GlossyBox March 2020 Review

GlossyBox includes an info booklet that tells you about each included item, their value, and a tip on how to use.

Per usual, this month included two coupons from HelloFresh and Naked Wines.

EYEKO Black Magic Mascara - Listed Value $14.00 (Buy a full-size for $26, on sale for $20.80)

Do I have too many mascaras already? Maybe. Do I still like receiving them in boxes? Somehow...yes. I'm really into the squishable tube mascaras lately that I'm able to knead. I feel like it keeps the formula from drying out as fast? I'm probably making that up. The wand here is also nice because it has a slight curve to it which does a gentle lift on my lash while applying.

Ciaté London Stamp & Drag Liner Duo - Retail Value $19.00

When I saw the spoilers for this item I was quite frankly pumped. I am pretty bad at doing winged eyeliner since it's hard to get it even on both eyes and generally I'm just not a precise person. This liquid liner duo has a stamp on one end so that my wings will be uniform and a chubby brush tip on the other end to complete the liner. Plus, I just think Ciaté is a super cute brand. I like how chunky this liner is since it makes it comfortable to hold and I don't have to go back and forth a few times. The pigment comes out steady and clean without erasing itself. Once dry, this liner also doesn't transfer to the upper part of my brow bone like cream liners sometimes can. Loving this product!

While I don't think I mastered it in the first go, I think it looks a lot better than if I had done it freehand. I just need to work with the placement and angle of the stamp.

Basic Beauty Tweezers - Listed Value $6.00

At first, I was pumped to get another pair of tweezers since it's always good to have on hand. But "basic" is the best way to describe these, as the name illustrates since they aren't the most exact. These powder pink powder-coated metal tweezers aren't as nice as my Tweezermans so I won't use them for precision tweezing, but they'll be good for grabbing things from tight spaces or other household uses.

Mane Club Bad Attitude 5-In-1 Deep Conditioner - Retail Value $3.99 (on sale for $2.79)

Mane Club Cry Baby 5-In-1 Deep Conditioner - Retail Value $3.99 (on sale for $2.79)

I recently got a different variation of these in another box and think the packing is super cute! Both of these deep conditioners do the same things (repair, strengthen, tame frizz, condition, and add shine) but have different fragrances. Cry Baby has a crushed fruit scent while Bad Attitude is sweet & spicy. I've deep conditioned my hair several times already this month, so I'm going to hold on to these but I think they're great to have around. Each pouch will give me at least three washes too (I have thin hair) but it will vary based on your hair type.

Sleek MakeUP Highlighter Copperplate Palette - Retail Value $14.99

I am always changing my mind about what type of highlighter is my favorite. Powder vs cream is always up for debate in my head. This cute metallic copper palette has four different pinkish copper powder shades to choose from. All of them have fantastic pigment that really impresses me. It comes with a small brush which I honestly don't find very useful since the bristles are on the stiff side, but it also has a nice sized mirror in the lid. If you're a fan of glittery goodness and want to PUMP UP your cheekbones, this is a great palette. I'm also a sucker for a magnetic closure in makeup products and this one delivers in that avenue as well.

Verdict: This month's GlossyBox has some useful staple makeup products. I know that mascara and eyeliner are not much to write home about, but I am loving the stamp liner and was also impressed with the pigment and shimmer of the highlighter palette. The deep conditioner packets came at the wrong time for me but I can save them for when my hair needs more moisture and although the tweezers aren't as precise as my old faves, they're good to have around. The total value of the six products this month is $61.97 which ain't too shabby for a $21 box.

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? Yes! This will be your first box as long as it doesn't sell out first.

From GlossyBox

The month that you order in is the first month that you will receive. For example, if you subscribe any time between January 1-31, your recurring subscription will begin with the January Box. The only exception to this rule would be if the monthly box sold out before the end of the month. In its place, we will ship a special edition of the Classic Box, which is comprised of our top 5 items over the most recent months.

Value Breakdown: At $21.00 for this box, each of the 6 items in this box has an average cost of just $3.50.

I like the palette but it looks very dollar store quality.

I also found the tweezers to be basically useless. I feel wasteful throwing them out, but I might end up doing just that or else use Marne’s suggestion of using them for household maintenance. That is a good idea I had not thought of before.

I canceled after this box. I wish I had canceled before the last 3 boxes. I enjoyed Glossybox for a long time, but the last few months have not been good at all in my opinion, but that is just my opinion.

I found those tweezers to be complete garbage…. they were so incredibly cheap feeling, but I’m going to hang on to them because they may become my dedicated false lash tweezers. I’m going to be spending much more time at home and I might try false lashes during the forced isolation time.

I was just learning how to apply false lashes in school before my classes were canceled. I think I may do the same!

I thought it was a terrible box worst one I’ve gotten yet and not worth the money. That Sleek highlighter palette has been around for years and I already have the other color way of the palette called Cleopatras KISS I believe. The wing is too chunky on the liner and the tweezers are pure junk and don’t work at all for my brows threw them away!
