Allure Beauty Box July 2020 Review

A handy booklet has all the product info inside.

OSEA Ocean Cleanser, 0.6 fl oz – Estimated Value $5.76 (Buy 5 oz for $48.00)

I double cleanse which means I go through a ton of cleansers. Osea is a brand I really like because they are very into using minerals and ingredients straight from the ocean, which means seaweed! My skin loves seaweed anything. Something about it calms my redness down and just makes my skin very happy. This formula combines my beloved seaweed with lactic acid, jojoba oil, and vitamin E. The box says this is ideal for normal, dry, and combo skin, but I think it would work well for almost anyone, TBH.

Beautaniq Beauty Butter Lip & Cheek Balm in 'Peach Blush', 0.14 oz - Full Size! Retail Value $16.00

I own so many 2-in-1 lip and cheek creams but they are some of my favorite products, so I really can't get enough. 2019 Megan really disliked cream cheek products, but, hey! Nothing about 2020 is normal or expected. This little glass pot has the prettier pinky-peach shade inside. It is on the harder side in terms of texture, which is good because it makes it difficult to accidentally take too much at a time. Just a few taps of this on the apples of my cheeks and I have a nice peachy glow that complements my (often ruddy) skin rather than just making me look blotchy. It works even better over a lighter coverage BB cream! I am also happy to report it's super cute on my lips, giving them that natural balmy look that is summery and fun.

Soft and peachy!

Dr. Jart+ Cicapair Tiger Grass Calming Gel Cream, 5 mL - Estimated Value $4.80 (Buy a full-size 50 mL for $48.00)

FYI: Subscribers will receive Dr. Jart+ Every Sun Day Mineral Sunscreen OR Dr. Jart+ Cicapair Tiger Grass Calming Gel Cream OR Sunday Riley Ice Ceramide Moisturizing Cream

I am obsessed with the Dr. Jart+ Cica line. It does wonders for my red face and dry skin! I tend to prefer the cream version of this product, but this gel is perfect for summertime and/or oilier skin. There is so much goodness inside this tube and this formula is a great balance between acne control, calming, hydrating, and anti-redness/soothing. The star for me is the Tiger Grass because it is a botanical that has been used in folk medicine for years to help with skin abrasions, burns, and other minor wounds. It is also great for eczema! As expected, it applies like a dream with a light and cooling sensation that absorbs fast. If you haven't ever tried any Cica products, I am so excited for you!

LAPCOS Charcoal Sheet Mask - Retail Value $3.00

Sheet mask time! I usually reach for hydrating or collagen masks, but I have severe maskne right now along my jaw. A charcoal mask seemed just the ticket to detox some of that grossness. This is a black charcoal-infused fabric sheet with loads of clear serum. It fit well, though it was messy because the serum kept dripping everywhere. It was still worth it. I left this on for about 10 minutes then removed, gently massaging the serum into my face and neck, and following with a nice moisturizer. I didn't see a huge difference immediately, but I hope I will be rewarded with less congested skin in the near future.

Avarelle Acne Cover Patches, 8 patches - Estimated Value $1.70 (Buy 40 patches for $8.50)

I have to laugh at this product because, again, 2019 Megan would have no need. But 2020 Megan's face is kind of a hot mess, especially on my chin and jawline. Sure, I hide it under a mask when I go out, but I still have to look at myself in a mirror sometimes. These little patches are genius because you can apply them and they are nearly invisible on your face. This pack came with a total of 8 patches in 4 different sizes. I applied one of the bigger ones to a particularly ferocious bump on my chin before bed and I was really pleased to see that monster was significantly smaller and much less red in the morning. Instead of going through the whole nasty cycle of it getting bigger before it peaks and then finally vanishes, this patch seemed to cut that whole process in half. The patches are covered with Cica (my love), tea tree, and calendula oil, so they zap a zit down while still calming the skin.

Verdict: This Allure box has a total value of around $70.26, and was legit one of my favorites in recent memory. Two full-sized items that I loved, helpful acne dots, a great cleanser, and a Cica cream? I loved this assortment. I am really happy to have a new bottle of that glass skin serum, and that alone is worth more than double the box cost. This month is an easy win in my book!

I love natural/vegan beauty products, Korean skincare, unique jewelry, and weird candies from far away places. When I am not waiting for my next exciting box you can find me painting or taking photographs of interesting people. I never leave home without pug hair somewhere on my shirt and a bold lipstick on my smile.

This box is great! I want to buy another one just for the serum

I usually love the Allure boxes and its products but this time I hated the SR Ice moisturizer. The color of the cream was yellowish instead of white and it smelled like stale lipstick. I couldn’t get past that to try it. It’s making me wonder if it’s usual for them to send us products past their prime

I really like the peach and lily serum.. I’m wondering if I should get another box from Amazon just for the serum.

Rachel

I was thinking about that myself. $15 is a great deal for a $39 serum. This was one of the best value in this months box for sure. I also liked the lip + cheek balm, the seaweed cleanser and the Dr. Jart Cica.

I am very pleased with my Allure beauty box subscription. They always have a good assortment of products to try (especially skin care) and I must admit that I have become hooked on several items from past boxes that are now part of my skin care or make up routine. This box in particular is awesome. I also like that I can sub this through Amazon because of how easy it is to skip a month if I need to and the fast shipping. Though, Allure has great customer service and when I have subbed through them, they were very pleasant to deal with. 5 stars!!! ⭐️

I received my Allure box today, but mine had the SR Ice moisturizer and a ND full size single shadow (I thought that was only for newbies, but hey! I’m not complaining I love her shadows 🥰) I was thrilled with this month and love everything I received.

I also had something weird with my shipping like others have mentioned. My boxed shipped 7/11 with a delivery date of 7/14. That day came and went and then my box was shipped “by accident” to an entirely different state.

On 7/18 it was “out for delivery” and showed up on my doorstep today.. who knows! That has never happened to me before!

This was a fantastic box I always like Allire but this months I loved it!!

I love Allure! Even if you don’t like everything in the box, they always have a full size something making it well worth the price. I am loving the lip and cheek stain, its a great color for my skin tone. I’m finishing up the serum from last month or the month before and then will crack open the P&L!

I hope you like the serum as much as I did! 🙂

Loooove this box! I have 2 subs & and am so glad to spend $30 on 2. Allure is my favorite beauty box, hands down. Order through Amazon so you can add & delete each month depending on how much you like the box or not. The only down side to Allure is ordering through them or dealing with customer service. Wouldn’t it be awesome if they were set up like Ipsy. Go to an actual site that’s interactive, easy and to be able to add input, reviews… participate in some community. Jmo

Mine shipped 13 days ago, hasn’t moved in 8 days and stock in Illinois.. I’m one state over ( Michigan).. horrible

Reply ButtonReply

Tiffany

Mine was supposed to be here July 15. It’s been in my state since then but hasn’t moved in 11 days and counting. I contacted Allure, and they said since it had been shipped, it was in USPS’s hands, and I would get it eventually.

Grace

Same! Mine shipped on July 10, and has been sitting in cincinnati since the 13th. Basically 2 weeks at this point. Ridiculous. Though my tracking number says arrived in Cincy, I physically went to usps as Allure suggested, and their official tracking shows departed on the 13th, though they couldn’t tell me why it hasn’t arrived anywhere in the past 2 weeks… I’m convinced it’s lost. I’ve never seen that happen. I called allure again on Friday, and they are sending me another box, so hopefully I actually get this one!

Pbm

That is a long time to wait. Unfortunately, there is still a pandemic going on and there is bound to be delays.

Christina F.

USPS is experiencing a lot of problems lately! But that’s not Allure’s fault. I have been waiting for a package (from someone else) that shipped out on the 8th of this month. Still nothing.

Ashley B

I already subscribe through allure but can I get a second box through Amazon?

Reply ButtonReply

Redwoods301

You can actually order multiple boxes from Amazon!

kate

yes. amazon is sending out this exact box.

Jacki

You sure can. It works a little differently since it bills and ships according to when you sign up. So you would always get a box late in the month. The only way to move your date up is to cancel that subscription and resubscribe early in the month. Although, with a subscription late in the month, you can try your box and decide whether you want a second one that month. You can skip a month through your Amazon account, which is nice.

Coco1

I re-subbed through Amazon after your review, Megan. The serum, cleanser, and Dr Jart alone make it well worth it.

Megan K.

I need to just buy the whole Dr. Jart + cica line. Its SO good! Enjoy your box! 🙂

How long did it take folks who ordered from Amazon to get their box? I placed my order on the 15th, it shipped the 16th, and has been stalled in PA since. I am being given an estimated arrival time of anywhere between the 31st and the 10th – 10th! – of August. Over three weeks! Is anyone else experiencing similar issues?

Reply ButtonReply

Sarah V

Mine was almost the same exact thing. Ordered a second box through amazon and shipped but then didn’t move for a long time and it randomly finally showed up yesterday! So I imagine everyone else’s will too

Reply ButtonReply

Nat

Got mine through Amazon about 1 week ago

Reply ButtonReply

Deanne

Yes I am, it’s scheduled for Aug 8-14! Absolutely crazy.

Reply ButtonReply

Cheryl Zaccone

If you subscribe now do you get the July box or August?

Pink5

Box twin, which is odd.

I’ve tried the Osea cleanser. It’s nice.

Alice

This was a fantastic box. Last year I dropped Birchbox to pick up Allure and have been so pleased. It’s such a value.

Reply ButtonReply

Mel

I bought from allure but did not get the dr jart instead i got sunday riley. I like them both so no complains aside it took forever to ship to my house. I may cancel allure and subscribe through amazon.

Reply ButtonReply

Mireia

I got this same box variation through Amazon & I am super happy with it.
I have used retinol but no other “serums” because they always just sit on my face & I hate it!
I tried to use the Sunday Riley CEO Vitamin C & Tumeric but it NEVER got soaked up by my face.

I was hesitant with the Peach & Lily but it seriously was absorbed & was able to apply my moisturizer afterward 😀

I love it!!!

Reply ButtonReply

Charlotte

The Sunday Riley Vitamin C & Tumeric is an oil and should be applied as the last step in your routine, after your moisturizer. (I personally only use oils at night because you’re right, they don’t soak into your skin.) It’s not a serum.

Reply ButtonReply

Caroline

This was my first month and I was pretty happy with everything but the lip/cheek balm, which is a shame because the packaging was cool. I wish I didn’t like the Osea so much given the price tag but it even smells amazing.

Reply ButtonReply

Dawn

Just FYI, the full size version of the OSEA cleanser comes in the Birchbox Clean 2.0 box. That’s $65 instead of $48, so maybe it doesn’t help at all, but that box comes with 10 other products, many of which I liked. If Birchbox runs another sale, it might be worth checking out.

Reply ButtonReply

Jenny M

That Birchbox clean beauty box was one of the best purchases I ever made, I have found so many holy grail items from that one box. I’m seriously considering buying another, if it ever goes on sale I don’t think I’ll be able to resist!

Alison

do you use the jart gel in place of a serum or moisturizer? Under them? I got this sample and I am not sure how to use it.

Reply ButtonReply

Megan K.

Hey Alison! I like to use it as a really light moisturizer. It’s great for summer, especially during the day, at least in my experience. They have a cream version that is STELLAR if you need something heavier!

Reply ButtonReply

Pink5

I would recommend checking the Dr. Jart website.

Reply ButtonReply

Jody

I tried the Osea cleanser this week and really liked it. The scent was not too strong for me and no lavender in site!
I am eagerly awaiting to try the serum. I just opened the cherry Farmacy one and have some others almost gone.
The peach shade is a bust for me. I got the Sunday Riley cream which I have had before.
What an awesome box.

Elle

Can anyone confirm what’s in the Amazon box?

Reply ButtonReply

Break

I got the Amazon version and everything in this review was included in mine.

Reply ButtonReply

Randie

It’s the same variation as reviewed.

Reply ButtonReply

Elle

Thank you!

Flora

Yep, I ordered from Amazon for the glass serum and got this exact box.

Dea

Solid box! I got the Dr. Jart sunscreen, which is AMAZING to me. It’s very much like the Murad Essential C sunscreen, but costs less. My new wish list item! Overall, everything will be used completely. I agree with the earlier posters who said that this is the best under-$20 beauty sub in terms of what I get out of it. Just awesome.

Reply ButtonReply

DEbby

I always enjoy this box. You can’t beat it for 15.00.

Reply ButtonReply

Jenn

Came here to say how much I LOVE LOVE LOVE the osea cleanser and the peach and lily serum!! Both are part of my daily and I was so hyped to see them both featured in this box! It was an excellent value for me… I bought 3!

JEM

Received mine today.

This is the best cheap beauty sub out there. Really the best value for your money.

I received the sunday riley ice, which I’m thrilled about since I did not select it for my ipsy bag.

Reply ButtonReply

Izzie

I got that too ordering via Allure. my understanding is that is more of a winter type of moisturizer- I’ve never tried it though.
