My Ipsy Limited Edition Staycation Mystery Bag Review

This yellow bag coordinates really well with the other travel-themed July bags.

Slmissglam Brush

I have received a few of this style of brush before and they are very cute. Almost too cute. The bristles are synthetic and have a white to pink ombre. This medium size would be great for anything from blush to highlighter!

Way of Will Invigorating Hand & Body Lotion, 1 fl oz - Estimated Value $3.50 (Buy a full-size 8 oz for $28.00)

FYI: This was a repeat from my May 2020 Ipsy Ultimate review. Here were my thoughts:

I really like this thick and moisturizing lotion, but the sample packaging makes it nearly impossible to use! The bottle is too hard to squeeze and the lotion itself is too rich to come out when you turn it upside down. I ended up using the end of a makeup brush to scoop some out which is less than ideal for sure. As far as the formula itself (the full size comes with a pump!) it feels great on the hands and has a nice citrus scent that Will and I both enjoyed.

Coloured Raine Cosmetics Eyeshadow in 'Champagne Life', 1.6 g - Full Size! Retail Value $6.99

FYI: This was very similar to a Coloured Raine shade I received in my October 2019 Ipsy review.

I liked the formula before and this is the same here. The shades are so similar though, I thought they were the same at first. Pigment levels are good and the smoothness is stellar! This was totally more of a finger application sort of deal for me personally though with a blending brush the fallout wasn't bad. The champagne shade is a little yellow but still super flattering.

Shimmery.

tarte SEA H2O Lip Gloss in 'Sail Away', 1 mL - Estimated Value $4.75 (Buy a full-size 4 mL for $19.00)

FYI: This was a repeat from my May 2020 Ipsy review. Here were my thoughts:

I am a lover of lip gloss anyways, but give me a super glossy one in a sweet natural pink? Done. I loved this gloss. 'Sail Away' has a slight cool berry look to it, but it warms up on my lips. The gloss is super shiny but still feels light and not at all sticky. The doe-foot applicator has two flat sides that grab up a perfect amount of product to coat my lips without multiple dips.

Still a big fan of this gloss.

Betty Boop x Ipsy Blink and Wink Mascara

FYI: This was a repeat from my October 2019 Ipsy review. Here were my thoughts:

I have conflicting feelings on this mascara because while it was a little clumpy, it did give my lashes loads of length. The clumps did comb out if I made a few passes, but I wasn’t wowed by the formula. If they could have made this clump-free with that sort of lengthening power, I would have been obsessed!

Half Caked Lip Fondant in 'Power Trip', 4 mL - Full Size! Retail Value $12.00

What a color! This deep red has a brick brown tint that is very fall chic. I am picky about matte formulas. They have to stay flexible on my lips or I just won't use them. This finish stays just a little soft and doesn't flake, making it great for people like me with drier lips. If you love the color but don't like matte, try this with a balm on top before passing it on to someone else. It works really well and creates a satin finish!

Verdict: I have mixed feelings on my Ipsy Limited Edition Staycation Mystery Bag. It felt like a few repeats (though, admittedly, October was farther away than it feels). For the $14 price, the value was still here, but none of these items were super, SUPER exciting to me, and I disliked seeing the mascara again entirely. I am happy to have more of that tarte gloss though! I think if you love a cheap mystery thrill, this was a really fun buy! If you don't like the idea of dupes though, you can probably safely pass this one.

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you order today? As of publication, this bag was still available! Double-check here to be certain.

Good to Know: Ipsy sends out variations. You may get a completely different bag than me.

Value Breakdown: At $14 for this box, each item has an average cost of $2.33.

I love natural/vegan beauty products, Korean skincare, unique jewelry, and weird candies from far away places. When I am not waiting for my next exciting box you can find me painting or taking photographs of interesting people. I never leave home without pug hair somewhere on my shirt and a bold lipstick on my smile.

I have been on and off with Ipsy for years. I cancelled a few months ago as I decided that $15/month could be used and/or saved for a purchase of one item I really need and will use.

I also think they are geared for a younger group.

Oooh this is a nice bag. If I ordered a mystery bag, I’m sure it would be craptastic. Hahahaha. I like everything in here and the colors.

This is the same version I received. I was completely happy with it! My only repeat was the Tarte gloss and I passed it on to a friend that loves it as much as I do

I felt the same way. Cute bag but I already had all the items or else didn’t need them. I’m jealous you got the tarte though. Would have made it worth it for me.

Lol, this morning I remembered I bought a couple of things from an Ipsy flash sale two weeks ago that I hadn’t yet received. Checked the tracking info and apparently the package has been sitting with DHL for ten days, with no movement. 🙄

ipsy GBP for July (of 2021?)… Twenty-two days in the sweaty arms of Pitney-Bowes. And counting. Not patiently.

Dea, I have an online department store return that is going through Pitney-Bowes and it has been over a month in transit and counting!

Ipsy introduced me to the Half Caked brand and I’ve really enjoyed the two products I’ve tried from them.

Mystery bags don’t follow your profile or reviews, like the monthly bag does. These are all just a grab bag = mystery. That is why you received some dupes. That’s always a risk with these, but usually still a great deal! I skipped this one but have bought many, over the years.

Lol this was advertised as a skincare mystery bag and everyone has just gotten makeup items. I learned my lesson with the Golden Hour bag a month or two back. A standard GB a month is plenty of mystery for me from Ipsy

Dea

Especially the mystery of WHEN it would actually arrive.
