GlossyBox July 2021 Review

GlossyBox includes an info booklet that tells you about each included item, its value, and a tip on how to use it.

Purlisse Beauty Blue Lotus + Seaweed Treatment Sheet Mask - Retail Value $6.00

This mask is great for dry and sensitive skin to help fight dryness, inflammation, irritation, redness, and discoloration. All of these things get a big yes from me! To use this mask, all you have to do is apply to clean skin for 15 to 20 minutes, remove, and rub any excess serum into your skin before heading off to bed. This mask felt so cooling and fresh on my skin, leaving me hydrated and glowing the next morning. Some of the top ingredients include blue lotus to soothe redness and irritated skin, seaweed for hydration and anti-inflammatory benefits, mulberry to brighten, and anise fruit to provide intense moisture. I wish I had so many more of these masks to use on my dry summer skin from the pool and sun and later for my dry winter skin. This mask was a huge win for me!

Elaina Badro Divine Duo Set - Listed Value $34.00

I have so many brushes, I just love when new ones arrive in a fun color! This set comes with an angled brush and a blending brush. I wasn't able to find too much more about these brushes, but they seem in line with what a synthetic brush would feel like. I wasn't in love with the blending brush, it didn't get in and really blend as much as I needed. I typically prefer blending brushes to be a bit thicker to really get in and blend out any harsh lines. This brush felt a bit flimsy for what I was trying to do. I am really in love with the angled brush because I can use it to fill my eyebrows! I received an amazing dual brow powder in my latest So Susan Color Curate that I am loving, but the brush that it came with is so small and hard to use. This brush really allows me to do gentle strokes to lightly fill my brows without going overboard.

Batiste Volumizing Dry Shampoo, 1.5 fl oz. - Estimated Value $3.99 (buy a 6.73 fl oz. bottle here for $9.99)

My hair is super thick and curly so I don't really ever have a need for dry shampoo. I wash my hair every three days and I luckily never look greasy, just super fuzzy. My Mom swears by dry shampoo and is always game to try new ones so I passed this along to her. Before I gave it to her though I wanted to see how this sprayed and smelled. This obviously comes out really fast like any aerosol can so be sure you are giving enough space when using this product on your hairline, and the smell was really light with hints of floral without being overpowering. The scent really lingered but in a really clean and lovely way. I could see myself loving using this on my hair just for the smell! This is a waterless formula to refresh your hair while the talc and silica work to absorb oil all while adding volume.

Verso Skincare Eye Cream, 0.23 fl oz. - Estimated Value $21.00 (buy 0.67 fl oz. here for $60.00)

Eye creams can be so hard to get excited about mainly because I can't really see the impact of using the product right away. I also think that eye creams just don't really excite me too much anymore. My eyes are very sensitive so I am always a little nervous to try a new brand. This cream is made to nourish, soften, strengthen, and hydrate that sensitive eye area. The rich formula is created to protect your skin barrier and build a healthy hydration level. This eye cream works in such a highly efficient way thanks to fermented oat and a hyaluronic acid-boosting yeast extract. I was pleasantly surprised by this eye cream! It is thick so a little goes a long way, just dab a small amount to your under-eye area. I felt instant hydration that was so cooling, I didn't even realize my skin was dry until applying this for the first time. When I wake up, my eyes look less puffy and feel a bit brighter which also helps when applying makeup to that sensitive area. This was a pleasant surprise for me personally, I just wish I got a bigger bottle of it!

Ciaté London Glow-To Illuminating Blush – Retail Value $26.00

I have found recently that I am all about cream blush. Since this is a powder, I wasn't too excited to give it a try, but I am really happy that I did! This powder has a silky matte finish with Prisma technology to add that extra bit of glow. This blend is vegan and comes in six different shades. Since these are marbled together to combine the highlight and blush, no two compacts are ever the same! I applied this quickly before heading to the pool and I love how fresh it made my face look. It felt effortless while giving me a glow that looks like I worked really hard to achieve. While I still am obsessed with my cream blush, I am going to keep this to use here and there.

Verdict: This month's GlossyBox was a great curation of products! I loved receiving the brush set, which felt a bit different from products past. While I wasn't blown away by the blender brush, the angled brush is now being used daily. I was pretty bored seeing the eye cream until I actually gave it a go. I felt instant hydration that was so soothing all while not irritating my eyes at all! The mask was another winner since it was all about hydration. My summer skin is feeling beat down from the chlorine and sun so this is exactly what I needed. While I didn't have a need for the dry shampoo, I was happy to pass it along to my Mom. The blush was another surprise for me, it felt effortless to apply and had a big impact. The products this month have an estimated retail value of around $90.99 which is great for a $21.00 box. This box felt light and fun with a great curation of products. Were you excited by the products this month? Let me know in the comments!

Has anyone else had a hard time with Glossybox? I did the $10 box promo on 6/30. I was then charged $21 on 7/2. They double charged for the same box. They refunded $10. I had to call again to get the rest of it refunded ($11). I then emailed as it said my box shipped the first week of July but didn’t show any movement when I looked at the tracking. I didn’t receive a response. I called and sat on hold for 35 minutes. She said the box was lost in transit and she would send a replacement. I had cancelled my account and removed my billing information because the hassle just wasn’t worth it. I was then charged two days later..another $21. Im currently on hold and it has been 42 minutes.

Website says the July box is still available. Have not received my July box in the mail yet or got any kind of tracking number.

I don’t believe the blush “sample” has a retail value of $26.00 it is not full size.

I also have thick hair that can easily turn frizzy by day 2, and I also don’t really have a need for dry shampoos or texturizer sprays. I tried to give them all as they would come in to a friend who LOVES those types of products, but even she was getting overwhelmed with everything I was giving her, so I decided to start using them as hair fragrances since they all usually smell so good! That’s been working great, and on the rare occasion I get a tad heavy handed with my styling products, I just spray a bit of dry shampoo in my loose hair then brush it through and it “cleans” it like a champ! (my favorite is from DryBar… it leaves my hair so soft & clean feeling like I never had anything in it at all)

That’s a great use for dry shampoo! Going to keep that in mind. Thanks for sharing!
