I am always learning with this subscription, but I was the most out of my depth with this box. I would consider this my least favorite box out of the six I’ve reviewed, but that would likely be because I know next to nothing about The Teen Titans. Regardless, I think World’s Finest: The Collection did another great job that is sure to excite true fans. In fact, I know a guy that will be over the moon to receive these items. So maybe he’ll find some in this stocking. While I wasn’t the right guy for this box, some of the items still rocked and some fell short. I thought the hoodie, figure, and mug were cool. And the print was my favorite part of it all. The bento box and chopsticks were a nice touch, but were underwhelming for me and the gem pin didn’t move the meter for me at all. While I wasn’t knowledgable on the source material, I really appreciate DC Comics showing the love to all its amazing intellectual property and not just relying on Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman. There are a lot of Teen Titan fans gleaming with joy this time around.
This month felt like the items were to help subscribers represent their affinity for the villains. The tapestry, the sticker, the pin and sign are all things you would display for others to see to let them know where your allegiance lies. I love the imagery in this box, although I could say that about every one. I enjoy the tapestry most of all. I love the image of the grumpy Batman surround by smiling villains. I also really dig the Joker pin and Bane shirt. I appreciate the idea of the planter, but wish it were bigger. The sticker, sign, and vial did not move the meter for me, but were still good additions the box. The vinyl figure is sweet and a great addition to my growing collection. I thought this was a great theme with great items, since a lot of fans identify or sympathize with the antagonists.
If you’ve read my reviews, you know I put a lot of value on useful things. I really liked how DC Comics picked a solid theme and gave subscribers seven functional items and a cool figure to add to the collection. I really, really like the shakers, but wish they were a little different. So I’m going to go with the apron as my favorite piece. It’s a functional item that shows off your nerdy side. I love it. I actually dug the napkin holder. Never something I thought I would say. The printing on the bag bummed me out. It’s still usable, but if I’m receiving something new in a box, I expect it to be perfect. I can take or leave the straw, but do have to admit it was a cool way to brand something. The shirt and glass were good but not overly amazing. Again, it was a good way to integrate DC Comics into everyday items that will allow you to show your fandom and personality. Overall, I really enjoyed this quarter’s box. However, I received it in mid-September. I don’t know if I was a special case or they are just really behind, but I’m about to close my pool and put up the Halloween decorations. I wish this would have arrived two or three months ago.
