September 2020 Petit Vour Review

Each box comes with a card detailing the items included, and the prices of the full-size versions.

Let's dive in!

KVoss Shine On Stick in 'Metallic Sunrise', 2.5 g - Retail Value $28.00

I tend to like KVOSS products and I also happen to enjoy a nice multi-stick too! The shade here is a warm pinkish-orange that reminds me of a vibrant sunset. The shade is certainly on the warmer side, but blending it out makes it work even on my more neutral skin. It is buttery smooth and delightfully shimmery without being too much. I think it looks really pretty as a sheer lid look and if you lean a little warmer than I do you might also like this as a highlighter!

Kind of tropical?

Goldfaden MD Needle-less | Smoothing Face Serum, 5 mL - Estimated Value $19.17 (buy a full size 30 mL for $115.00)

This is the sort of serum that just feels good to apply. It is a clear gel that is instantly cooling and hydrating as soon as it hits your face. It just takes a drop or two to get a nice layer in place and it sinks in quickly and without leaving anything behind. Inside is a formula containing hyaluronic acid, seaweed extract, and red tea extract that does a good job of plumping skin and adding in moisture. I still recommend using an actual moisturizer of some sort after this! While I think the reference to treatments that require needles might be a stretch, this is still a great product for adding extra moisture and firmness to skin.

Honua Skincare Pa'akai Cleansing Cream, 1 fl oz - Estimated Value $12.00 (buy 2 fl oz for $24.00)

This is one of those cleansers I really want to love, but it just never ends up being a favorite in my shower. It does feel nice on my face and it does an admirable job getting my skin clean, but it just is never my first choice. The ingredients are honestly great: witch hazel, seaweed, botanical extracts from roses, hibiscus, lavender, and sesame oil. This cleanser is almost tailor-made for drier skin like mine and I do always end up finishing off a small bottle. But I have never had the urge to actually purchase it.

Goldfaden MD Detox Hydrating Gel, 7 mL - Estimated Value $5.15 (Buy 50 mL for $68.00)

I absolutely LOVED this gel! Seriously, it's great. It isn't often that gels actually feel all that hydrating to my dry skin. But this one has some serious moisturizing power. It also boasts an ingredient list with a few of my favorite things like centella, hyaluronic acid, and salicylic acid. It is a nice bridge between hydration and acne-fighting, which is a good mix for me since 2020 has been the year where my dry skin is also experiencing a resurgence of spots.

The Seaweed Bath Co. Awaken Firming Detox Body Cream, 1.5 fl oz - Retail Value $4.00

I am going to admit that I just spent 12 hours in a car on a road trip and I mistakenly applied this to my face the first time I tried it. While I do not recommend this (it felt WEIRD) I do love it as a hand cream. As my Nana has never let me forget, hands age faster than anything else! I always try to keep mine soft and moisturized and this cream does a fantastic job of this. It contains seaweed, tea, and caffeine and has a very fresh and light scent.

Verdict: This month's Petit Vour box has a value of around $68.32, which is more than decent for an $18 box. While the contents were a little hit or miss for me this month, there was enough in here to make me feel this was a pretty decent box. I loved the Goldfaden duo and the multi stick. Though the cleanser isn't my favorite, the size is perfect for travel and the ingredients are stellar. Lastly, I am always happy with a new hand cream and the one included this month made my hands feel soft and look great.

I love natural/vegan beauty products, Korean skincare, unique jewelry, and weird candies from far away places. When I am not waiting for my next exciting box you can find me painting or taking photographs of interesting people. I never leave home without pug hair somewhere on my shirt and a bold lipstick on my smile.

My October 2020 box arrived and contained:

.5oz )Grace & Stella foaming wash,
French girl Neroli Eye Serum (4ml)
1 oz. Pacifica Water rehab cream
a tinted rose lip butter.

So different from Megan’s review box but all welcome… Its so funny that thinking that I was getting the Pa’kai.. I threw my extra deluxe sample in the box I mailed my niece this morning. That will teach me .. lol.

Low-key jealous of that French girl Neroli Eye Serum. Did you like it? Does it smell amazing?

I received same products as you in my October box and loving all of it! This review for Megan is the September box. There have been variants lately (which I think has to do with how long you have been subscribed) but I have received no repeats in the 18 months I have had this subscription (18 dollar a month regular, not PLUS). I actually like that there have not been spoilers. I love the surprise and am never disappointed with this sub. Best and most reasonably priced cruelty free beauty box with mix of makeup, skincare, hair care, personal hygiene products, etc.

Is this the Plus box? These are all repeat items…

My subscription is a newer one on a new account we opened, which might explain some of the repeats. I also wonder how heavily my beauty profile plays into these choices.

Why are these reviews so late? You are two months behind. The spoilers for last month were posted today. It’s not very helpful. Ideally a spoiler is for an available box. What gives?

Hey B! I can only review them as fast as I get ’em! PV ships mid-month for us and then the box has to be photographed and picked up. And since I have a pretty heavy queue, they sometimes don’t go up ASAP. We are also only able to post spoilers as we get them, and PV tends to spoil months significantly later than some other brands. Sorry for the wait and the confusion!

kate

How is she 2 months behind? PV never ships until after the 16th of the month.

B, I’ve never seen an early PV spoiler In 18 mos subbing,as they dont spoil on their website either. Megan, I love the richness and slip of the Pa’kai but for me, a morning cleanser, if I use one. I add the French Girl clay cleanser to punch up for a more thorough night cleanse though. I’m about to start a Honua skincare routine. Strange it feels for a tropical brand in an East fall season but this is where I’m at in “use or expire” rotation.. lol. For me, not so much repeats, as replenishments, since I generally am happy with the curated brands. Thank you Megan, for your review.

Thanks for reading Tanya! And for the tip to add some clay to that cleanser. Genius. And exactly what my poor maskne covered jawline needs right now.

B

I chose that date because PV told me you can subscribe until the 20th of the month and June was the last one in time. The December box was a punishment box – repeats and products I was allergic too – though the spoilers made it worse – I didn’t get what was spoiled, which weren’t repeats. After that I started pausing my boxes – you can skip before being charged & unskip before the box changes.

You raise a good point though – when I don’t know what’s coming I generally like the box when it arrives – spoilers can ruin that or make me not get something I would like. I get beauty heroes every month and a mute them on Instagram for the first of the month because my box comes day after it’s spoiled. PV is an “extra“ box for me, but, it’s good not to be cavalier about money. I recommended BH to my cousin & she was shocked I’d spend so much. I think it’s a good deal & it’s ok to not apologize for having the money, it’s just good to be grateful for what I have & remember others are struggling & try to help if we can.

Anyway, If I had to guess PV stopped releasing spoilers bc they switched from one box to variations. I’m curious about it from MSA POV.

Tanya M.

I went back and checked as well and to be exacting and specific.. I am billed on the 1st.. and the last early spoiler came March 2020, which seems tied to the pandemic shutdown. Perhaps asking Petit Vour for the reason they aren’t releasing spoilers to MSA or other bloggers might be the way to go. BUT IF YOU DO SUBSCRIBE MONTHLY, you will not know what you are getting and I don’t believe you can cancel after being billed. The earliest I spoiler I saw was October 3, 2019… after my October 1st billing so for me it is a “you get what get, don’t pitch a fit” subscription. For me, all subs are hit and miss, not just what you get but what will work for you…. I can take a chance but I do honor that it’s a big deal for others and didn’t mean to take it so lightly as I know an IPSY sub can be a financial treat for some people. I sub to PV and never know what is coming in the box before it is debited…. and with Beauty Heroes I don’t even know what is the box before it arrives!!! B, no big deal for me but honor that it can truly matter for you others. Apologies for the cavalier attitude.

B

I used to subscribe & I started bc of spoilers around March of 2019. There were at least partial spoilers until at least Jan 2020. I just did a quick look at MSA Old posts and there were spoilers in time to sub until June 2020. I wonder why they stopped?

Boxtopus!

Hi, B! I’m going to assume it’s shipping delays. Can you believe I’m not due to receive my Sept GlobeIn until Nov?? I just got an email today. :/

Reply ButtonReply

Boxtopus!

I don’t *think* it’s normal for GlobeIn. It’s my first box with them. They said in their email that they are switching warehouses and that’s contributing to the delays. As long as I eventually get it, I’ll be happy.

B

Does Globein usually ship late? I don’t think I could be patient! I’ve been fortunate only a day or two for delays. Spoilers wouldn’t be debated though. Aren’t getting shipped! I would have totally jumped on the October PV if the spoiler was posted just a few days ago when the box was available!

Boxtopus!

Great review, Megan! This was my first Petit Vour box, and I just opened it today. I’m excited about all of the items! I’ve used the Goldfaden MD Brightening Hand Cream, and I really liked it, so I’m looking forward to trying more of that line!

Thank you Boxtopus! Petit Vour was actually my first ever subscription back in maybe 2013? Not 100% sure on the year but it was a LONG time ago! This one holds a special place in my heart so I am glad you like it too. 🙂
