World’s Finest: The Collection – Green Lantern Box Review
This quarter’s box featured a lot of Flash-inspired clothing items, a few items for your bar, and a new figure.
It comes with an information card that details the items in your box. Everything you see in this box was made exclusively for World’s Finest: The Collection.
Snapback Logo Cap
This hat is a really striking black and green combo and it has a highly detailed embroidered Green Lantern logo. The back also has a light green embroidered World’s Finest logo.
3/4 Sleeve Raglan Tee
There is something delightfully retro about the design of this month’s shirt that features Hal Jordan, the second Green Lantern. I love the fun colors and the way that the design works so well with the green raglan sleeves.
Green Lantern Figure
There are some major paint job issues with this figure that will likely disappoint some subscribers. Splotches of gloss and incorrect paint color make a few appearances here, and the job on the face just feels rushed and lacking in detail. Kind of a bummer! Without those issues, this would be a very handsome collector’s pieces, especially with its iconic pose and cool base.
Light Switch Cover
Sigh.. more paint issues. There are random spots in the green paint and the white detail is sheer and splotchy. These issues turn what would be a very cool geeky home accent into something just feels rushed and unfinished.
Lantern USB Hub
I generally enjoy USB hubs because they are really great at making my too-many-cords problem more attractive and manageable! This one is very cool, shaped like the lantern and it even has a metal handle. I was disappointed though that when I plugged it in, it didn’t light up. Seems like a missed opportunity!
Double Sided Pillow Cover
This throw pillow cover features Green Lantern and crew and has an iconic GL quote on the back. I don’t really enjoy things like this in my home but if you do enjoy decorating your couch or favorite chair with fandom items, you will likely love this!
This is probably the item this month that will get the most use in my house! My husband is a craft brewer and we always have bottle openers stashed all over the living room, kitchen, and yard for when we have company to sample his latest brew. This opener is minimal and very heavy duty!
Finally, our last item is an art print from Green Lantern: Rebirth #6 (May 2005). It features The Lantern Corps AKA the green space police with magic rings! The art is beautiful and the print itself is very well done.
Verdict: I have to admit that I was a little disappointed with this box. The finishing and overall quality of the items really could have been better. Paint issues plagued multiple items which always is a bummer, especially to collectors out there. The lantern USB hub would have been so much better if it lit up, and the pillowcase felt a little juvenile to me personally. I did really like the raglan, bottle opener, and print though! I hope next month just has a little more in terms of quality control.
