Bespoke Post “Strike” Review

This was a holiday ‘Stocking Stuffer’ box that was only $22.00. I had been wanting one of these ceramic match strikers, so this seemed like the perfect chance to snag a really cool handmade piece.

Felt + Fat Ceramic Match Striker

I really love lighting candles with matches. Sure, I have a lighter (or three) but there is something that feels more purposeful about a real match, especially if I am lighting very special or expensive incense. I also have a love of odd little ceramic objects, so when I saw this moon-shaped striker with a little hole for matches, it had to be mine. I did find that not every type of match worked on it, which was odd, but I have a giant box of just standard wooden matches with red tips at home that seemed to react well with this gritty clay texture. My fancier white tipped matches wouldn’t light on this.

Ash + Fir Beacon Candle, 8 oz

Also included with our new striker is a delightfully scented soy-wax candle. This fragrance is a blend of booze, vanilla, and soft woods. It is a great candle for the cold months. The scent fills a room with ease and I love it when candles come in amber glass because the room gets a gorgeous glow as well as scent!

Verdict: This Bespoke Post was a nice little treat! I didn’t realize they had these less expensive boxes, but that might be because they were special for the holidays. I always love it when something I have been wanting anyways pops up in the Bespoke box shop! I can always count on my items to be of great quality too, making this box feel like a sure thing every single month.

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? Yes! This box is still in stock.

COUPON: Use code ADDICT25 to 25% off your first box.

Value Breakdown: This box cost $22 + $3.95 shipping meaning each of the two items included has an average cost of $12.98.

I love natural/vegan beauty products, Korean skincare, unique jewelry, and weird candies from far away places. When I am not waiting for my next exciting box you can find me painting or taking photographs of interesting people. I never leave home without pug hair somewhere on my shirt and a bold lipstick on my smile.

  1. $26 for a match striker and a candle? Noooooo.

  2. Full disclosure – I hijacked this sub from my husband and I have zero problem worth that LOL. This month I got the Tavern with a dartboard and beer glasses, last month I was able to snatch up the Flame (desktop fireplace) and I’ve been thrilled with this every single month!!

A HUUUUGE tip worth repeating that I saw someone post in the thread for this sub: google “bespoke post box” and go to the Shopping tab on google and it will bring up dozens of hidden boxes that for some reason you can’t see in list form on the website itself. And once you see the name of the box you may want you can search for it in the Bespoke website and it’ll bring it up and you can add it. I’ve scored so much more this way outside of the boxes it tells me are available.

One of my consistent faves!! Thanks MSA!

    • Thank you so much for that tip!!

  3. Wow, this is really nice. So sick of all the same-same sub boxes.

  4. Megan – great pick. I love those little match holders too, and have that exact one!

FYI – There are two types of matches – safety matches and “strike anywhere” matches. You need to use the latter (it says that in the bespoke listing but they should probably also mention that in the product literature. Strike anywhere matches have all the components needed for ignition on the match tip. Safety matches don’t. The “sandpapery” part of the box that you strike safety matches against contains the one additional chemical needed for their ignition.

Strike anywhere matches are usually somewhat harder to find/a bit more expensive as as most shippers (fedex,Usps, etc) require hazmat shipping for those. (There have been cases where the matches just rubbed against each other in transit and ignited! Which is why I like when they are offered in a glass container, which should limit available oxygen).

One way that a friend of mine got around this whole issue when storing his fireplace matches is is he bought a big box of fireplace safety matches, cut out the sandpapery part and glued it to the bottom of a nice vase that he uses as a holder. Now he just picks up the vase and strikes match against the bottom of it.

    • AHHHH This makes so much sense. Thank you!
