February 2021 Petit Vour Review

Each box arrives with a card detailing the items included and their listed values.

KVoss Perfecting Potion, 0.34 oz  - Retail Value $28

I did a double-take when I saw the retail price for this small tube, but the numbers don’t lie. This perfecting potion is a primer with skincare benefits – it’s made with sage extract and sea kelp, and while it does have silicones in the formula it doesn’t have a heavy silicone feel the way many products do. I really liked the way this felt on my face, it was lightweight and slightly blurring. The website claims this also can work as an “illuminating cream highlighter,” but I would stick with just using it as a nice primer- I didn’t really notice any of the sheen this claims to have.

Goldfaden MD Doctor’s Scrub, 0.25 oz - Estimated Value $5.35 (buy the 3.5 oz version for $75)

I prefer chemical exfoliants to physical ones, but when I use a physical scrub on my face the texture of this one from Goldfaden MD is exactly what I want. It features ultra-fine ruby crystal Microderm exfoliants (like, so small I could barely see the granules), and as long as I didn’t press too firmly when massaging this into my face this scrub stayed gentle. It was still an effective scrub, though, and I like that along with the physical grit the formula has nourishing ingredients like jojoba oil, hyaluronic acid, and seaweed extract.

Elate Cosmetics LipColour Pencil in Serene, 3 g - Retail Value $22

I liked this lip pencil. The shade Serene is described as a neutral rose with brown tones, and on me, it's a nude-pink that is just a touch darker than my regular lip color. I love colors like this – it works really well when I’m going for a minimal look but still want to feel put together. The formula was creamy, too, but that meant it didn’t last super long on my lips. It was comfortable to wear and the color faded really nicely instead of leaving a ring of color along the outermost part of my lips, so I will continue to reach for this.

David’s Premium Natural Toothpaste in Peppermint, 1.75 oz - Estimated Value $3.32 (buy the 5.25 oz version for $9.95)

I am just going to come right out and say that I am team fluoride in my toothpaste, so when I tried this out I knew it wouldn’t be replacing my regular toothpaste. Compared to my regular Crest, this toothpaste was a lot thinner in texture and became very watery in my mouth as I brushed. I didn’t particularly love the mouthfeel, but I did really like how zesty the peppermint taste was. It’s completely psychological but the more strongly peppermint my toothpaste is, the more I feel like my mouth is clean and my breath is fresh. Once I was done brushing, my mouth did feel really clean (was it the zest of the peppermint? Was it the limestone abrasive and baking soda in the formula getting to work in my mouth? I will never know), and I plan on saving this small size for travel when going a day or two without fluoride isn’t a big deal for my teeth.

Verdict: I really enjoy my Petit Vour subscription. I don’t strictly look for vegan or natural beauty products, and I never know what I’m going to get, but so far I have been pleasantly surprised by the items I find inside each month. This month’s box featured two full-size items that each retail for more than the cost of the box and I am happy with the value for the price (everything adds up to $58.67) and the focus on vegan and natural beauty products.

I miss what PV was. I loved so many of the products they sent out but I haven’t been tempted to subscribe in over a year now.

I am 100% team fluoride too. That lip pencil looks really nice!

This seems like an ok box, but nothing that would wow me. I think it’s interesting that the scrub estimate is higher than what they printed on the card.
