GlobeIn is a monthly artisan subscription that sends you original home items created by global artisans. Each box contains handcrafted items from around the world and the stories of the artists who made each piece.

GlobeIn offers one new theme every month. They also have 3-5 best-selling theme boxes that they restock each month. Users have from the 1st to the 10th of the month to make their theme choice. If you don't choose by that date, GlobeIn will send you a random box based on what's in stock. They do guarantee that you won't receive a duplicate theme!

FYI: This month's "Savvy" theme is available to subscribers as a May option!

This box was sent to us at no cost for review. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes).

GlobeIn April 2020 "Savvy" Box Review

Each box from GlobeIn contains a booklet that talks more about the theme for the box and the items inside. This little booklet is almost as valuable to me as the items inside the box, because it gives background on each piece and often includes names and photos of the artisans behind them. I absolutely love knowing more about the products and the hands that crafted each item.

Time to check out our handmade goodies. Just a heads up, since there aren't prices listed in the booklet for the items, I'm going off the prices given in this GlobeIn spoilers post for items I couldn't find online.

Moroccan Market Bag, Morocco - Listed Value $50.00

Measurements: 12.5" H x 11" D. 19.5" W (top), 10" W (bottom).

Materials: Palm Leaf

I kind of have a woven basket obsession, and for me, this falls under that category even though it is technically a bag. One of my recent projects was actually turning a massive seagrass basket into a pendant light for my bedroom. While this large bag would make a really incredible option for a beach or farmer's market (one can dream, right?) this one will be making a cameo as a beautiful vessel for one of my medium-sized fiddle leaf fig trees. The fig below is in a 1-gallon black nursery bucket, so you can see that this basket is really roomy!

I love looks like this. If you want to turn one of your fave baskets into a new home for a favorite plant, I recommend buying a cheap clear plastic pot saucer that fits inside so you can water your plants in the basket if you wish and they won't get wet and ruined. These are usually about a dollar and I have loads of them in different sizes so I can experiment.

Johanna Keychain, Nepal - Listed Value $8.00

Measurements: 8 inches long

Materials: Felted balls and metal finishings.

This keychain is really quite cute! It would be adorable attached to a purse for some fun and lighthearted vibes. I love the texture of the felted wool and the pastel color palette is a win for me.

Copper Water Bottle, India - Listed Value $30.00

Measurements: 9" H x 3" W.

Materials: Copper

Anyone else out there love drinking cold water out of a metal cup or bottle? Is it just me? Probably. This copper water bottle is very pretty, and totally unique among my collection of BPA-free plastic options. The screw-on cap has a leak-proof gasket so your beverage of choice stays inside after you toss this in your purse or bag.

Sophie Viscose Scarf,  India - Listed Value - $25.00

Measurements: 70" H x 28"W.

Materials: 100% viscose

Finally, our last item is a colorful floral scarf. If you read my reviews at all, you know I love florals! This is covered in a beautifully done abstract style with bright colors on a navy background. It is also the type of scarf that is light enough to be great for springtime, but large enough to still provide some warmth.

The Verdict: GlobeIn had 4 really great items this month. My fave? Obviously, my new woven shopper that is moonlighting as a plant pot. Very into it! I also thought the keychain was cute, the water bottle was unique and well designed, and the scarf is right along my sort of pattern. I really enjoyed this box.

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? Yes, this box is available in May as well!

You need to choose your theme by the 10th of each month or they will select one for you. From GlobeIn:

We'll always try our best to send you the new theme, but it's not a guarantee. To ensure that you know what you will receive, you can choose your own theme from the 1st-10th of the month.

To be eligible for the current month's shipment, please subscribe by the 15th of the month. Premium Boxes typically start shipping around the 18th-21st of every month (the exact day boxes go out varies since our boxes are shipped in batches).

  • Example: If you subscribe on November 14th, your first box will be the November Premium Box. Please note that if you subscribe from the 11th-15th, you will automatically receive a Surprise Theme for that month's Premium Box. Add-ons are not available during this time, but you'll be able to choose add-ons from the 1st-10th for your next box.

  • Example: If you subscribe on November 16th, your first box will be the December Premium Box. Please note that you can choose your theme and add-ons between 1st-10th of the upcoming month.

Value Breakdown: At $50.00 for this box ($40.00 + $10.00 shipping), each of the 4 items has an average cost of $12.50.

I love natural/vegan beauty products, Korean skincare, unique jewelry, and weird candies from far away places. When I am not waiting for my next exciting box you can find me painting or taking photographs of interesting people. I never leave home without pug hair somewhere on my shirt and a bold lipstick on my smile.

I am looking for a new subscription box and I was initially super excited about this one. I read a bunch of recent reviews saying people didn’t get a box and that customer service was impossible to reach. But most places give this over 4 star reviews. Did something change in the management and should I avoid this box?

Aesha,
Me, too. I am subscribed for three months. The “Savvy” Box is my May Box, but it’s obviously back-ordered. I don’t know when I will receive it. On the FB Mavens group, people are just now getting some March, and a lot of April boxes, yet MSA is receiving theirs completely up to date, which brings in subscribers like me. I found customer service very nice, actually, and very responsive. It doesn’t matter how nice they are, though, if the products aren’t shipped. Hopefully, it is just a blip and a result of the pandemic. It is unfortunate that I think a lot of people and companies (to be clear, I’m not accusing this company) are just chalking everything up to Covid 19. Very often, it has played a part in slowing everything down. Wish they could just make it all go away. Not a fan of this new normal.

Yea I was hoping to get this as a nice summer pick me up in light of this new normal. Maybe I’ll just get one month right now and see how that plays out. However I’m also reading some issues with billing and I don’t want to be charged multiple times

Ashley

Has anyone still not received their April box as of yet? I should be getting the “Gala” box, the last of my three month sub. I have emailed several times, the first about two weeks ago and they replied there was delays due to Covid. Since then, it’s been nothing but crickets. But they continue to keep emailing me advertisements and sign up deals, so it’s got me a little worried that I may never receive it.

I just got my April box. I got the “Glam”. Worth the wait…

Sign up for their Mavens Rewards FB page and 😮 wow, that will answer your question.

I’ve tried to sign up and have not yet been approved – what’s the hold up? (I also still have not received my April box, and am only seeing the generalized C-19 delays message on their site).

Jenn

I was so excited for this and signed up based off these posts. However I just saw online a ton of reviews saying how people don’t receive boxes, it’s a bait and click scam, and it’s impossible to cancel. Some people even claim it debits money from their accounts. Has anyone had this experience? Now I’m pretty nervous

That’s what has been happening lately but us isn’t typical for them and their customer service is usually excellent. I haven’t gotten my April box but I am going to give it the benefit of the doubt based on the current situation.

I wish I could still get this box! I love everything. I thought about getting a second subscription. I can’t see what May boxes are left until I pay so I won’t do it.

When or how do you choose the box that you want? I’d be unhappy to want a particular box that is in supply and get a different one because I skipped a step.

Reply ButtonReply

Julie

You do have to login at the beginning of each month and select the box you want. Otherwise you get a mystery box. You can also choose to skip a month (your subscription just gets bumped forward) or get credit for add-one for the next month. Most subscription boxes have a “selection” period to pick out what you want so it isn’t too different.

Can anyone tell me how long are the handles on the purse?

That scarf is so pretty! It’s sold out in add-ons but hopefully it will show back up in a future add ons or sale. I will definitely pick this one up if so.

I thought it was really colorful and cheerful, which I totally needed right now!

You could make a big Moscow Mule (or Kentucky) and drink from it all day long, in the nice copper water bottle . . .😝

Is it possible to delete my comments? So inappropriate!

Ooooh Beth. This idea is too dangerous to read on a Monday morning!

How big of a Moscow Mule could one make with this bottle? Ounces? Asking for a friend… :p

I also really like what you have done with the basket. I like everything in this months box. I have that little knick knack dog and a picture very similar to the one hanging above your table too:)

Thanks Katie! Love that there is another friend on here with such excellent taste 😉
