So what better way to find out than to call up Jana Kramer (you probably know her from the country music stage!) and Sarah Boyd to find out the real story behind how these besties came up with the box that earned a spot on our best boxes for parents-to-be AND best boxes for toddlers lists!
MSA: What was your inspiration for starting Moms + Babes box?
Jana and Sarah: When we started the business we had 2 year old daughters (Ava & Jolie) and first time moms. We would always have mom guilt buying anything for ourselves, and simultaneously loved subscription boxes and the surprise element. We noticed that there wasn't anything on the market that catered to moms AND their babes so we created Moms + Babes Box.
We want all the mommas out there to be pampered, feel appreciated but also have a fun gift to open up every three months with their little one. Our daughters get SO excited when they see the Moms + Babes box on the front doorstep, and we are even more excited to get OUR items. We wanted to provide a huge value as well, which is why the box only costs just over $50 including free shipping but valued usually over $200!
MSA: What is your favorite part of the box?
Jana and Sarah: Every 3 months it has different products for mom and babe, so of course my favorites are the mom items. I'm a sucker for skincare, and we've had some incredible skincare items from my favorite brands like Bioderma, Limelife by Alcone to name a few.
MSA: What's your favorite product you have featured?
Jana and Sarah: I loved this product in a recent box called The Feelings Spinner which we now use every night during dinner. It gets us all talking about our feelings which is #momgoals!
MSA: What are upcoming products/collabs that you are excited to introduce to your customers?
Jana and Sarah: So many exciting products in the near future and only a few spots left, so make sure you subscribe right away to snag yours! For all the skincare junkies, Bioderma is coming back, as well as Dr. Zenovia Skincare, plus some fun products for the kiddos.
MSA: What have you learned about each other, moms, kids, etc. since launching?
Jana and Sarah: We have learned that there are so many incredible moms out there like us and by sharing the daily struggles (usually over a glass of wine) helps. We created a private Facebook community for Moms + Babes, and it's filled with supportive mamas spilling their feelings or just discussing which stroller is best. It's been so fun to create this community of moms making it through motherhood day by day just like us. We wanted to show the REAL side of motherhood, because being on social media you typically see the picture perfect family with the perfectly packed lunchbox. That's not us...and let's be real, it's not many people, so we wanted to show the raw, real and honest side of motherhood and we found that lots of other women found it refreshing and joined us!
MSA: Any favorite stories around working on the box to share?
Jana and Sarah: We had a lot of fun dreaming up brands we wanted to work with, we had many nights (complete with Postmates and a glass of wine) and it was super cool to see lots of those brands become partners!
MSA: What are your goals with the box?
Jana and Sarah: We'd like to continue to better each box, expand on our offerings to create more of a full lifestyle shop for moms.
MSA: Anything else our readers should know?
Jana and Sarah: Please give us feedback on how we could improve! We've recently brought on a new CEO and moved all of our warehousing in-house which has improved our infrastructure tremendously. We hope you join our family!
