Gramma in a Box "Butterflies and Blossoms" May 2020 Review

Each month we receive a card that highlights the theme and lists the contents of our box which includes two sheets of wax paper that serve as placemats to make for easy cleanup. The three projects all come on individual recipe cards that list the ingredients on the back. The directions are easy to follow and any important information is highlighted in red which is always helpful. This month our theme is "Butterflies and Blossoms," which I knew my daughter would love!

Project #1: Pretzel Butterflies

Our first project was to make pretzel butterflies using melting chocolate, pretzels, pretzel sticks, and some rainbow sprinkles. This month my daughter and I worked together for our pretty spring treats.

The first step is always to melt the chocolate in the microwave for a minute and stir it up. My daughter separated out our pretzels for us. A few of the sticks didn't survive the journey, but we were still able to separate out 6 butterflies, some just had shorter bodies.

We dipped the ends of each of the pretzels into the chocolate and then stuck them to the side of the pretzel stick. Then we sprinkled a few of the rainbow sprinkles on top and put them aside to set.

They turned out pretty cute! The pretzels were a tad stale, but luckily the chocolate masked the texture well! We always love chocolate covered pretzel treats.

Project #2: Marshmallow Flower Pops

Our next project was to make marshmallow flower pops using the leftover melted chocolate, colored mini marshmallows, and some lollipop sticks.

We set out our sticks and then I added a dollop of chocolate to the top of each stick and my daughter added some mini marshmallows to form flowers.

She was supposed to use 5 marshmallows for each flower, but she used a bit more so we had to improvise with some marshmallows we had on hand for our last flower pop since we ran out.

These were cute too, and while I'm not a huge marshmallow fan, the kids loved these!

Project #3: Spring Cookie Decorating

Our last project was to decorate our cookies. We received some pink, blue, and purple icing along with some fun colorful spring sprinkles and purple and blue sprinkles.

There were 8 cookies; 2 large butterflies, 2 large cottages, and 4 small flowers.

We were both in decorate mode so I completely forgot to get a photo of my daughter working on hers! Can you tell I had fun this month? The cookies are always good. Not too sweet, and once the icing sets, I think they are even better!

Here is our finished plate of treats. We had 6 pretzel butterflies, 6 flower pops, and 8 cookies!

Clean up is always so easy when we're done. I recycle all of the plastic inside the box it all came in and then I just had to wipe down our table!

Verdict: My daughter and I had some fun with this month's Gramma in a Box Butterflies and Blossoms treats! It's so nice getting to spend some quality time with my kids without the hassle of planning, buying the ingredients, baking, or cleaning up! We open the box and go and get to be creative while doing something fun together. It's a cute little homemade box of fun with some sweet treats to enjoy afterward. It's a great box for quality family time for only $20/month box!

I am a homeschooling mom to 4 kids; 1 girl and 3 boys. While I have been reviewing boxes since 2018 and I love the luxury of trying new products, I'm also balancing it out by dabbling in a little bit of homesteading, too. We now have 4 chickens and a rabbit and my sourdough starter is going strong! I love learning about new brands and sharing the great things I find with others in hopes that they find something new to love or to fit their needs!
