Look Fantastic x Laura Mercier Limited Edition Box Review

Laura Mercier Blush Color Infusion in Strawberry, 6 g - Retail Value $32.00

I feel pretty comfortable with most makeup skills, but blush is the one thing that always makes me wary- I chalk it up to the years of inflamed red cheeks due to rosacea leaving me to want less color on my cheeks, not more. I was even more apprehensive when I saw the shade Strawberry is described as a "matte bright pink"- that sounds pretty out of my comfort zone! I really appreciate how you can control the pigment with this blush- your brush can pick up only a bit for a whisper of blush (my style), or you can really swirl the brush for a more bold look that will also show up on deeper complexions. I found the formula to be pleasantly buildable and blendable- when I started applying I was worried I had applied too much and would hate the finished look, but I was really able to blend it out for a flush I was much more comfortable with.

Laura Mercier Pure Canvas Primer Hydrating Primer, 50ml - Retail Value $39.00

I can see why this primer is award-winning- it was lightweight, hydrating, and was a great base for my foundation. You only need a small bit of this primer for your entire face (the first time I used it I accidentally used too much), and it did leave my skin feeling soft. I was incredibly pleased with how this primer and the setting powder (also included in this box) worked together with my Too Faced Born This Way foundation, so now that I have tried it out I'm really happy this was one of the full-size items in the box. And, honestly? Even if you don't have dry skin I still think this is worth checking out.

Laura Mercier Caviar Volume Panoramic Mascara, 12 ml - Retail Value $25.00

I really love trying out mascaras, so I was excited to try this- and it did not disappoint! This gives me everything I look for in a mascara (volume, length, curl) without any of the clumping. I honestly expected to have a more difficult time achieving my desired lash look because of how big the wand is, but somehow it still works. I've been wearing this mascara for a few days now, and I really love its staying power- it doesn't smudge, smear, or run down my face the way some other mascaras do, making it ideal for these humid Louisiana summers.

Laura Mercier Caviar Eyeshadow Stick in Au Naturel, 0.03 oz - Retail Value $14.00

I am no stranger to the caviar eyeshadow sticks from Laura Mercier, but I have always loved and leaned towards the shimmery shades. Because of that, I was really surprised at how much I loved this matte nude shade. It is the perfect color to apply all over my eyelid to look more awake and put together, and it doesn't take more than a second or two to swipe it on. Since getting it in this box I have actually been wearing it to work every morning (along with the mascara!) because it truly is so easy to quickly apply (I can't remember the last time I wore eyeshadow this many days in a row- if I don't have a scheduled court appearance I usually don't bother with makeup at all). The formula blends really easily (sometimes I like to use a fluffy brush just to blend out the edges so it looks more seamless), and I don't experience smudging when I apply it on my lower lash line. I genuinely can't remember the last time I was this pleased with a matte eyeshadow, but Laura Mercier knows what she's doing.

Laura Mercier Rouge Essential Lipstick in Rouge Ultime, 0.04 oz - Estimated Value $14.00 (buy the same size in a different shade here)

I find this tiny lipstick to be incredibly adorable- what is it about minis that just make my heart happy? Laura Mercier describes this as a true red, but I definitely disagree- there's a lot of pink undertones that make this more berry on my skin than a true red. That being said, I still like the color and how bright and fun it is. The formula is creamy, and it does transfer a bit. I was actually surprised with the staying power on this because it wasn't drying and definitely transferred to my water glass and hands (I was eating peel and eat shrimp), but somehow after lunch I still had lipstick on and it didn't look a mess. I applied this by dabbing it on more than swiping, and I think that is my preferred way to use lipsticks with this formula.

Here are the swatches. At the top, we have the eyeshadow stick, followed by the lipstick, and then two applications of blush (one light-handed and one heavy-handed) to show how it builds up.

Laura Mercier Translucent Setting Powder,  0.12 oz - Estimated Value $8.36 (buy the 0.33 oz version for $23.00)

I think this is the most iconic product from Laura Mercier, and the setting power deserves the hype- I honestly forgot how well it worked until I applied it and then was surprised at how seamless and smooth my finished makeup look looked. This tiny jar is kind of terrible, but I just tapped some out onto a larger surface before picking it up with my fluffy face brush and applied it. Honestly, I really felt like this made a noticeable difference compared to the other setting powders I have been using, both in real life and in selfies.

Here I am wearing the primer, blush, eyeshadow, mascara, lipstick, and setting powder. I'm also wearing the Laura Mercier Highlighter that came in a previous BoxyCharm to complete my Laura Mercier-only look. I really feel like the setting powder made it look like my pores disappeared. If you're interested in seeing me apply everything, I made a video for that, too.

Laura Mercier Illuminating Eye Cream, 0.12 oz- Estimated Value $13.92 (buy the 0.5 oz version for $58.00)

I've never tried any Laura Mercier skincare, so I was interested in giving this eye cream and the moisturizer a shot. I liked it- the formula has shea butter, coffee seed oil, and peptides, and the texture was creamy without being too heavy. If I'm being honest, though, I wasn't wowed by it. It did a good job as an eye cream, but nothing about it makes me feel like I need to repurchase the full size.

Laura Mercier Perfect Cream Multi-tasking Moisturizer, 0.26 oz- Estimated Value $10.40 (buy the 1.7 oz version for $68.00)

I'll be honest- products like this always confused me because I apply sunscreen between my moisturizer and my makeup, so I don't get how it helps with preparing your skin for makeup. My personal confusion aside, this was a nice moisturizer. It has antioxidants, fermented black tea extract, and some marine botanicals to nourish the skin, and it absorbed into my skin quickly without feeling heavy but still leaving my skin feeling plump and moisturized. I enjoyed this, but like the eye cream, this didn't wow me.

The Verdict: I loved this limited edition Laura Mercier box from Look Fantastic- honestly, while I had tried some of the makeup products before, it made me fall in love with the brand all over again. Trying out the skincare was nice, but the makeup from Laura Mercier is truly the star (so much so I actually ended up buying myself a full-size jar of the setting powder when Sephora was offering quadruple points for Rouge members this past weekend). I appreciate that this kit came with three full-size products- a box at this price point needs to. If you like the full-size items, this box is definitely worth it- the cost of the three full-size items alone is the same as the cost of the entire box. If trying out the skincare products was your top interest, I don't think this is the box for you. Value-wise, everything adds up to $156.68, which is a little over $60 more than the cost of the box. If you're a fan of Laura Mercier (or just high-quality makeup in general) and this box is in your budget, I definitely recommend it.

I love the look that you put together! And I feel you on the blush. I realized only recently that I’ve been putting on blush wrong my entire adult life, applying it way too high, almost like a highlighter (though apparently that’s the trend now on Tik Tok, so whatever). Following the advice of smiling in the mirror and then applying it to the apples of my cheek and blending out has given me a blush look I’m much more confident in. I typically stick to nude blushes because they make my cheeks look super sculpted, but I like the way that bright pink blush looks on you. Maybe I’ll try a bold blush next.
