, yet it is so easy to remove at night.

Hi there, I'm Christen. I am all sorts of things:

🌳 a writer who loves to convey feeling

🌲 a mother who wants to have just as much fun as my kids do

🌳 an outdoors-lover who's achieved #1000hoursoutside with my family

🌲 a low-maintenance self-carer

🌳 a general hungry person with an unstoppable sweet tooth

You'll find me collecting stationery and squirreling away stickers, riding bikes and swimming with my family, creating outfits in colors and silhouettes that make me feel amazing, wearing big earrings, drinking beer and asking my husband to feed me harmonies to sing, taking my vitamins, living for dancing to live music, roping everyone into a craft, being human and vulnerable, and celebrating the phenomenon of being alive.

...and doing it all with energy, delight, and jokes along the way.

The scalp massager is a good idea but I find my fingers are a great alternative.Plus I can control the pressure. This gadget is something I would consider trying.
