The Detox Box is a green beauty subscription box from The Detox Market that costs $55/month. You'll usually receive 2-3 products from a featured brand each month that follow their strict ingredient standards and help you discover non-toxic ways to continue your beauty routine. What I love about this subscription is that I can try popular and undiscovered brands alike at a really good value!

FYI - COVID-19 Update: You can read about how The Detox Market is addressing shipping delays and other adaptations during this time right here.

This box was sent to us at no cost for review. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes.)

The Detox Box June 2020 Review

With this month's Detox Box, I received an info card that highlights all of our items this month from the brand 100% Pure. Let's get started, shall we?

100% Pure Coffee Bean Caffeine Eye Cream, 8 mL - Retail Value $16.00

I got a tube of this eye cream back in October and loved it! It is a really great eye cream and the price is really affordable. Inside is loads of eye awakening caffeine and antioxidants from green tea. These ingredients paired with rosehip seed oil and vitamin E give my under eye instant life and hydration! There is just the slightest coffee scent but it is balanced out by the creamy botanical elements and is very mild. Just a few taps of this under my eyes is all I need, so this will last quite a while.

100% Pure Bright Eyes Mask, 5 pack - Retail Value $30.00

Dang! My eye area is getting the special treatment with this box. This box set of 5 hydrogel mask pairs is going to be perfect for these hot days since I like to stash eye gels in the fridge. These are loaded with caffeine and aloe water that your skin absorbs as you wear them, hydrating and plumping that delicate area of your face. I like to save these for the morning to really give me a bright-eyed look when I haven't had enough sleep or I am just looking a little worn out.

100% Pure Vitamin C Serum, 1 fl oz - Retail Value $42.00

Vitamin C is such a superstar for any skin routine. It helps even out skin tone and promotes collagen production which is a must for anyone who is conscious about anti-aging. I personally find it quite brightening! This serum also has aloe for hydration and fruit antioxidants to protect against aging free-radicals. Just a little pump is enough to cover my face and neck, so this bottle will be around for a long while. It feels really nice on my skin and is the perfect step after cleansing and toning, but before moisturizing. This is more of a long-term use for benefits type of deal, but everyone should have some vitamin C in their rotation!

Long Last Liquid Eye Liner in 'Black Tea', 7 mL - Retail Value $30.00

What a pretty eyeliner! I know it is hard to get super excited about a black eyeliner for a lot of us, but this one does feel very fancy and special. The formula itself is actually pretty fantastic! It literally wouldn't budge from my skin. I had to use an oil cleanser to get it to come off. It is also a nice bold true black, so if you have been looking for a more natural eyeliner for your bag, this is worth your time. The only real downside here is that the formula isn't the quickest to dry.

The finish is a little shiny after it totally dries.

Fruit Pigmented Ultra Lengthening Mascara in 'Black Tea', 10 g - Retail Value $26.00

I have tried this brand's mascara before and I think if you like a more natural tinted look rather than in-your-face drama, you might like this as much as I did! The brush style is slightly twisted and manages to grab my lashes really well, coating them in black and giving them a little upward curl too! This formula also stayed put all day without flaking. Loved it!

Verdict: This month's Detox Box was full of 3 skincare items and two makeup selections. I really, really love the 100% Pure lipsticks, so I kind of wish one had been included, especially as I would have used a lip product more than an eyeliner. Regardless I am pretty happy with this selection, though I will say that these items do tend to pop up often in other subscriptions that cost less. If you are new to the 100% Pure brand, this will be a really good discovery sort of box for you, though if you already have a decent selection in your stash, you might have found this assortment a little underwhelming. These three products have a combined retail value of $144 which is a good value for a $55 box. I am hoping that next month might be a brand feature that is newer to me!

I love natural/vegan beauty products, Korean skincare, unique jewelry, and weird candies from far away places. When I am not waiting for my next exciting box you can find me painting or taking photographs of interesting people. I never leave home without pug hair somewhere on my shirt and a bold lipstick on my smile.

Ooh that is a very poor reply from RMS. It doesnt even sound to be anything along the lines of “sorry we were taking time to process current events”

I enjoyed the curation of this month’s box (but I’m also one of those guys that basically loves everything I receive in boxes, lol). For those that were disappointed in this month’s featured brand, I read that this month’s box was actually supposed to include RMS Beauty, but The Detox Market changed it due to the recent controversy involving the brand. Since it seems they already had this line up with 100% Pure good to go, I’m wondering if the 100% Pure box was supposed to be July’s box or a future box. I did notice that the card included in this month’s box was different than the two set of cards they typically include, so there may have been a rush in producing it.

I used the eye mask this past weekend, and I was a bit bummed that I wasn’t super wowed by it as I was expecting to be considering what I’ve read about it. They kept slipping down on me, so I had to keep pushing them up, which is a huge pet peeve of mine when it comes to eye masks, plus I didn’t notice any difference in the appearance of my under-eyes, although they did feel nicely moisturized…. which now that I write this is all I usually expect from eye masks, so I guess I shouldn’t complain too much, lol. It’s always an added bonus if it alters the appearance of my under-eyes for the better. 🙂

I’m still really excited to try the eye cream, as I’ve mostly only heard great things about it, and I’ll always take another mascara & serum in a box, lol. I gifted the eyeliner since I don’t wear eyeliner, and its recipient couldn’t have been happier to have received it. 🙂

I would have so. So. So. So. Much rather received RMS. I had a really bad experience with 100% pure years ago and have avoided their products like the plague ever since. When a product is this cheap, corners are being cut somewhere – whether it’s sourcing/ingredients or labor/manufacturing or whatever else.

I unsubbed. And imo detox made a bad move by swapping.

I don’t know about the controversy. Will you share where you read about that & the possible skipped BB? Thanks!

They were asked why they hadn’t made a statement in support of BLM, while a lot of other brands had, and in part, their reply was, “…. In all fairness, we did not know there is an expectation date for showing support and our team will be in the office Monday 9:00 EST….” The tone of the reply didn’t sit well with a lot of people so they got a ton of backlash over it.
