Yes, Oh Yas! April 2019 Review

This month includes makeup and skincare products. Let's see what look we can create with them!

A card is included with the savings percentage that YOY calculates for the included items.

Dosi The Polish Purifying Body Polish, 1 Package - Retail Value $17

This package contains a gritty mixture of dead sea salt, activated charcoal, coconut oil, coffee, and essential oils that smells just like coffee grounds. There isn't any info on the packet, but the site says that it can be used as a smoothing body scrub or a detoxifying bath.

I like a really scrubby body scrub and this just spreads out too much to do anything for me. If I were to use this as a soak, I'd probably use the whole packet which would make for an expensive bath. Maybe I'll use it as a foot soak to make it last longer.

Studio Makeup Line Styler Pen in Blackest Black - Retail Value $18

While the swatches of this liner didn't give me much hope – bleeding lines, sheer color – I actually like it. It applies easily with the soft felt-tip, dries to a satin finish, and stays put all day. I'm able to achieve thin to thick lines just by changing the pressure of my stroke. I can apply it to my lashline or waterline without irritation.

Sorme Lip Brush - Retail Value $17

This lip pencil has a larger and fluffier bristle shape than most and has a totally different effect when applying color. It creates a softer wash of color that can be built up with more layers. I can still create a precise line around my lips but am able to fill in much faster. I didn't realize this until later, but the body of the brush slides off and over the bristle end as a cap.

Bodyography Electric Lip Slide in Passion Sorbet - Retail Value $20

This lip color is so good! It's like a lipstick, gloss, and stain in one. The mousse texture is easy to apply, smooth, and semi-opaque. At first, it looks like a satin lipstick but slowly wears down to a stain throughout the day. The color doesn't last all day but is quick and easy to reapply. It also feels moisturizing and comfortable and I don't feel like I have to worry about messing it up by eating or drinking.

Amor Us Lady Boss Eyeshadow Palette - Retail Value $9

Wow, look at these bright pressed pigments. This palette has a mix of matte, shimmer, and metallic shades that are all soft and velvety. They are also all very fluffy and make a mess in the pan. Surprisingly, I don't notice a lot of fall out though. While not the richest pigmentation ever, I'm still impressed for this being a $9 palette. I've found that using my fingertips works best for applying these with the most intensity and least mess. I like that each row and column is set up to coordinate as an eye look. Swatches of each row are below.

Eye look #1: I used the first column of shades – Raise the Bar, Wonder, Winner – plus some Hustle in my crease.

Eye look #2: I used the shadows in the second column and last row to create this pink and purple gradient look.

Here's my finished look using all of the products included this month. I used the Lady Boss eyeshadow palette to create Eye Look #2 (described above) and lined my eyes with the Studio Makeup Line Styler Pen. On my lips, I applied a layer of Bodyography Electric Lip Slide with the Sorme Lip Brush for a wash of color.

Verdict: This month, Yes, Oh Yas! sent items that work well together for a bold, colorful look. Each item is full size, as promised, and the total value is $81. I love the Electric Lip Slide and the Sorme Lip Brush which work so well together. At a cost of $14.99 + $3.99 for all full-size products, Yes, Oh Yas! is a low-risk way to try a wide variety of beauty and cosmetic items on a monthly basis.

Tiffany, I sometimes have trouble judging the quality of makeup products based on your reviews, because you always manage to apply everything beautifully regardless of texture or pigmentation issues! 😂

Wow, that’s actually a great deal for $15. I’m subbed to so many boxes though I’m overloaded on makeup and skincare..your looks were both stunning! I’m pleasantly surprised in the quality of these cosmetics 😀

I was excited too… until I saw the pics in this review. That liner pen is straight garbage and the lip brush is frayed too much for me. Shadow swatches are just ok… comparable to a brand-name drugstore palette but nothing fancy. I wanted that lippie to be a bit more intense too. Looks like this *won’t* be my next sub.

Be aware. This sub has a host of c.s. issues.

I canceled my sub and luckily removed my recurring PayPal approval for them because the next month after canceling they tried to charge me again.

Last month some people received a c.o.d. charge of $12 and couldn’t get their bag unless they paid it.

If you receive a broken item, forget about getting a replacement.

If your bag is lost in transit, you guess it, you wont get a replacement.

It goes on and on… I wanted to love this sub, because they feature indie brands and 99% of them are C.F., but I cant. Between the c.s. issues and months of them not meeting their promised value, I let them go.

P.s. Tiffany they dont fo rhe yearly bonus bag anymore. They’ve changed it to every 4 months you are with them you get a bonus item, but you have to email them to let them know you’ve hit your 4 months

Yes Oh Yas, along with their other boxes Face Sugar Babes and Liv Beauty Box, have completely disappeared AFTER billing their subscribers for their December boxes!!!! They deleted ALL of their websites and social media accounts!!!! If you are subscribed to any of these boxes and was billed this month CALL YOUR BANK ASAP!!!! Also, a YouTuber who goes by The Not So Evil Stepmother just posted a video about this a couple of days ago. It would be helpful to watch her video as she tells you (better than I can) what you should do. I hope that everyone who was billed this month gets their money back.
