First Impressions

Up until now, we have also been receiving this informative pamphlet featuring all of the items that could possibly be included in your Walmart Beauty Box but this season's pamphlet showed only the specific items included in the box. It also stated we would be receiving five products (last season we received six). Interesting...

Real Techniques Sponge - Retail Value $4.66

As a teen, I struggled with severe acne, which has led me to a life-long friendship with foundation. I have tried multiple application tools in the past but always slink back to using my fingers. That being said, I wanted to give this Real Techniques Sponge a try, and after watching the video tutorial on the Real Techniques website I learned how to successfully use it. While I didn’t notice a huge difference in my makeup application per se, I did like how well it blended my makeup into my hairline and neck. Another perk - my hands were left relatively clean afterward! A fun inclusion that has proved to be quite useful.

Thanks to Neutrogena SkinClearing foundation my skin behaves a bit better than it used to in my teens, though I still struggle at least once a month. Pairing that with the Real Techniques sponge proved to be effective and cleaner, a win on all accounts!

Burt's Bees Sensitive Facial Cleanser - Estimated Value $1.46 (Buy a 6 oz container for $8.76)

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: I am a fan of pretty much anything from Burt’s Bees. I’ve had really good luck with their lip balms, moisturizers, and face wipes, so I was excited to try this facial cleanser. Because I don’t have sensitive skin, I can’t say for sure that the cotton extract is extra soothing, but I did enjoy this formula. I also like the fact that this cleanser wasn't scented and was a bit thicker than some other cleansers I've used in the past for an extra clean feel. It worked well to rid my face of all the day's oils and makeup residue, and left my skin soft and feeling fresh. I see they also have a refining cleanser that includes a natural retinol alternative - my mid-30s skin may have to look into that! Has anyone given it a try?

Dove Exfoliating Body Polish - Estimated Value $1.23 (Buy a 10.5 oz container for $6.47)

Ever since Dove introduced their exfoliating body polish line, I have had a container in my tub. This delicious smelling scrub works wonders for smoothing out skin, polishing off dry skin, and helping my legs look their best after shaving. I have tried almost every scent, and so far the pomegranate is my fave - I did notice they just released a lavender-scented polish, so I will definitely be checking that out. I was extremely excited to receive a travel-sized container for when I am on the go and don’t want to lug around my large one! Does anyone else enjoy this body polish as much as I do?

Liquid IV Hydration Multiplier Passion Fruit Electrolyte Drink Mix - Estimated Value $1.50 (Buy a box of 6 for $8.98)

There is nothing more refreshing than an ice-cold drink of water, and that is exactly how I like it....tasting like plain old tap water straight from our well. I've tried drink mixes in the past and just don't love them. This one was no exception. While the science behind this brand is quite interesting, and the basic point of it is to replenish electrolytes more efficiently and in greater supply than typical sports drinks, I just didn't love the taste. I found it a little too tart and honestly, it gave me a slight "Truly lemonade" vibe without the buzz. Even though I didn't enjoy it, my husband thought it was alright so it didn't go to waste.

invisibobble WAVER - Retail Value $6.00

Hair accessories are an absolute must-have in my wardrobe and I probably own over 50 different headbands and 200 bobby pins. Side note: I just learned how to make my own knotted headbands to match the skirts I have been sewing and my husband is starting to think I have lost it! Anyways, because I wear my hair up with my headbands, I have a few little baby hairs at my neckline that just don't like to do what they are told. Using a plain old bobby pin has been my go-to, but they tend to get lost extremely easily and just aren't that fun and exciting. When I opened this package of pink, clear, and fuchsia invisibobble WAVER pins, I was so excited to give them a whirl.

These plastic, painless clips worked great for my side bun and kept my mischievous little hairs in place all day - even while chasing kindergarteners. One of my favorite parts of this snazzy little clip is that it doesn't leave crimps in my hair and doesn't tug or feel heavy. I can't wait to play around with these a little more to debut them in the front of my head, especially that bright pink one!

Verdict

I have to admit when I first opened the fall Walmart Box I thought it looked a little lackluster. The items were small and the box looked incomplete. I wasn't all that excited about the Liquid IV, but after checking out the rest of the products, I was pleasantly surprised. Four out of the five items proved to be very useful and the fact that I received two full-size items really made me feel like I got a pretty good deal. Like I mentioned in the review, I like trying new products, but with the overwhelming number of items on the market, it is hard to know which way to turn, so receiving a box of goodies like this is just the ticket for me. I did notice that the retail values of the items were a bit different than the online prices - prices listed were lower than what they were online, which was odd, but maybe store prices are lower? How do you feel about the revamp and change to 5 items? What did you think of this particular box?

The total value of this quarter's box came out to be about $14.85, which is quite a bit lower than the value of last season's box, but still more than double the cost of the box. Receiving two full-size items was key in this month's curation and because all of the items were things I would use, I found it a pretty darn good deal.

Has anyone still not received their Fall box? Payment went through in the middle of August. It is now Oct. 28th and I still have not received my box. It is still saying that my product hasn’t shipped. I think more than enough time has passed.

It’s been 3 weeks. My subscription has been canceled for months and they took money out of my account but no box has come.

My box was damaged and I only received the candle..very dissapointed

poor shipping box

Tammy

I was so unimpressed with my box I canceled it. I had been a subscriber for years and felt the products are not worth the price increase. I did not get the exact same product you did

Marion

My insert shows the same items as you got, Becca, except I got a Natural Vitality “Calm” supplement (I have received this before :/) in lieu of the Liquid IV drink, and instead of the Dove scrub I had been looking forward to, I received a Find Your Happy Place “After the Rain” hand cream.

Does Walmart send tracking numbers? If so, I do not get them. Got this quarter’s box pretty fast but missing Invisibobble. Does everyone get upgrade emails? Not me!

If you log into your account, you can click on “My Account”, scroll down to recent orders and click on “view” under “Action”. The second tab should be “Order Shipments” and should show your tracking number when they update it 🙂

The only thing I get is the notification that I paid for the box and it says I’ll receive a tracking number when it ships. Never happens. But the box usually shows up about a month after.

I paid for my 2021 Fall Box on August 20, and have not yet received it. It is now September 27, and it still says that my order is STILL being processed. I contacted CS twice and was told I should be receiving it any time. NOT!!! I am about to cancel my subscrption.

Noth Anks

I’ve seen that more frequently than not…I’ve had to contact customer service for the last 3 boxes…For this one, they stopped responding to emails asking for updates. :/ On the 1st of Oct my account said “complete” but still no shipping. TODAY the tracking number FINALLY shows something! So…7 weeks after being charged, you might actually get something!

Hallie

Same! I paid August 20th and got the same blah response. 40% of the boxes have to be refunded to me because they never send them. Why?

April

I like that Walmart is incorporating some of the newer beauty brands they’ve taken on! Classics like Dove and Burts Bees are great to add on’s too. I think this box price point is great for anyone that wants to dip a toe in the subscription waters. Loved the review!

Thank you April! I really appreciate the comments!

Really wanted the scrub. I ended up getting a foil packet of tanning drops (isn’t this supposed to be a fall box) and some adhesive nail strips, with the sponge, cleanser and hair clips. I was pretty disappointed. Now I remember why I had cancelled before. Big miss.

Rhonda Wilson

I got the same things on 27 Sept and I’ve been a subscriber for years. Don’t really know what’s going on but disappointed with this box when I got the sample of the tanning drops and the nails. They’ve sent me nails before and they’re not something I normally use.

Sara N Martin

I had the same issue. I got tanning drops instead of the scrub and the adhesive nail strips instead of the electrolyte drink mix. Actually, that sub was okay. These 2 products were not in the card. I think because I got my box so late – Sep 28th – they ran out of products they were supposed to send. This has happened to me in the past. I have been a subscriber for many years, too.

I ended up with the same little foil pack of tanning drops, nail strips, and drink mix….and the same shipping woes.
And I’ve been a subscriber for years.
I canceled after this extremely disappointing box.
And I could have sworn they were supposed to have revamped the entire box program…

Heather

I ended up with the same thing. That’s the second time I’ve gotten the tan drops and it isn’t something I’ll use. I was happy with the polish strips though. They are full size and have a better retail value. But if you won’t use them then that doesn’t matter. I never use the beauty blenders so I wait until I have a few and then sell them online.

Michele

That is disappointing Michele. That sounds more like a mix of the Summer box and the Fall box. Did you just sign up this season?

Kristina

Mine is the same, and I live in PA… Emailed customer service last week, waiting to hear back.

Reply ButtonReply

Melanie

Same! Mine is stuck in my local distribution facility and has been there for over two weeks. Super frustrating.

Reply ButtonReply

Becca

KRO444 I hate when mail gets stuck like that, and it seems like it is happening more often. Have you tried reaching out to customer service?

PA is a vortex. Sorry to say. I live there.

Michelle

I didn’t get the clips or the drink packet. I got a bliss resurfacing peel mask(foil packet) instead and a c’est moi soothing facial mask1.7 oz and also my sponge was orange

Reply ButtonReply

Becca

Thanks for commenting Michelle. Have you tried the bliss resurfacing peel? Did you like it?

Reply ButtonReply

Cheryl W

I got the same thing.. I wish I had gotten the clips.. Got lots of hair and I am a fan of Invisibobble. 🙂

Reply ButtonReply

Becca

Thanks for commenting Cheryl W. I really like the Invisibobbles too! I just checked out their website and they have some super adorable headbands, and a product called a bunstar. I am very intrigued!!

Marion

Still waiting for my box! I’ve been wanting to try the Dove body scrub for a while (my current favorite is the OUAI scrub and lord knows I’d love to find one I like as much for a lower price point!). This could potentially be a really good season for me. I’m hoping to get the C’est Moi make up wipes, too, since I use that type of product every day.

I know a lot of people who picked the upgraded version of the box had shipping issues with damaged items & broken candles.

Becca

I hope you get your box soon Marion. Let me know what you receive once your box arrives!

They charged my card on 11/23/2021 and I still have not gotten my box. It still says processing. It’s been about 7 weeks. First box and I am not impressed. I will not recommend this to anyone. As soon as I get my box if I ever do I’m canceling my subscription.

Sherri

I upgraded and my box came to me looking like it had been through hell – all torn up and then a bunch of packaging tape to try to put it back together. Surprisingly, 6 of 7 items, and also the pamphlet, were still in the box and not damaged. I did reach out to CS about the missing item and they are going to send me a replacement.

Reply ButtonReply

Becca

Thanks for commenting Sherri, I’m glad they are making it right for you. The candle I received in my upgraded box was damaged as well, and they sent me a replacement that came in perfect condition. Hoping yours does too!

Sherri

Heather, Walmart sent an email offering the upgrade and a link to follow to select it.

SubBoxSarah

I upgraded and my candle was broken. They are sending me a whole new box as a replacement

Reply ButtonReply

Marion

Heather, they sent out an email a month or so back with full spoilers for the upgraded box, & you could click to switch your seasonal box to the spoiled one. I believe you could also visit the website to upgrade directly from your account even if you didn’t get the email for whatever reason.

Heather S.

How do you upgrade???

Tmack79

This season’s box was a big time miss for me. Received a charcoal clay mask but since I have dry skin, that’s not a good product for it. The real techniques sponge is ok but I have a bunch of sponges I just bought. Didn’t need another facial cleanser or those nasty dump in water drink packets. I’ll give the body polish a try but I’m not a big fan of pomegranate so I’m doubtful I’ll enjoy it.

Reply ButtonReply

Becca

I’m sorry to hear that TMACK79. I hope that you end up enjoying the pomegranate body polish.

I’m not going to be happy if my box contains the hairclips. If so, this will be the 3rd box in a row for me that includes an item for long hair. And for that matter, the makeup sponge also.
I have very short hair, and don’t wear makeup…both of which I stated in my profile upon signing up.
I’m not impressed at all with these re-vamped boxes.
Jeez, I miss Targets…

I upgraded so I didn’t get this box. I totally forgot above the Dove scrub. I bought that when it first came out and it is lovely. I moved on to coffee ones and they are harder to find. Might have to revisit the Dove. I started using sponges and this was the first brand. I like the angle on this one.
