Look Fantastic September 2019 "The Birthday Edition" Review

Each box comes with a booklet that includes product information and tips for how to use what you got.

I love keeping Look Fantastic boxes around to store makeup, jewelry, and other important things, because they are always so sturdy and beautiful.

Now, on to the items!

Oskia Renaissance Cleansing Gel, 1.18 fl oz - Estimated Value $17.70 (Buy a 3 oz. bottle for $45.00 here.)

I liked this cleanser immediately! It's a super heavy gel with a delightful pinky color and a rosehip scent. This cleanser clung to my skin and gave me a deep clean feeling without being drying. It also noticed a slight foaming effect as I washed it off. A little goes a long way, so this tube should last a long time!

Mini Pixi LipLift Max in Honey Sheen, 1 oz. - Retail Value $6.00

Though I really don't need them, I tend to love lip-plumping glosses. It must be something about that tingle. This is a very pretty shimmering gloss with a champagne look and a strong mint scent. It felt good on my lips and gave them a pretty glossiness. I liked wearing this product both alone and layered over lipstick.

It's super versatile and easy to wear!

Molton Brown Orange & Bergamot Bath & Shower Gel, 3.3 fl oz. - Estimated Value $10.56 (Buy a 10 fl. oz. bottle for $32.00 here.)

Molton Brown is one of those indulgences I like to leave in my guest bath, so that anyone visiting feels extra pampered during an overnight stay. The bottles also look great next to my clawfoot tub! This shower gel has a scent that I think anyone would love—a delightful, unisex mix of citrus and musk. I've found that this brand's formulas work well as shower gel or for bubble baths.

Caudalie Premier Cru The Eye Cream, 5 ml. - Estimated Value $33.00 (Buy a 15 ml. bottle for $99.00 here.)

Caudalie is one of my favorite skincare brands, so I am always thrilled to see it in a box. My eyes have been feeling really dry and cranky lately, because I got some of my tretinoin cream too close to the little delicate corner creases. A luxe cream like this one is overdue. This stuff immediately calmed down any inflammation and restored loads of moisture to my stressed skin. This tube is actually a pretty generous size for such an expensive product, especially because a little goes a long way.

Bubble T Limited Edition Bath Bomb - Retail Value $6.00

It's actually been a little while since I've received a bath bomb in a box. This one feels long overdue. This bath bomb is perfect for celebrating Look Fantastic's fifth birthday, with its sweet cake scent and rainbow sprinkles!

(Full Size!) Sleek MakeUP Brow Stylist, 0.3 g. - Retail Value $8.11

My last item is a brow pencil with a spoolie end. The tip of the pencil is an angled shape, which makes flicking in individual "hairs" a piece of cake. The spoolie tip is perfect for combing through my brows both before and after penciling them in. Though the pencil I got is their "dark" shade, I found it still worked for me, even though I generally use more of a medium color.

This shade still totally works for an ashy blonde like me.

Here's the latest issue of Elle UK Magazine, which was included in this box:

The Verdict: Look Fantastic Beauty Box was really good this month, IMO. There wasn't a single item I disliked or didn't find useful. The standouts for me were the Caudalie eye cream and Oskia cleanser, but seeing as I'm a skincare addict, that shouldn't surprise anyone. Molton Brown is an old favorite of mine, and I liked getting to try the Pixi gloss and Sleek pencil. Overall, the value lands somewhere around the $81.37 mark, which is great for a $19 box, especially if you also love the included magazine.

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? Yes! (This page will let you know which box is currently available.)

Value Breakdown: At $19 for this box, here is approximately what you are paying per product:

  • Oskia Cleanser $4.13
  • Pixi Lip Plumper $1.40
  • Molton Brown Body Wash $2.47
  • Caudalie Eye Cream $7.71
  • Bubble T Bath Bomb $1.40
  • Sleek Brow Pencil $1.89

Alternatively, the average cost of each of the six items is $3.17.

I love natural/vegan beauty products, Korean skincare, unique jewelry, and weird candies from far away places. When I am not waiting for my next exciting box you can find me painting or taking photographs of interesting people. I never leave home without pug hair somewhere on my shirt and a bold lipstick on my smile.

I signed up for the year of LF a few months ago and have been really happy with them.
I’m more of a skincare than a makeup/hair product person, and this box sends me things I don’t think I’d get in other boxes (serum from Iceland, for example)
The products also seem a bit more luxe and “grown up” to me, if that makes any sense.
This was my first box I gave something away – the brow pencil.

Is shipping supposed to be free for monthly renewals, or only annual renewals? Tried to order, but it’s adding shipping and tax, which brings up the total to the point that I’m not sure that I feel like starting the commitment.

Also, is it easy to cancel subscriptions?

I had a hard time canceling. It would not allow me to cancel online even though the option was there. I chatted to cancel and they told me I couldn’t cancel until my box for that month had shipped which made no sense. I had to wait a week and chat again to finally get cancelled.

Thank you, Trish. I wish that I had read this before actually subscribing. Do you recall if it has to be prior to the shipped month, or any details? I have mixed opinions of this company, so this makes me wary.

If you pay for 6 or 12 months at the time of purchase (which I do because I use a cashback app for the purchase) the shipping is free. Tax is added, but tracked shipping is free. Not sure about 3 month pre-pay or monthly payments.

I’m not sure about the shipping cost, but cancelling is very easy. You can cancel through your account via a link.

Thank you, Luna and Vicki A! Glad to hear it’s a subscription that can be modified on an account page.

Finally, searched and searched the site and the free shipping must meet the $25 threshold for the first order. I added some Aesop toothpaste, which I happen to use, and shipping became included.

Sounds like it will not be free shipping for the first box, if that is all that is ordered, but future boxes would be. Hope that the future boxes will be good ones. This box appealed to me, so I decided to add another recurring charge to the litany of boxes that pass over my threshold.

The Caudalie eye cream is great.

And that little tube lasts a LONG time.

It was such a cute box this month! I will have to pass along the eyebrow pencil, but everything else was perfect.

I really want to keep the bath bomb, but my youngest’s birthday is next month, and I think she would really get a kick out of it. 🙂 I will probably use this month’s box to wrap up a bunch of goodies for her.

I might not be able to use everything, but month after month I am impressed with LF’s boxes! I am amazed that they are able to give us such great items for an extremely reasonable cost.

My Look fantastic box is alway a welcome treat. I still wonder how they make any money between the gorgeous well made boxes with all the details, the cute size magazine, Free shipping to US because these boxes are very heavy. I just love this box and will not unsubscribe specially thst you can sign up for a year and pay monthly.
