Goddess Provisions “Desert Vision” July 2020 Review

The box comes with a short but informative booklet that outlines all of the items inside and discloses the theme!

Goddess Provisions Essential Oil Pouch – Listed Value $33.00

This little pouch is so cute! Made of 100% organic cotton and covered in peachy desert illustrations, it is a great bag for your essential oils. The inside is fully lined and there are 6 individual little sewn pockets to keep your vials safe while on the go. Even if you don’t travel with oils, this internal design is also perfect for stashing lipsticks and smaller makeup items.

Chicky Botanica High Desert Roll-On, 10 mL – Retail Value $25.00

I feel like I haven’t received an essential oil roll-on that has captured me as much as this one did in quite a while. It really does transport me to the California desert. The fragrance inside comes from a blend of sage, yerba santa, grapefruit, and cedar. The smell is smokey, powdery, and very herbal. I love it! It is a perfect little scent to stash in your purse or desk drawer for those moments you need to relax and transport your mind elsewhere. All of the oils inside come from hand-harvested and ethically wildcrafted plants.

Crystal Bar Soap ‘Desert Lover’ Bar – Listed Value $9.00

I love it when this box includes these beautiful soaps with a gem inside! They are so fun to use because they are pretty, and getting to the stone inside is always exciting. This soap is pale pink and has a rose quartz tumbled stone inside. It has a soft cedarwood scent and contains purifying kaolin rose clay.

Elana Gabrielle Desert Tapestry/Bandana – Retail Value $22.00

Since I have been working from home, I have taken extra steps to make my office look like someone cared enough to decorate it instead of it being some random room with a desk in it. The space also doubles as my little art studio, so creative and inspirational wall art is a good thing. This cotton tapestry is the perfect size for my wall, though it could always double as a bandana! I really like the minimal style of the desert illustration and the clever winding snake that forms a frame. It measures 21.5 inches across and tall.

Goddess Provisions Dry Brush – Listed Value $11.00

This might be my favorite item this month because I have been curious about dry brushing. I have pretty sensitive legs but they really need some stimulation and exfoliation. I grabbed my favorite body oil and applied it to my dry calves and then began slow and gentle upward strokes. It didn’t feel great at first (honestly it felt dry and weird) but I then started to like the feeling. I do this ritual every few nights now and include my thighs, arms, and neck. This brush is really well made and I can see it lasting quite a long time.

Sun & Swell Double Cacao Clean Cookie Bites – Buy 6 pouches for $20.00

This kind of speaks to how bad of an adult I am, but I never ever have snacks or a meal packed and ready to go for breaks at school. I feel like I just run from 8 am to 10 pm between work and school and I don’t have the time or the attention span. I have found that the snacks that arrive in my boxes end up being what I nibble on in the evenings and these were a real treat! They were sweet enough to kick my sugar cravings but also felt super healthy. While these would never be mistaken for actual cookies, I loved the thicker texture and chewy date recipe.

Desert Rose – Listed Value $3.00

I can’t even write about this little thing without getting Desert Rose by Sting stuck in my head. This is going to last for hours. Desert Rose is such an interesting little stone! They are usually the palest pink/tan color and truly do look like little flowers with crazy petals.

Digital Bonus: Desert Rose Meditation by Bridget Nielsen

First, I really don’t like that this meditation requires you to enter your email to access. You then have to go to your email to verify (and opt-in to a newsletter subscription), and then click another link to access the meditation. I mean, I totally did it for this review, but I don’t like it.

The video itself is a little under 30 minutes long. Half of it is a quick crash course on the elements and medicines of the desert. The last 20 minutes are a guided mediation outside in the desert. It is really very calming and pretty to watch the light and cloud shadows change throughout.

The Verdict: This month’s Goddess Provisions was all about the power and essence of the desert. I really liked the assortment this month! Lots of wins in here for me personally: dry brush, cute pouch, dreamy oil roller, snacks, I could go on. I thought the curation and quality of the items inside were both stellar and this is certainly one of my favorite GP boxes in recent memory.

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? No. This box has sold out. If you sign up today you will receive a mystery box with 7-9 items, a surprise mix of crystals, and fan-favorite items from past boxes.

Value Breakdown: At $33.00 for this box, each of the 7 items has an average cost of $4.71. I did not include the digital meditation in this calculation.

I love natural/vegan beauty products, Korean skincare, unique jewelry, and weird candies from far away places. When I am not waiting for my next exciting box you can find me painting or taking photographs of interesting people. I never leave home without pug hair somewhere on my shirt and a bold lipstick on my smile.

  1. Loved everything in this box. I can use everything, and it was beautifully curated. I also should mention that Goddess Provisions has outstanding customer service. If something is damaged, which doesn’t happen often, it will be replaced just by filling out a form. No photos are required, and you won’t get an odd or inappropriate response when you request a replacement — like Glossybox! In fact, I noticed a Sacred Rituals box promotion for new subscribers so I emailed, asking if I could purchase it. I could and just received it. It’s wonderful too. I can’t wait to see the tea cup and saucer in next month’s box!

  2. Such a well curated box to the theme with useful items! Best I’ve seen in a long time

  3. I was born and raised in Az.. I hate it there. I was born in Phoenix/Glendale and moved to Kingman. Its just dirt and mountains. It’s hot and I have scars from sun burns. I moved to Northern California. It’s green 🌷 I love it. Arizona’s like New New Mexico really. Lol.

This sub is awesome.. But icky dirt, sand and catus. Lol

  4. So sad I missed out on this box. I live in the Arizona desert and love everything in this box!
