Society Socks Men’s Review March 2020

This month, Society Socks joins organizations around the world asking everyone to “flatten the curve.” To do its part to help during the COVID-19 situation, the company is donating $1 for each subscription to support the W.H.O.

Okay, onto the socks. Each month, subscribers receive two pairs of socks each featuring Society Socks’ own designs. Usually, one pair will have a quirkier design and the other will be more abstract. All Society Socks pairs are made with an 80% cotton, 15% spandex, 5% elastane blend. There’s no extra cushioning on the sole, so they’re more like formal socks in that regard. The socks, which I have modeled this week (Hello Kristin—thanks for your helpful comment last month!), come up around 2/3 to my knee. I am 5’9″.

Sunny Dot Socks

These sunny socks with dual-color polka dots brought a little brightness to repetitive days of staying at home. I think they’re great for giving folks a flash of happiness with their bright yellow hue and the array of colored dots—but at a safe distance, of course. The toes, heels, and tops are a complementary navy blue, although, until things improve, no one will see these accents except for my wife, kids, and cat. The fabric of these socks are more on the formal side, but are still fun enough to wear with sweatpants.

Digital Red Socks

This next pair is the more abstract of the two. The design looks like an old Atari video game. Little reddish-orange squares are speckled between solid rows of the same color. The tops, heels, and toe accents are also the red-orange color. The background color is navy blue. This is my favorite of the two pairs, because I enjoy the old 8-bit videos and the digital look. Plus, I’m a bit of a square.

Verdict: Society Socks does it again with a good mix of fun and soft-spoken options. I enjoyed that the bright fun pair had circles and the darker, more reserved one had squares. I already know which pair my wife will be stealing. (Spoiler: it’s both.) As I said last month, the socks really add splash of color to my otherwise back and white sock drawer. Wearing them – especially now that every day runs together – breaks up the monotony of staying indoors. These days, slipping on a pair of fun socks is a nice way to boost your mood without, you know, the hassle of putting on a pair of real pants. Stay safe out there!
