FabFitFun Winter 2020 Review

Let's see what is inside! (If you aren't familiar, FabFitFun lets subscribers pick several of their items each season - I'll show you what I picked for each selection.)

First choice item:

Choice 1 – All members get the chance to customize these options in their box.

  • Vera Bradley CompactOrganizer – $50
  • UnHide Lil’ MarshmallowBlanket – $65
  • BOMSHBEE® SloaneChampagne Flutes (Set of 4) – $51
  • Summer & Rose Cozy Robe – $70
  • LOLI Beauty™ Tea Seed Elixir – $42
  • kate spade new york Rise & Shine Stud Earrings (Set of 2) – $68
  • Mobile White® Advanced Teeth Whitening Kit – $89.99

My Pick:

Summer & Rose Cozy Robe - Retail Value $70.00

I was really, really tempted to select this robe for myself, but with it being so close to Christmas, I did make a few gifting choices in my assortment this month. This robe was one of them. My mom has been wanting a super plush robe for a while now, so I snagged this for her in the Plus size option. While this will be a gift, I still tried it on. It feels like wearing a cloud and it's just the right amount of oversized.

Here is a peek at the size chart:

I think this robe is really nice! It's more plush than I expected, has an extra long sash, has POCKETS, and the cream color makes it feel very luxe on. Though I selfishly wish I was keeping this one, I know my mom is going to absolutely love it.

Here is a shot of it on! For reference, I am a little under 5 fo0t 6.

Second choice item:

Choice 2 – All members get the chance to customize these options in their box.

  • Lilly Pulitzer Ceramic Mugs (Set of 2) – $42
  • Caudalie Vinosource Moisturizing Sorbet – $39
  • Murad® Rapid Collagen InfusionTM – $78
  • Algenist Complete Renewal Eye Balm – $68
  • Lucky Brand Solid Brushed Scarf – $65.50
  • Impressions Vanity Company® LED Vanity Mirror – $45

My Pick:

Lilly Pulitzer Ceramic Mugs (Set of 2) - Listed Value $42.00

This was another tough pick for me because I adore Caudalie! Again though, holiday gifting took precedence in this decision. I am originally from Tennessee and to say Lily Pulitzer is a 'thing' down there is a huge understatement. I have cousins with wardrobes that have to be 99% Lily! We generally do smaller gift exchanges during the holidays and these mugs are perfect for putting a cute bow on and gifting with a Starbucks gift card. I love the pretty blue design and the metallic bronze accented handle and little script inside make these feel extra special. I know these will be big gifting hits for sure!

Third choice item:

Choice 3 – All members get the chance to customize these options in their box.

  • ILIA Beauty Limitless Lash Mascara – $28
  • Laura Geller® Cinnamon + Spice Eyeshadow Palette – $45
  • dr. brandt® skincare pores no more® Pore Purifying Cleanser – $36
  • dr. brandt® skincare POREDERMABRASION® – $58
  • Lele Sadoughi Maroon Velvet Headband – $49

My Pick:

dr. brandt® skincare pores no more® Pore Purifying Cleanser, 3.5 fl oz - Retail Value $36.00

Ok, I decided to treat myself with this choice. I love, love, love cleansers and this one manages to be both refining and gentle. Sure, this isn't going to get heavy, heavy makeup off of your face without two passes, but the salicylic acid inside is a good reason to make this the second cleanser in a double cleanse routine. In addition to helping with acne, it also helps clean out pores which makes them look smaller. Salicylic acid is one of those ingredients that is incredible for both aging concerns and blemishes, making it a must have for most skin, especially if you are like me: in your thirties and suffering from both zits AND fine lines.

Fourth choice item:

  • kate spade new york Workout Socks (Set of 2 Pairs) – $24
  • MUK LUKS® Cabin Socks – $25
  • Voir Haircare Rhythm of the Rain – Hair Masque & Scalp Detox – $28
  • TULA SKINCARE Rose Glow & Get It Cooling & Brightening Eye Balm – $30
  • Flight Mode Skincare High-Altitude Hydration Mask – $39

(Annual subscribers get to pick their item. Seasonal subscribers will be surprised.)

My Pick:

TULA SKINCARE Rose Glow & Get It Cooling & Brightening Eye Balm - Retail Value $30.00

This was another 'me' pick. Hey, the whole box can't be gifts! I really like TULA and they make some fantastic eye sticks. This one has a very subtle pearl shimmer to it that serves to brighten the undereye while inside, goodies like caffeine, aloe, watermelon, rosewater, and rosehip oil add hydration and strengthen that delicate and often dull skin. The stick is super easy to use and adds instant coolness to my skin with just a few pats!

Fifth choice item:

Only Annual Members get to customize these options in their box. Otherwise, FabFitFun will choose the best option for you.

  • Beautaniq Beauty Guardian Angel Revitalising Eye Gels – $25
  • eparé® Cutting Board (Set of 4) – $19.95
  • dpHUE Apple Cider Vinegar Dry Shampoo Powder – $24

(Annual subscribers get to pick their item. Seasonal subscribers will be surprised.)

My Pick:

Beautaniq Beauty Guardian Angel Revitalising Eye Gels - Retail Value $25.00

Eye gels always go over well with me, and these are downright cute! This box has 4 sets inside, making them yet another great gifting opportunity/stocking stuffer. These gels have cucumber, rose extract, green tea, and hyaluronic acid inside meaning they sooth as well as hydrate. They also feel especially magical if you let them chill in your fridge for 30 or so minutes before using.

They look like little angel wings! (Yes, I am in my mom's robe. I swear she will end up with it though... maybe.)

Now that we've gone through all the choice options, all subscribers will get 3 additional items that FabFitFun picks for them.

FabFitFun will surprise you with three items from this category.

  • Whish Lip Scrub in Vanilla Bean – $20
  • Paradox Lucky Stars Blemish Patches – $18
  • B-Low The Belt Croc Card Case – $35

I received:

Paradox Lucky Stars Blemish Patches - Retail Value $18.00

Up until masks became a thing this year, I was living a mostly blemish-free life. But now I find myself with unwelcome spots that usually arrive along my jawline. These little stars are a way to make something ugly kind of cute! Simply apply a little star to the spot after washing your face and leave it on overnight. I tried these out on one particularly aggressive red bump and found that I totally noticed it was shrinking the next day. These stars have a blend of tea tree oil and calendula oil on them, and these two ingredients work together to nix those zits but still soothe the skin.

  • Daily Concepts® Daily Facial Dry Brush – $20
  • nOir Jewelry Ombre Leopard Scrunchies – $25

I received:

nOir Jewelry Ombre Leopard Scrunchies - Listed Value $25.00

I adore scrunchies and I am pretty into leopard print on accessories. This trio features three different shades of leopard print and each looks very chic. I would say that these are on the smaller end of of scale in terms of scrunchie fluffiness (if you want a big one, here is my rec) which works well around a clean ponytail or topknot. They were a little tight on my 6.5 inch wrists, but nothing that would stop me from using them. I expect they will stretch out a little over time too.

  • Aesthetica Liquid Eyeliner – $21
  • Londontown® Get Well Nail Recovery Treatment – $20
  • Phase Zero Makeup Making Moves Blusher – $27.50

I received:

Phase Zero Makeup 'Making Moves' Blusher - Retail Value $27.50

I had my fingers crossed for the blush. I really didn't want another black eyeliner!! Even though I am totally unfamiliar with this brand, I am very impressed with this blush. This shade is a golden shimmering peachy pink that I would imagine would flatter anyone. The pigment level is wonderful and it applied like a dream with a fluffier brush. I also love the minimal black compact and its built-in mirror.

Verdict: This box has a value of $210.95-$377.49 depending on which items you receive. My box totals around $273.50. With the holidays being so close, I have a lot of gifts I need to track down in the next few weeks and while I normally use my FFF box as a total treat to myself, I can't deny how easy it would be to "shop" this box for gifts. Sure, I did still end up with a lot of goodies for myself in here, but I also took care of a robe for my mom and some smaller gifts for my cousins that they will really like. This adds a lot of value to this box for me. If I had really gone into gifting mode, I probably could have also knocked out presents for a few other friends (Lele Sadoughi headband, Caudalie, and those Muk Luks!). I am quite pleased with the items I did select though and I am happy to scratch a few gifts off of my 2020 list while still gifting myself some great new goodies.

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? Yes! (You'll be able to make your product selections after you sign up.)

I love natural/vegan beauty products, Korean skincare, unique jewelry, and weird candies from far away places. When I am not waiting for my next exciting box you can find me painting or taking photographs of interesting people. I never leave home without pug hair somewhere on my shirt and a bold lipstick on my smile.

So I just got my box January 13th. It shipped November 27th…customer care was good, but I live in Atlanta, GA. I could have walked to FabFitFun HQ and have the box sooner than I did. But I don’t wanna talk about that.

The ROBE!!!! I feel like I’m hanging out in a teddy bear! I wish it was acceptable to wear these things in public because I never want to take it off!

I also got that wallet thingy, but I already have a wallet I like. And I’ll never use the eyeliner (fine motor skill issues). But the ROBE makes up for that.

Well – I received the winter box yesterday – I ordered when they had the $10 off and LP mugs as a gift. so really did not take too long to receive. I love everything in my box and it was packaged nicely! Got the blanket – sooo soft and cozy. Absolutely love the LP mugs (reason I ordered), the LED mirror, the facial brush (I love it actually), eyeliner – gave to my daughter, the cutting board mats are awesome – i needed some new ones anyway – we use those every day! The Pore cleanser and the muk luks cabin socks (wore them last night – so warm). Thrilled with the items! Thank you FFF!!!!!!

I just signed up because I wanted the blanket. I signed up as a seasonal member and yet it let me customize all 5 options.

What options are left to pick from?

My first FFF box and I have mixed feelings about all of it. I made my customized choices on the first day it was available for seasonal subscribers. I was excited and thought I was set! A few weeks later, they emailed me saying it was no longer guaranteed so I ended up with something I didn’t need. As for the surprise FFF items, I was not impressed at all. I received a face brush, an eyeliner and cheap card case. I would say you must LOVE the items you choose to be happy with the box. Don’t expect much value from the surprises at all. They’re dollar-store quality and nothing wrong with that, but it’s useless if you don’t use it. Sadly, I received items I won’t use. I would’ve loved the scrunchies (which I saw some people didn’t like) and clear nail polish. They should just let everyone pick b/c I’m sure there’s someone that could’ve used the items I received instead.

I picked the Tula stick for one of my choices and received the hair mask instead! Already reached out to the company through email but haven’t heard anything back in two days, had this ever happened to anyone else?

Be super careful with the mugs! I had not used mine, was preparing to hand wash, and I noticed a couple of chips on one. After reading about the decals coming off and chips from reviewers on the LP website, I’ve decided to use them for decorative purposes only. They are cute but I won’t be using for drinks.

I’m so disgusted with FFF. I ordered $130 of stuff from their Black Friday sale, obviously assuming it would be delivered in time for Christmas. I found out today that my items won’t be delivered until 12/23 at the earliest, which means I won’t be able to ship them to recipients. Now I have to go shopping, in a pandemic, and replace 11 gifts, in time to ship tomorrow. I’m absolutely furious. 2 chats and 2 phone calls, and nothing – they offered me a $15 credit. Everything else I ordered AFTER my FFF Black Friday order is already here, so no other retailers had problems like this. I haven’t been to a restaurant or grocery store since March, and now that the virus is really raging, I get to go shopping! Thanks, FFF!

I received and email with an offer to re-subscribe to Fab Fit Fun, They offered a free mystery bundle if I accepted, so I signed up. I received my first box in August or September, but no mystery bundle had ever been delivered. I called them. they were very nice and said they would check into it and send it out. I never received it and so I made another call. Again they were very nice and said they would send it and it never came. I received my second box. I have made 2 more calls, each time they are kind and say it will ship and arrive in 2-3 weeks. It never has, its been almost 5 months.
Just be aware that if you get offered a special, it looks very doubtful you’ll ever receive it.

That exact thing happened to me too! I am also extremely disappointed in this box. I just received it yesterday. The only 3 things out of the box I like are the robe(didnt get a choice for size, so a tad small) the led mirror and dr. Brant cleanser. I picked those though! The rest of the items look like samples! A Kind bar? Seriously disappointed. I’m canceling.

The presentation of this box was horrible. I was expecting a cute box with everything nicely arranged so I could give it as a present. All of the items were just thrown in horrible looking brown box and there was tons of brown paper filler in the box.
And why did they send me a Kind bar??? Seriously. I don’t want that. I did get the stupid face brush.
Throw that out. This was a one and done for me.

I was so disappointed in this box. it looked like a kindergartener had packed it and many others have said the same thing. The pride in their product and presentation has definitely slipped a ton. will be canceelling.

My box shipped the 16th and arrived today. For once, the FFF picks were ok. So glad I didn’t get the face brush 🙂

Is anyone else having trouble getting their box? I’m annual and I ordered add-ons. My boxed “shipped” November 13th and I’m still waiting. I’ve reached out to Fabfitfun 2x but I’m getting a standard “covid, delays” canned response. I’m starting to get worried that I’m not going to get this box in time for Christmas gifts or maybe at all.

Reply ButtonReply

Kirsten

My tracking has not updated since Dec. 3rd – it shows that USPS still has not received the item from the shipping parnter. I contacted FFF and all I got was a generic response that it was on the way. So upset right now, especially since it hasn’t even been transferred to USPS yet..

Reply ButtonReply

Cattlin

Mine did the same! Emailed finally got a response he said they would ship another one however it says shipped last Thursday….but no shipping updates on the tracking number. Just doing exactly what the first box did.

Reply ButtonReply

Leah

Looking at the forums on Fabfitfun it appears a lot of people are missing their boxes. (I still haven’t got mine.) Also, some are being told by customer service that replacements won’t be shipped until after Christmas because they are trying to get out the Black Friday and Cyber Monday orders they promised

Tat

Wish my box would show.

This was by far the most amazingly season appropriate box I have ever managed in 2 years. Unhide blanket, cozy robe, mukluks. I am usually a skincare/makeup junkie but man I’m loving this!

Reply ButtonReply

Daisy

I don’t know how I missed this review. Had I seen it before I made my selection, I would have added the robe for sure!! It would be a “blanket” that I wouldn’t have to share!

Reply ButtonReply

This site is definately quantity over quality. There’s so much junk that the good ones get lost. Especially if you don’t check their feed every 5 minutes.

I got my winter box today and it is such a good box! It’s like getting an early Xmas present. I love all the items in my box. The mugs are so pretty and bigger than what I was expecting which is great. The rob is soooo soft and plush, it feels like wearing the unhide blanket. I also love the muk luks and the lucky brand scarf. The only thing that I didn’t really like was the Vera Bradley cosmetic bag, it’s too small for my needs. Overall, a great box!

Reply ButtonReply

katie

Great review! Now I am thinking I should have added on the robe and the mugs. I am hoping I also get the scrunchies and the blush.

Reply ButtonReply

katie

I DID get the scrunchies and the blush👏.

Greta review, Megan! Where about in Tennessee are you from? I moved to Knoxville a few years back and quickly learned that Simply Southern tees, anything by Lily Pulitzer, and everything monogrammed is all the rage here.

I’m hoping the box comes in time for Christmas but I’m not counting on it. I have 2 annual subscriptions and will let them run out.

It will! They are not using FEDEX this season, finally. This shipper delivers fast.

My box came via FedEx 🤔 who are they supposed to be shipping through now?

Jan Zeldes

Hi, well first of all I am having a horrible day. Why? Because I had to cancel my fabfitfun subscription. I purchased 2 extra boxes as gifts for my children. Only one arrived and the items in it were awful. All choices that no one would pick and extras that came in my box, ie. The scrunchie.I know they say you can’t pick what is in it, but my disappointment with this box was upsetting. So, I called customer service, usually quite kind. Only this time when I explained what happened and what was in the box, I was told, you get what you get. No refunds, and would not let me return the box! Well for $40.00 it should at least have had a big item in there! So I canceled my subscription!!! No refunds, no returns! Very sad day. Word to the wise, don’t ever purchase an extra box. They give you the worst items and won’t let you return it!

Reply ButtonReply

Sarah

The $40 is priced specifically due to the fact that you can’t customize it. It’s also more likely that the uncustomizable box won’t have the really popular items (like the UnHide blanket, robe, or Murad), but there’s always a chance. I’m sorry that you didn’t understand that.

Ummmmm gorgeous fireplace! 🥰

Megan K.

Aww, thank you! We have a really, really old house with 6 fireplaces. None of which are functional because someone poured cement down them. I still appreciate their good looks!

Reply ButtonReply

T.Marie

Looking for a roommate with 3 teenagers 😂

Snow

Six fireplaces!?!? And of course they poured concrete down them (shaking my head.) I don’t think people realized how amazing the craftsmanship was back then, it just cannot be replicated! I absolutely swoon over old houses, thank you for sharing 💕

And of course the review was fantastic as usual. I love seeing the products modeled, which you always do! 🙌

Lana

Well, this pretty much solidifies that I do not want this box. First year that FFF failed to sell me anything, I usually get two boxes a year

Reply ButtonReply

Amanda P

How would you rate the quality of the mugs? What country are they made in?

Reply ButtonReply

Jodie

I’ve been drinking from the mugs all week. Look/feel great quality to me. I definitely would hand wash and not put them through the dishwasher.

Reply ButtonReply

Megan K.

Hi Amanda! They are made in China. I will say that the print doesn’t feel like a sticker at all. It feels hard, if that makes sense, and seems to be similar to other printed mugs I own. I imagine if you dishwash them it might be an issue over time, but I tried scraping off some of the print to see what would happen and I couldn’t make anything budge. They also have a nice weight to them and are oversized. Hope that helps!

Reply ButtonReply

Lana

If you look up reviews for the mugs LP carries on their website, they are awful. The print is a bad sticker comes off in chunks, including in people’s mouths. I don’t trust these, they look pretty much the same as what’s in their store except different picture on them.

Reply ButtonReply

Cynthia

The mugs are made in China. It’s on the box in one of the photos.

Reply ButtonReply

Izzie

Thank you for the timely review! I’m supposed to do my selection tomorrow when it’ll open for seasonal subscribers. Choice 3 is the selection that I’m still pondering. initially, I was thinking to pick the cleanser (nothing exciting, but definitely something I use twice/day). Then, I was thinking the scrub since it was something I can’t recall if I tried it before, but I considered that I like more a chemical exfoliation. After that, I was considering the headband – but not sure how comfortable it is for a big head and how often would I wear (like twice?) and would I be able to channel my inner Blair Waldorf? – so I guess I am back to the cleanser…

Reply ButtonReply

Alice

Its short. I watched the video at selection window. That’s why I didn’t choose it.

Reply ButtonReply

Cecilia

Could we get a full picture with the robe on?

Reply ButtonReply

Megan K.

Sure thing, Cecilia! Just added. 🙂
Just a quick reminder that I ordered the Plus version, which is at least 5 inches longer than the straight sizing.

Edited to add that I can’t match and its closer to 2 inches. 😓

Reply ButtonReply

Cas

I believe those measurements are in centimeters, so you are looking at about a 2 inch difference in length.
