This bag came in a handmade Queen Alaffia cosmetics bag, and it is gorgeous!

Whole Foods 24-Hour Beauty Bag Review April 2019 - Information Card Top

Inside the bag was a small pamphlet about the products included in the bag.

Whole Foods 24-Hour Beauty Bag Review April 2019 - Evanhealy Whipped Shea Butter for Lips Front

Evanhealy Whipped Shea Butter for Lips, 0.25 oz – Retail Value $9.95

This lip balm is made with USDA certified organic ingredients and features nourishing powerhouses like raspberry seed oil, beeswax, avocado oil, and shea butter. It is incredibly hydrating to my chronically dry lips (drink your water, y’all), and it leaves the slightest, softest sheen.

Whole Foods 24-Hour Beauty Bag Review April 2019 - Weleda Almond Sensitive Care Facial Cream Box TopWhole Foods 24-Hour Beauty Bag Review April 2019 - Weleda Almond Sensitive Care Facial Cream Front

Weleda Almond Sensitive Care Facial Cream, 1 oz – Retail Value $27.99

This cream came at the perfect time- my skin has been an unhappy mess since I tried one too many new products and had an allergic reaction that caused some insanely rough texture on my face. I knew immediately exfoliating to try and fix that texture would make things worse, so I have been focusing on gentle, hydrating products that my skin was fine with. This was the only new product I have tried in the past few days, and it definitely helped to calm and hydrated my stressed out skin. I was skeptical when I first saw alcohol on the ingredients list, but Weleda uses a non-drying alcohol made from raw grain, and I can definitely say this blend of sweet almond oil, beeswax, and glycerin was hydrating and is safe for sensitive skin.

Whole Foods 24-Hour Beauty Bag Review April 2019 - Acure Brightening Facial Scrub Front

Acure Brightening Facial Scrub, 1 oz – Estimated Value $2.50 (buy the 4 oz version for $9.99)

This scrub has a really popular following, but honestly, I found it to be a nightmare. It is made with walnut shell powder that gritty, and the grains are the perfect size to get stuck in your pores. That combined with the fact that I had a hard time washing all of it off makes me hesitant to even want to pass it along to a friend. It is rare that I have such a strong aversion to a product I try, but this really did not work for me.

Whole Foods 24-Hour Beauty Bag Review April 2019 - Burt’s Bees Sensitive Skin Facial Cleansing Towelettes Top

Burt’s Bees Sensitive Skin Facial Cleansing Towelettes, pack of 10 – Retail Value $2.99

These fragrance-free hypoallergenic cleansing towelettes are made with cotton extract, aloe, and glycerin to gently hydrate while wiping away dirt and grime. I threw these in my truck to use after participating in a 5k, and these were a godsend to wipe off all of the sweat on my face and hands before I joined the crawfish boil that was our reward for running on a Saturday. I’m going to be keeping these in my truck because I liked how they performed and I know that the next time I need these, I’ll be appreciative of the decision to do so.

Whole Foods 24-Hour Beauty Bag Review April 2019 - Acure Radically Rejuvenating Under Eye Hydrogel Mask Top

Acure Radically Rejuvenating Under Eye Hydrogel Mask – Retail Value $4.99

The thing that most stood out to me with the eye masks is the unnecessary packaging – when you tear open the outer patch there is an inner sealed pouch, and it just felt wasteful. These are made with interesting ingredients like Persian silk tree bark extract and oat kernel extract, and they were hydrating to my under eye area.

Whole Foods 24-Hour Beauty Bag Review April 2019 - Cocokind Golden Elixir Box FrontWhole Foods 24-Hour Beauty Bag Review April 2019 - Cocokind Golden Elixir Front

Cocokind Golden Elixir, 0.12 oz – Estimated Value $3.08 (buy the 0.35 oz version for $9)

The star ingredient in this oil is the oil from superfood sacha Inchi, which is native to much of tropical South America and is a nourishing multi-purpose oil. The only other ingredients in this elixir is sunflower oil, geranium oil, and sweet orange oil. All of the ingredients are organic, and I loved how hydrated this left my hair feeling.

Whole Foods 24-Hour Beauty Bag Review April 2019 - Alba Botanica Lip Care SPF 25 Front

Alba Botanica Lip Care SPF 25, 0.15 oz – Retail Value $2.99 (found here for $1.94)

I hope you have never had the misfortune of having sunburned lips- it is absolutely miserable. I love having SPF lip balms on hand for that very reason, and I liked how nourishing this was thanks to the beeswax and jojoba seed oil.

Whole Foods 24-Hour Beauty Bag Review April 2019 - Giovanni 2chic Repairing Blackberry & Coconut Oil Hair Treatment Front

Giovanni 2chic Repairing Blackberry & Coconut Oil Hair Treatment, 1.75 oz – Estimated Value $3.19 (buy a box of 12 treatments for $38.30)

My hair loves oils but I don’t get the opportunity for hot oil treatments very often. To use you put this packet in a bowl with hot water until the oil is melted, twist off the cap, and apply it to your hair and scalp. I appreciate the ease of use with this- the smaller nozzle means it is easier to control where the oil is applied. I massaged this in and then threw a shower cap on and relaxed for a while, and when I finally washed it out my hair was noticeably softer. Win!

Whole Foods 24-Hour Beauty Bag Review April 2019 - Yes To Coconut Ultra Hydrating Paper Mask Top

Yes To Coconut Ultra Hydrating Paper Mask – Retail Value $2.99

I love sheet masks, but the reviews on this one actually scared me enough to not want to try it- other users say it felt like a freshly cut jalapeno was applied to their face after using this mask, and it only has two out of five stars out of over 600 reviews on the Ulta website. Nothing in the ingredients list looked particularly scary (other than coconut oil, which I try to avoid putting on my face), so I decided to give it a try as a neck mask. This is pretty strongly scented with coconut, and while I didn’t experience any burning or tingling I still probably want to put this on my face.

Whole Foods 24-Hour Beauty Bag Review April 2019 - Whole Foods Market Soothing Avocado Sheet Mask Top

Whole Foods Market Soothing Avocado Sheet Mask – Retail Value $2.99

I really enjoyed this sheet mask – it was cooling and nourishing when my skin was feeling especially stressed out, and I was able to wear it for close to an hour and enjoyed the cooling effect the entire time. I bought a few more of these before the Whole Foods beauty sale ended because I liked it that much (and the one thing I definitely do not need more of is sheet masks).

Whole Foods 24-Hour Beauty Bag Review April 2019 - Thayers Cucumber Alcohol-Free Witch Hazel Toner with Aloe Vera Front

Thayers Cucumber Alcohol-Free Witch Hazel Toner with Aloe Vera, 3 oz – Retail Value $3.99

This toner is made with witch hazel, aloe vera, and cucumber extract to help refresh your skin without stripping it of its natural oils. This is alcohol-free, and I found it to be gentle while still gently hydrating my skin.

Whole Foods 24-Hour Beauty Bag Review April 2019 - Andalou Naturals Cannacell Happy Day Cream Front

Andalou Naturals Cannacell Happy Day Cream, 0.4 oz – Estimated Value $4.70 (buy the full-size version for $19.99, found here for $15.99)

I’ve tried the foaming cleanser from the Cannacell line from Andalou Naturals, and I really like it. I had high hopes for this moisturizer, and I wasn’t disappointed. This is made with hemp stem cells and organic hemp seed oil, and I appreciate that the first ingredient on the list is aloe rather than water! This was both hydrating and soothing, and I thought this made for a great morning moisturizer.

Whole Foods 24-Hour Beauty Bag Review April 2019 - Burt’s Bees Liquid Lipstick in Tidal Taupe Front

Burt’s Bees Liquid Lipstick in Tidal Taupe, Full-Size! Retail Value $9.99

This is my first time trying a liquid lipstick from Burt’s Bees, and I was impressed! It was very hydrating thanks to ingredients like shea butter and apricot oil, and the tidal taupe shade is a great nude without washing out my skin. This had a glossy finish, but I didn’t find it to be too sticky. This does transfer a lot, so if that bothers you then this probably isn’t the lipstick for you.

Whole Foods 24-Hour Beauty Bag Review April 2019 - Swatched Top

Here is the lipstick swatched.

Whole Foods 24-Hour Beauty Bag Review April 2019 - Mineral Fusion Volumizing Mascara FrontWhole Foods 24-Hour Beauty Bag Review April 2019 - Mineral Fusion Volumizing Mascara Uncapped Front

Mineral Fusion Volumizing Mascara, 0.13 oz – Estimated Value $4.33 (buy the full-size version for $18.99)

If you have been looking for a cruelty-free, hypoallergenic mascara, I think you need to look closer at this mascara from Mineral Fusion. I was impressed with the volume and length this gave me without clumping, and I could build up multiple coats. I was actually wearing this before a strenuous workout, and I was impressed that this didn’t smear all over my under-eyes and make me look like a raccoon.

The Verdict: I thought this was an awesome curation of beauty products stuffed in one pretty bag- the Weleda cream and Mineral Fusion mascara are new discoveries that I have been loving in particular. My only complaint is that the value of this bag added up to $86.67. If we factor the value of the bag into the total we probably reach the promised $100 value, but the Self-Care Sunday bag had a value over the promised amount without factoring in the makeup bag. That being said I still enjoyed this, and I think it was a good deal.

To Wrap Up:

Can you get this box if you sign up today? No, this is available in-store only once a year.

Value Breakdown: This box cost $20 and I calculated a total value of $86.67, which means I paid approximately the following per item:

  • Evanhealy: $2.29
  • Weleda: $8.75
  • Acure Brightening Scrub: $0.58
  • Burt’s Bees Towelettes: $0.69
  • CocoKind Elixir: $0.71
  • Alba Botanica Lip Balm: $0.69
  • Giovanni 2chic: $0.74
  • Yes To Coconut: $0.69
  • Whole Foods Avocado Mask: $0.69
  • Thayers Toner: $0.92
  • Burt’s Bees Lipstick: $2.30
  • Mineral Fusion Mascara: $1.00
  • Andalou Naturals: $1.08
  • Acure Eye Gels: $1.15

I am a staunch believer that pineapple doesn’t belong on pizza and when I’m not working as a family law attorney I enjoy hiking the Louisiana trails (alligator sightings are a favorite!) or relaxing with Duchess, my cat. I’m a sucker for anything labeled a mystery box and I’ve never met a bath bomb I didn’t like.

Can someone please explain why sold out bags are consistently being reviewed? I don’t understand the point. I can’t get it. It’s just a let down of what we can’t have.

There are different products in these bags that many may be unfamiliar with so the review shows them to us.

Also, Even though they are sold out most of the products are up for swap, (including several full bags) and this gives an unbiased review, plus real life values.

I still like reading the reviews of the individual products, especially ones like this that I can purchase by hopping over to Whole Foods.

Sometimes due to the timing of a box, by the time a review can be written, that box will always be already sold out, so you can’t get a specific box after reading the review, but the reviews can give a sense of what the box is like to help make a decision if you want to subscribe. In this case you have to wait a whole year for the next one but usually it’s just to the next month.

Great looking bag!

I’m still so sad I missed out on these! My Whole Foods sold out of them in the first 15 minutes of being open!

My skin is super sensitive too. If I use the wrong product it gets all dry and flakey. A dermatologist friend of mine said to use over the counter cortisone ointment for a couple days and it worked miracles.

Great review. The Weleda almond lotion looks nice. Congrats on your 5 k run!!

I like that you provided extra information you found out about the ingredients in the Weleda product.

Excuse me, but I’m a big weirdo who has to know: how do the lip balms smell?
