Bump Boxes April 2020 Review

Each box comes with an info card detailing the items included and expressing the overall theme of the current month’s box, but my April Box was actually missing it this month.

BumpLife Wooden Massage Roller – Retail Value $12.99

I love a good massage roller, but unfortunately this one didn’t work very well. I think the main problems with it are that the balls don’t roll very smoothly (they catch and squeak instead of a good smooth roll), and the overall design of it. I found the handle comes so far down between the roller balls that if you press it against someone’s back, the handle actually touches their back and kind of digs in while you try to press and roll.

BumpLife Mug

This mug is coated metal. The phrase on it is cute: “coffee, chaos, and cuddles.” That’s definitely an accurate summary of my days as a mom of 3 small children. I love mugs, but I’ve never used a metal one like this before. At first I wasn’t sure about how useful it would be for me with its small size, but I have some 5 oz/cappucino-size Nespresso pods and they would work perfectly in this.

Daily Concepts Daily Body Scrubber – Retail Value $10

I can always rotate in a new body scrubber. This one lathers really well and feels like a good, gentle exfoliation. I thought it was smart that they have a tag on it that says “replace me when writing fades” to indicate when it’s time to swap out body scrubbers to keep it hygienic!

Glow Organics Energize Body Lotion, 8 oz – Retail Value $12.99

This lotion smells great! It has lemon, orange, and grapefruit essential oils in it for a mood boost and is made with sweet almond oil, argan oil, and aloe vera! It’s very refreshing and felt hydrating without feeling filmy or sticky.

Timeless Beauty Bar Up in the Clouds Sheet Mask – Retail Value $5

This mask is meant to be deeply hydrating, nourishing, and plumping. After using this once, I do think it was very hydrating and my skin felt very happy afterwards. Definitely a nice, soothing mask to treat my face with.

Verdict: This month’s Bump Boxes delivery was a good curation of things that all felt like nice self-care items. I’ll use everything except for the massage roller – I’m really disappointed that it felt really low quality and doesn’t work well because a good one would have really made this box for me. My favorite item is the face mask! I’m thinking of ordering more because it was really nice on my tired, dry skin. My box was missing the info card this month, so I can’t speak to the value that Bump Boxes claims for this month, but the retail values I could find total to $40.98. If I had to guess the value of the mug, it would be around $10 because it’s not yet available online.

As a general note about this box and value, I’ve noticed the listed values on the info card tend to be inflated compared to the retail values offered directly from the brand. Bump Boxes offers a shop on their website and some items from their boxes are available there for purchase, but I’ve found that they’re usually listed for a couple of dollars more than they are straight from the brands, so maybe the values they list on their cards are taken from their own website’s shop prices. I’ve also felt on a few occasions that the value of proprietary or exclusive items is listed higher than what I personally feel it should be, though if it’s an exclusive item to Bump Boxes I suppose they have that right to price it how they like. All that being said, because my box was missing the theme/info card this month that’s usually included, I can’t specifically say that this box value is less than they claim, but that was the case last month.

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? Your box may look different than mine depending on how far along you are in your pregnancy journey.
